Now I'm confused, Would it be better to go with the ZnShine Bifacials at 540w or the SolaEver 455 - non Bifacials? (Roof mount)

This is good to know. It was my understanding that bifacials would generate the listed power, but increase in production from the extra power generated from the rear (nothing in this case). Is the listed power at 540w included in the bifacial numbers?

I'm taking this in baby steps and looking at solar panels. I'm working with SanTan Solar who's suggesting 51 of their SolarEver 410W solar panels. They are also doing the plans for the system and getting them approved. I'm thinking it might be better to go with the SolarEver 455 or better yet...

First timer - Thinking about 30,000 kwh ish system!

Correct, I'm in AZ. Net-Metering is currently at around 9 cents per kWh.... this is dropping to ~8 cents this month some time (not sure how this works long term.. do we sign agreements with the power companies stating they buy power @ X amount for X years, or can they change it whenever? Today...

One of the engineers at SanTan says I could fit 50 solar panels (410 watt) on my roof, excited about that. I would not be getting 100% efficiency, but still believes I would be producing more then I use, even with my high usage. I have a few questions, I know this is a DIY form and something I...

First timer - Thinking about 30,000 kwh ish system!

Why do you say that? From everything I've been reading, they come highly recommended, even here on the forums? I could be wrong, but Santan Solar seems to have a very solid reputation?

I'm working with SanTan Solar to come up with a game plan and to see how many solar panels will fit on my roof and go from there. I'm working with one of their engineers over there. From there, I plan to buy their hardware and find someone local to install on the roof and then have an...

I use it for a bunch of things. It runs ESXi which runs 4-5 VM's for misc things including Unraid which runs ~45TB's of disk space, all on spinning disk due to cost. I have data being backup to it and it backing date up to a cloud server as well.

Not looking to rush it, 2-3K saving is good, but not good enough to rush this project along.

Thank you again for the follow up! I have no intentions of cutting grid at all, just not sure if selling (net metering??) setup is worth it?? I live in AZ, plenty of sunshine I'm looking into ground mounting them now, or as someone else mentioned, build something to mount them to.

So what is the Goal? - I would like to eliminate my power bill 100% if I can. If not, as close as I can (afford) Brand new home.

While it seems I can get them on the roof, it probably will not be the best usage to get the use of the solar panels. I'm still looking into this. Here's a few mock (attached) I can also ground mount of needed. Again, still researching this and looking for some input. Thank you!!

From my Understand from APS: It’s important to note that the solar energy your home produces and uses is worth the full-retail rate of electricity. For APS customers, that’s around $0.12 per kWh, but the exact rate will vary If your solar panels are producing more electricity than your home...

I'm debating the grid tie system now as well. Is it worth selling back the power? (Only reason from a grid tied system from my understanding?) While I've not talked with APS, I'm basing this all off my last 3 years of usage with APS.

Thank you! This was my approach when building the new house. It was built in 2021, everything new. Used 2x6 with all foam insulation. Regarding my AC unit, it's a new XR14 Heat Pump, Trane 5.0 Ton 14 SEER (Model:4TWR4060G1000). My water heater is a Rheem Gladiator 50 Gal. Tall 12 Year...

Thank you for the well thought out response. While I understand my new home is using less power (about half?) I would like to build the solar array for future use as well, hence the larger system. Based on your numbers, (I still need to validate on my end), it seems the size system is a good...

He's a spreadsheet of monthly hours and total I was charged VS what I paid, along with how much power I used and when. Hope this helps.

First timer - Thinking about 30,000 kwh ish system!

Hello there! I'm in the great state of Arizona and looking into a DIY ~30,000 kwh ish system. I'm basing my system usage off my last 3 years of elec use with APS (power company here in AZ). As seen in image one, I used 29,189 kWh's between 2019 and 2020. Between 2020 and 2021, I used 26,183...
