What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

So in terms of adding my 48v to 24v dc to dc inverter.. or.. converter.. is that wired up to the distributor as well? Or would that come directly off the battery? Unsure where that goes now in this setup so I can power (charge) my river 2 pro 768wh unit.

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

So that means a 48v pack that is 56v max is too much for those? I would rather go with better fuses.. I suspect they seldom if ever blow anyway. But definitely want something that isnt going to blow/trip when my battery is charged up to 50+v.

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

So these LEV60 cells claim up to 600a of peak output (or input?) I think. It's been a damn long time since my electronic class in HS, so I cant remember if you have 16 of them if that multiples, stays the same or what lol. But assuming I will be building a 2nd one soon (have everything but the...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

Love it! Yah.. in my case they are in a ventilated area so should be fine. But I have a few fans I can wire up if need be. Eventually the goal is to move all this in to a garage and set up whole house storage/etc. But for now its just starting out. Build it little by little.. given the costs of...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

That is basically what I am doing, but horizontal as my shelf where it will go isn't tall enough between shelfs for it to fit vertical and definitely not able to be mounted. It's temporary too.. few months or so that's about it. Then I plan on moving it to a portable stand of some sort. The...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

So.. is that BAD if they spark.. is it yet another thing we DIYers should know how to do.. e.g. pre-charge resistor thingy? Or is that just some knowledge some pick up along the way but it wont affect anything? I am guessing the spark is IN the 48/3000 unit itself.. or is it at the switch.. any...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

So an odd slightly off topic but in line with my wiring questions.. when I connect my battery (which is charged to 56.3v right now) pos/neg to the victron (via distributor).. I assume that it wont spark/etc cause I'll have that switch in line and turned off. But once I flip it on.. does the...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

Those little wires though look like they power something like the cerbo OR they are the small wire that comes with the Distributor? I think I saw one in mine.. and I thought I saw some "hack" to enable the LEDs or something. In fact I bought something from amazon per a video that shows how you...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

OK good to know and thanks for link. Other than that, wiring seems correct?

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

Man.. I tell you what.. when setting up a DIY setup like this, there are all sorts of extra costs nobody mentions. LOL. So, given that my one 48v bank is 100a BMS, would a 100a NH be enough? I'd assume I would put that on the pos terminal right before the end of the Distributor (where you have...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

Oh this is a cool setup thank you for sharing. Ok I think I am getting the general idea. So on the POS side I see you have the switch, is there a fuse ALSO (not shown) going to the battery (and is it on pos or neg side.. shouldnt matter I dont think)? In the pic you have the Victron battery...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

Interesting. OK. Well I did get the 500a battery monitor which I thought goes between the Distributor and battery NEG cable to give me details on the one 48v battery bank I have. I don't know if there is some way to tie in that China BMS to the Victron app, doubt it. So I got the distributor vs...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

How would that work if you have 2 or 3 different battery setups though? Or can you not mix different AH/WH 48v battery banks using the Distributor? I assumed part of the point of the 4 posts were to handle multiple power sources, e.g. MPTT/solar, multiple batteries, etc.. and that the end (if...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

Oh very cool.. I didn't see this or missed it! So up to around 15 feet in length I could handle 2AWG. So the one thing I can't seem to figure out is where I attach cables from inverter to the distributor. I assume the inverter goes on the end +/- and the battery attaches to one of the 4 ports...

What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

So I read all the links that popped up regarding this and they are all for 12v and couple for 24v which if I read correctly from other posts 12v uses much thicker wire than 24v and 48v is even smaller. However, I want to be sure before I finish my battery and wire everything up. I have the...

Help with wiring up Inverter/Charger, battery, DC->DC, etc (all victron)

Hey all, So I think I have the gist of all this but wanted to get some assurance. I have a 48/3000 MK2 Victron (the one with the green spring connectors). I am building 2 48v 74ah (LEV60 Jehu rack batteries) with only 1 about ready to be wired up.. second one down the road. I have the Cerbo...

Charged to 3.9v.. how to discharge

Alright.. so I am charging the 3.3 (the one that was 3.8) back up to 3.5, and the other (3.2) up to 3.5). I think the rest are around 3.4 to 3.5. So I'll get the battery parts set up, then hit each right before I put the PCB on and bolt it down and connect it. Thanks for your help.

Charged to 3.9v.. how to discharge

Got it. So from 3.2 to about 3.55 or so its "slow". But once it nears that end curve it goes fast both charging and discharging. So charging I just have to keep testing the battery until I see it hit about 3.45 and then keep checking quick. One thing I havent figured out. I charge to 3.5. Then...

