    Seplos Mason kit. UK.

14khw battery kit on Fogstar, £500 for the case with BMS. £1920 for 16x 280Ah B grade cells. So 14kwh battery for £2420... Not bad. Anyone got experience of this kit?

Can you mount a solar panel landscape with horizontal rails and clamp it longways?

Just noticed a house in our village has landscape mounted panels with the clamps on the shorter edges. Been there for years.

Can you mount a solar panel landscape with horizontal rails and clamp it longways?

These are the only clamp drawings I found in there.

Can you mount a solar panel landscape with horizontal rails and clamp it longways?

Interesting! These pics are not in the install manual I downloaded. BT00002151_3530.pdf

Can you mount a solar panel landscape with horizontal rails and clamp it longways?

Yes, but can't see how the clamps are fitted in this pic?

Can you mount a solar panel landscape with horizontal rails and clamp it longways?

Its an LG315N1C-G4. Max load 6000Pa. Found the installation manual. It states that when mounting with clamps, "the module may be fastened to a support using clamps on both the long edge and the short edge" However none of the drawings in the appendix show landscape mounting.

Can you mount a solar panel landscape with horizontal rails and clamp it longways?

I'll see if I can get a datasheet on the panels. The are LG and are used so that may not be too easy.

Can you mount a solar panel landscape with horizontal rails and clamp it longways?

To fit one more panel on my shed, I could go landscape, 2 rows of 3 instead of 5 in a row, portrait. I saw that to do this I am supposed to mount rails horizontally and then put another set of rail on top going vertically and then mount the panels with clamps on the long edges. What happens if...

    CATL or EVE?

Fogstar sells EVE grade A and B cells in the UK. They have an office in China so I assume they can get the right product. Shame it seems to be such a lottery to get 100% genuine batteries...

    Battery price drop?

Yes, I see that CATL are working on them. Maybe due to manufacture this year. I assume they have some clever technology that makes this chemistry rival LiFePo4, which may not be available to other manufacturers for a while? A battery that's 1/3 the price would be revolutionary if there are no...

    Battery price drop?

I read that raw Lithium prices are dropping back after a big peak and that there may be a glut of LiFePo4 batteries due to over supply in China. Have LiFePo4 battery prices started to drop? I haven't really been watching prices that carefully and I was wondering if there's likely to be a...

Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

Thanks for the info. I can see why big is better when it comes to wind turbines! I may have a read up on fieldlines and have a play at making some, just for fun!

Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

Looking at an Istabreeze 2000w turbine, a 6m/s wind speed gives you about 250W, so this sounds a lot more realistic. 2000W needs a full on gale!

Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

Just found a chap in the UK (sustainableorange) who has put some vids up on YT about his Tesup experience. Bought a 4kw vertical model which rusted and developed a shaft wobble within 6 weeks... Not sure it generated a single watt. He's now got a Magnum 5 horizontal to try...

Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

Trustpilot reviews told me everthing I need to know about Tesup! Including the obvious fake 5* reviews... A 6kW Kingspan might do the business, but I think these are £30k....

Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

wow! That really is some statment! £130 a day! So do they mean generated and sold back to the grid or just electricity you haven't needed to buy! Big difference. We get £0.12 max a unit for generated electricity and it costs £0.34 a unit to buy. So this thing makes either 1,000 units a day or...

Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

Yep, kind of what I had assumed. Then I read the Tesup manual and saw their figures and thought I'd ask here! As expected, Tesup are talking bollox...

Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

The output data is in the install manual on their website. They show 5kw in a 13m/s wind which is a very strong wind and in thier tests, I would assume they use perfect turbulance free wind. While I doubt most manufacturers power figures, it does show that at more usual wind speeds, output is...

Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

According to weatherspark.com we have an average annual windspeed of 23kph nearly 13.8mph or 6.4m/s. Our house is in an exposed location with very little between us and the coast 4 miles away and we get prevailing westerly winds. (no houses or trees in between, just rolling hills) Looking at...

Adding a generator. Is bigger better?

2000 hours and it's dead? I guess that's like driving a car 120k miles.... What happens to them, just general wear and tear on bores and bearings? So there's no point in rebuilding them? Given the cost of a rebore these days, I guess its just not worth it.

Adding a generator. Is bigger better?

The low loading issue should be addressed by charging the batteries at 7kw for an hour rather than trying to run the house at 1000W for 7 hours, but I know what you mean. Trying to use a 100kVA for charging a 14kWh LiFePo4 battery isn't a good idea! 30kVA genset might be ok?

Adding a generator. Is bigger better?

Great info guys! I see that some hybrid interters have generator inputs which makes the setup a bit easier I guess. The max charging current of LiFePo4 is the big issue isn't it. 0.5C on a 48v 304Ah battery means I can only put in about 7kw per hour so getting the battery up to half capacity...

Adding a generator. Is bigger better?

Just wondering about the best sizing of a generator for adding to a solar + battery system to reudce reliance on a grid connection. With battery storage, it becomes possible to have a much larger generator running for less time instead of a smaller generator running for long periods of no sun...

    New design for a waterwheel!

Yes, you have rather missed the point. Southampton University has published a paper on a new waterwheel design that is 80% efficient. I am not sure how much more tangible that can be? It's a published paper detailing the design and test results. I could maybe post a PDF file of the paper...

    New design for a waterwheel!

Just thought it was interesting that a technology as old as a water wheel still has room for improvement and that people are still researching it. Also the research is public and by the looks of it, well within the scope of a DIY builder to utilise into a more efficient hyrdo power generator...

Help us design a rack-mounted system for the UK

Thanks D. Definitely something to consider. The cells are 95% of the cost, EVE charge us per Wh, whichever cells we use - so could do a much smaller system with 50Ah and it would be around half the cost. 15kWh is a sweet spot I think, in the UK. The only downside is the weight of a single...

Building a LiFePo4 battery to work with a SunSynk hybrid ECCO 5kw inverter.

If I use a JBD 200A 48v BMS along with 16x 280Ah EVE LiFePo4 cells, will it talk to a Sunsynk ECCO 5kw hybrid inverter? I assume it has to pretend to be a Pylontech? Using 280Ah cells means it won't be a standard Pylontech battery type, so will that be a problem? I really want to build a...

Can anyone find me a manual for this inverter? Growatt 3000

No sure exactly what model it is or how old it is, but I'm looking for a manual for it.
