    PV earthing UK

It's a good idea to do it to bleed off static buildup. also for lightning (supposedly) and to give fault currents a path to take. With regards to lack of availability for the specific things needed, Improvise, Adapt, Overcome applies I believe. That's what I have found anyway. Get creative...

    Earthing Arrangement OK?

The system is installed in a wood Cabin, raised off the floor on concrete blocks and the panels are roof mounted. Do I terminate grounds on the Smartshunt system side bolt? (going to rod) Or on a shared bus as the diagram shows? If you need more info to help ask away, I'm pretty desperate for...

    Should my system be grounded?

Currently installing my own offgrid with similar questions. Being ongrid I'd presume you'll share public or mains EGC in some form, don't quote me on that though. I need a rod

"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."

I have recently been educating myself on the different approaches people take to earthing/grounding/bonding domestic low power (sub 1kw) systems not unlike my own, in best interests of the safety of the operator (myself) and equipment itself. It would appear as though there is no...

Ok noted, I'll be extra careful. So glad I made an account here. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Miniature-Low-voltage-Circuit-Breaker-Energy/dp/B08DTLBQXG/ref=sr_1_49?crid=2MUQSNTJZBGQI&keywords=60A+DC+Breaker+2p+60a&qid=1652048913&sprefix=60a+dc+breaker+2p+60%2Caps%2C115&sr=8-49 That'll work won't it?

Probably just a marketing tactic to fool mugs like me. lol. I'll use the windy nation cable. seems intended for the purpose and yeah, I'd rather smell the cables burning at a lower temp than operating at a higher temp.

I updated the Diagram according to suggestions made. DC cable measurements are cross sectional, AC cable measurements are Area squared, just to add to the confusion  my bad

I'd rather avoid anything even getting warm, let alone boiling ?I'll be going around the system with an IR gun when it's installed and running to find hot spots, will have the victron app immediately available within seconds etc etc. Definitely doing everything I can to avoid anything grim from...

4mm stranded Core, ignoring the insulation (1mm jacket I believe) Found this discussion, consensus seem to be they're ok across the board, provided they don't interrupt negative ground (?)...

2P DC Breakers seem to be the better and more reliable form breaker that I can get my hands on for a reasonable price. Still getting used to dealing with AWG. I come from a carpentry background, always used millimeters but I'm getting used to it lol Here's the PV Datasheet and my diagram, as...

I would really appreciate any constructive criticisms / inputs / suggestions for my first system. I have taught myself the fundamentals in so far and I now feel I have a decent grasp on the terms used in Solar I could use some feedback. - 4x Roof mounted 270W Trina solar "24v" panels in 2S2P...

2S2P Array is going to provide 57V @ 20A (On paper) 4mm copper - solar rated cable (between PV Array & 100/50 MPPT) @ about 2m if that (not installed yet) I believe I need 4AWG cable & the appropriate size lugs for the 24V battery (2 runs - To Inverter & From MPPT / Shunt) I'm starting to...

Tyvm much appreciated. Was hoping for someone to point out where in particular I need to redefine and I already went over that link. Doesn't seem to be much consensus on what breaker is best for which job.
