    Starting Your Own Utility Company

Makes sense - This might not always work. In South America, you often have shaded parking where they cover the canopy with some kind of fabric. In that situation, replacing the fabric with panels should be a possibility.

    Starting Your Own Utility Company

I agree with your message, especially the final part of it. Anything that requires large scale behavioral change is most likely not succeeding. With regard to the rest, how would I be able to find the data you are suggesting me having a look at? I would not have thought that detailed...

    Starting Your Own Utility Company

I've seen that too and generally find it to be good use of otherwise un-usable space. Rooftop installations on top of warehouses is another possibility.

Never understood those folks :D Powerplants of any type are an eyesore... not sure why panels/windmills get soo much hate.

    Starting Your Own Utility Company

Doing that right now - it's a very long shot but at least an interesting one. In Michigan most electricity comes from Consumers Energy, there are others but not many. Selling to them at wholesale rates is probably the way to go. Community solar isn't yet an option here and I assume that price...

    Starting Your Own Utility Company

Hey folks, what would one need to do to run his/her own utility company or at least sell to an established one at a grid scale? Background I'm quite interested in the renewables/energy transition/recycling thing but found it very hard to make a meaningful contribution. Flying less, eating less...

    Balcony Solar Setup

Hi Jordi, can you share a bit more about your setup? Maybe even photos? Did you add in a battery or do you directly go into the home grid?

    Balcony Solar Setup

Hi @BKMc - thanks for the video, I've already watched it. Matt talks about a company called `we do solar` in this particular video but they only seem to take preorders... Any recommendations as to where I can find suitable panels online?

    Balcony Solar Setup

Ok, so I might have been overly naive - I thought I could just connect the battery to my home electrical installation using one of the discharge ports. In my mind that would make that all home appliances draw from the battery first and only then from the grid :ROFLMAO::LOL: Thanks for pointing...

    Balcony Solar Setup

One of the few advantages of my balcony is that there is no shade whatsoever ?

    Balcony Solar Setup

Hi folks and thanks already for the quick responses. To answer your questions from @ArkCabinMan 1) My balcony is small and I don't believe that I will be able to generate anywhere as much as I need for my apartment. That being said, I have space for 2 panels with 130cm/51in x 76cm/30in. I plan...

    Balcony Solar Setup

I'm looking to get started with a small solar installation on my balcony. The plan is to mount 2 thin panels onto the rail connecting them to a solar generator (EcoFlow River or similar) and then hook them up with a power outlet so I can discharge my collected electricity into my home. Does...
