Extremely overheated BMS, fused Breaker and dead Inverter. What could be the root cause?

What about JK BMS. I am liking the latest model PB2A16S (the one on youtube reviewed by Andy) What would you prefer between JK and JBD?

Extremely overheated BMS, fused Breaker and dead Inverter. What could be the root cause?

Yes I have put a layer of double-sided tape (about 3mm thickness) as well as a PP-board between the bms and the cells. (The PP Board was able to withstand the heat) I have attached the re-packed pictures. This time I screwed down the bms above the cells. There will be no more foams. They only...

Extremely overheated BMS, fused Breaker and dead Inverter. What could be the root cause?

Can you suggest me which brand to use? Yes bro. Maybe a few tiny holes. Aside from that there is no vents. Chinese-branded packs also do not have any vents. They even advertise them with IP ratings.

Extremely overheated BMS, fused Breaker and dead Inverter. What could be the root cause?

I checked all the cells before re-assembly. There was no sign of damage. Even the blue plastic films are intact. No swallowing or buldging. Cell voltages of all 16 cells are within 50mV delta. And one important thing I forgot to mention is all of the cell voltages are around 3.35V only when I...

So this happened today. Inverter is MUST 5.5kW Battery LFP 51.2V 100Ah (DIY) BMS Daly Smart BMS 150A ONCCY DC Breaker 2Pole 125A(non-polarized) The breaker tripped. He tried to switch it to ON again but breaker tripped again. There was smell of burning from battery pack. So he called me...

Bulk buying of JK_BMS and Accessories?

I am a local diy battery reseller and looking to buy many JKBMSes from Alibaba. There are alot of them companies selling JK Bmses and it has been difficult finding the real manufacturer. What is your experience with this? Is buying directly from the manufacturer better or are broker companies a...

Is this 2pole dc breaker polarized or non-polarized? Also is this connection safe?

Thanks for the explanation, so it is still ok to use this Polarized breaker in between Battery and Inverter. (But wired correctly so Battery is the SOURCE and Inv is the LOAD) In the case of someone accidentally or unknowingly opening the Breaker during Charging, the breaker may not burn due to...

Is this 2pole dc breaker polarized or non-polarized? Also is this connection safe?

But I have read that if wired incorrectly(probably meaning inverter as the Source and Battery as the Load connection) , the breaker can catch on fire if it is opened under load from battery. If I wire it so battery is SOURCE and Inverter is LOAD, will there still be a chance for fire if breaker...

Is this 2pole dc breaker polarized or non-polarized? Also is this connection safe?

This breaker is going to be put between battery and inverter. (I havent assembled it yet. And nothing is turned on or plugged in) (Battery + and - is into the bottom of breaker. The top of breaker will go into inverter.) I have it installed reversed as you can see in the picture and wondering...

    Growatt SPF 5000 ES - 5108 Bus voltage high(Fault)

Any luck in finding the solution to this 08 error? I am still facing it when battery charge reaches 100%. (I managed to keep the frequency of it happening lower by reducing charge current to less than 40A) If i set charge current to 50A the error is sure to come within a few minutes. (I have...

    JKBMS Random High Cell Voltages

Please let me drop my question here as well. As I am having similar problems. So you're basically implying that this advertisement is a very bad example of how to connect bms and active balancer to battery? (The balancer in the pic is a dedicated one. It has no comms with the bms.)
  19. Z

    JKBMS Random High Cell Voltages

I am seeing High voltages too when the balancing is ON. Like 100mV higher that it actually is. But during this, the voltage readings on the BMS is absolutely normal.(via bluetooth or the lcd or laptop) For example highest cell shows 3.5V on both Multimeter, BMS display, the cell itself. But the...

    JKBMS Random High Cell Voltages

MIne is DALY bms and balancer like in this pic. Notice that they do use a Y cable. And even sell these cables.

    JKBMS Random High Cell Voltages

Wow my case is the exact opposite of yours. In my case the Balancer's voltages are jumping around when it's balancing. And my setup is similar to yours as well. Single cable going out to batteries on one side of terminal block. Both bms and balancer cables go into the block from the other side.

Cell voltage jumps when balance switch is ON

Would u suggest seperate cables going to the terminal for bms and balancer?
  23. Z

Cell voltage jumps when balance switch is ON

This is the setup. This is only for testing purposes and not for actual usage. The harness wires from BMS and Balancer are put together into one side of the terminal block. (The wire tips are all soldered) BMS voltages are ok both when resting and during charging and discharging.

Cell voltage jumps when balance switch is ON

No i didnt because it will take ages. What I did is I bulk charge the pack using an inverter @3.45Vpc per cell with low current like 10A. Now all other cells are over 3.33V and no.7 is over 3.4V But my concern is not about balancing since I can easily get no.7 down using my EBC 40L...

Cell voltage jumps when balance switch is ON

It is a 1A Daly Smart Active Balancer.(Seperate balancer.) Battery : 51.2V 280Ah BMS : DALY Smart BMS Everything is reading correctly everywhere. Cell voltages are being read correctly by the bms and the balancer as well. One cell no.7 is quite above other cells and hitting high voltage...

I did a bad thing and now need advise to fix it.

All cell voltages are perfectly balanced. (It is only when charging or discharging does cell no.9 was draining/charging up very rapidly and causing bms to shutdown. But the problem seems have disappeared after i disassembled the pack and temporarily reassembled it outside the box and tested...

No it is on the connector. I stripped everything down now. And I tested it again with bms all connected and cell no 9 is no longer causing any troubles. Maybe loose connection was the culprit.

I did a bad thing and now need advise to fix it.

I did it several months ago when I accidentally shorted it with a wrench. It's all laser welded. It is a 51.2V 200Ah pack. The style is 8 batteries facing each other. Very difficult to work in that narrow area. But that damage on the busbar is making me worried to just keep using it. Any...

Possible to top balance and stored alot of LiFePo4 cells? Hundreds of cells?

As soon as I put a very small load.(the charger can discharge as well.) The surface charge goes away quickly.

I should have known better... (sorry, ranting)

So with a charger capable of 5V@60A, but I configured it to 4V@20A for charging, the cell will draw over 20A but not above 60A. ?

resting SoC in Battery Backup system and battery health

Hello sir, your comment totally contradicts with what I searched on the internet. Everyone says storing LFP at high SOC damages the cells. Some even blames sellers for not discharging after matching and balancing cells before shipping out. May I ask whether if your statement is true for all...

I should have known better... (sorry, ranting)

This might be a dumb question :D , if you input 10V into an LFP, the cell converts the volt to whatever it wants, and then amplifies the "Amp"? I mean if you put 10V 10A into the cell, it converts it to lets say 3.5V 28.5A? According to the formula P=VA?

Possible to top balance and stored alot of LiFePo4 cells? Hundreds of cells?

Damn you learn new and totally contradicting stuff everyday on this forum! However, I got a problem with the cells dropping to resting voltage. I have parallelled 10x 202Ah "CATL" cells. (Notice the quotes) They were mostly at about ~3.25Vpc And charged it for over 40+hours with the...