Charged to 3.9v.. how to discharge

Hi.. not sure why you asked on ignore? I don't fully grok all this so I apologize if you explain something and maybe I ask again.. not trying to be an ass. I understand a little bit of the graph. What I dont understand is how my 3.8v went to 3.5v in minutes while the 3.2v didnt move. How did it...

Charged to 3.9v.. how to discharge

Hmm.. so I tried that approach.. I put the battery that was at 3.8v to the 3.2v in parallel. I checked it and what I noticed is instantly the 3.8v was dropping down in voltage. The 3.2v didnt go up much. I then took it off last night before going to bed.. it only was connected for about 20...

Charged to 3.9v.. how to discharge

OK.. friend who has built a few batteries said to connect a lower voltage cell (same cell) in parallel to help discharge higher to lower. Had another one at 3.2v so figured 3.8 to 3.2 will equalize to about 3.5 each. I'll keep an eye on it make sure it stays around 3.5. Goal is to top charge all...

Charged to 3.9v.. how to discharge

Hey all, somehow my little crappy 10a/30v variable bench supply got rotated to 3.9v instead of 3.5 that I was set on. So now I have my LEV60 3.5v max charged up to 3.92v. I took charger off its down to 3.88 so far.. but is there a way to discharge it faster, safely? I don't have any sort of 3v...

48v 16 cell.. do i need to charge individual cells before I put in series and charge?

OK.. and I am OK if it takes a few weeks.. I'd MUCH rather have my cells in tip top balanced condition before I assemble the 48v battery. But it's odd to me that none of the videos seem to talk about this one step. Like.. I would preface ANY new battery setup with "BTW.. you need to top balance...

48v 16 cell.. do i need to charge individual cells before I put in series and charge?

Thank you for that SOC bit.. actually helped. So I don't know if I have bad batteries or it really does take a few days to charge one from 3.3 to 3.5v? I let it go all day, checked it multiple times too. Just one single cell, 30v/10a bench supply, using the battery terminal grips it came with...

48v 16 cell.. do i need to charge individual cells before I put in series and charge?

OK.. well shoot.. I just put one on the power.. its set to 3.5v. It's been on for 6 hours, started at 3.30 its at 3.36. I guess these 74ah take about 40+ hours or so to charge just one up. It's only at 2a and it's barely moved from v. I assumed from the videos it wouldn't take this lone for one...

48v 16 cell.. do i need to charge individual cells before I put in series and charge?

OK.. so last question then.. should I put them ALL in parallel (I did buy 40 bus bars to connect them together) and charge it that way? I would prefer not only because I already have the batteries in the rack mount with the compression rods in place.. so was hoping to avoid taking it all out...

Charge single LifePO4 or in groups for a 48v pack?

Charge single LifePO4 or in groups for a 48v pack?

I don't know what to say. These are LEV60 from Jag35. They are from japan I believe not china and have a 3.5 max instead of 3.65 max so.. maybe these arrive around 3.0 instead? I plan to order another 16 soon and will check those when they arrive.

Charge single LifePO4 or in groups for a 48v pack?

I have had them for about 2 months.. so maybe they discharged a bit? Not sure. No load on them all that time though. But I DID put the 48v PCB on them so they were all in series for a while but no load.

48v 16 cell.. do i need to charge individual cells before I put in series and charge?

Yah.. sorry.. that is what I am doing. Set the voltage, then apply the leads. Yeah the connection from the cheap one is thin wire alligator clips.. so that makes sense. Likely cant push more amps. SO.. because they settle by about .5v it seems (is that normal..if so how you ever get them all to...

48v 16 cell.. do i need to charge individual cells before I put in series and charge?

Hey thank you for this. So I have used my little 30v/10a charger (that I got for drone bench work). I also bought a 2nd one on amazon because figured charging each cell would take a while. So I am not sure if I am doing something wrong at this point. When I put my drone one (little tiny...

48v 16 cell.. do i need to charge individual cells before I put in series and charge?

Ah.. didnt know that they stop once one cell gets there. The BMS has 17 wires that plug in to my PCB.. one for each cell. I assumed this was to monitor the cell and/or balance them. Maybe it's just to monitor each cell? From the video Jehu shares, it looks like the little display that you can...

48v 16 cell.. do i need to charge individual cells before I put in series and charge?

Ah.. ok.. so I do have it all assembled.. just took off the PCB that puts them all in series to turn it in to a 48v battery pack. I thought it was basically best to first top balance before you turn in to a 48v battery? It wont damage/degrade the cells using the built in BMS to charge first...

48v 16 cell.. do i need to charge individual cells before I put in series and charge?

OK.. so if I understand everything.. I will wire up 32 x 14awg wires of equal length with round connectors on the ends that get attached to each pole and bolted on. I then twist tie (or attach) 16 pos to one single thicker wire and same for the 16 neg, to put all 16 cells in parallel. Those two...
