    Budget 7KW battery system

I have a grid tied (Enphase) system on my home and decided I wanted to add batteries to run my fridge and small appliances for emergencies. My solar contractor wanted 8-10 grand for budget Enphase battery system. This was way to much for what wanted so this was my compromise. 800 watts of solar...

    balancing new 12.8v 280ah

More questions, my Weize 12v 20amp battery charger specifies not to leave unattended. Is this really necessary. Its supposed to be a smart charger. What is the consensus on this. I had planned on using a wall timer to turn off AC to the charger after a specified time. Is leaving it attached...

I just received a pair of Chins 12.8v 280 ah batteries. The both read 13.19v. Should I charge them individually to 100% or just install them (parallel) as they are.

    Question about Enphase IQ8A output.

I just had an Enphase Grid Tied system installed on my Florida home. I have 11 - 405 watt REC panels with IQ8A micro inverters on one branch. I am confused about the output current and total energy in the system. The combiner box and main panel only have one 20amp breaker. I questioned the...

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

After going thru the setup for the LM YN DC 12V Digital Thermostat I decided to post them to help. To me the instruction and actual function of the unit do not agree. My heat pads come on at 34 degrees "F" and go off at 38 degrees "F". TEMP SET at 38.0 PO=H P1=4 NOTE: The sensor is taped on top...

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

Update: I have been using the LM YN DC 12V Digital Thermostat on my Battleborn heat pads for a year now. This morning it was 29 degrees "F", so I went out to check the Battery temperature. OMG !! the batteries were at 70 degrees "F". WTF !!! It took me a couple of minutes to realize the...

Extending LiFePo4 battery life by using different charging profile.

I would prefer longevity over peak performance in my LiFePo4 batteries. Would using lets say an AGM1 profile (14.1-13.4) extend the life of my batteris in the long run. ??

400 watt 300 AH Van Build

Good Question. Solar, about $5200 total. This includes wiring and misc hardware. 4 x 100 panels, 3 x 100 Battleborn, Renogy Dcc30S MPPT Alternator charging, Victron IP67 17A 110v charger. Van build, $12,500, this includes the Solar costs. A lot of the materials (wood wire hardware) were recycled...

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

The new settings are working out great, 34-38 on the thermostat produces 34 to 41 actual on the batteries. The thermostat shuts off at 38, but the temp rises some after it trips. I adjusted the P2 setting to -1 so the thermostat reading would match the temp on my Victron monitor. I really like...

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

24 is the lowest. So far it only comes on in the early morning hours. The daytime temps are above freezing so it does not run during the day. It takes about 6 hours to cool back down. I am sure it will be much faster in extreme cold. I will know more after the weekend. Friday night it will be...

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

UPDATE: After several days of testing I have come to the conclusion that the temperature spread on the heating pads does not need to be so large. I have two battleborn heat pads surrounding (3) 100AH Battleborn batteries. Each heat pad has two elements, so four heating elements total. The power...

DOH !! The table mount is manufactured by "LAGUN", not lagon.

400 watt 300 AH Van Build

The Lagon mount is pretty strong. My table is 38x24, this is about as big a table as it will support. There is some movement, but not enough to cause things to spill. The loss in stability is made up for with its versatility. You can position against the wall or extend your counter top.

400 watt 300 AH Van Build

Back in May I decided if I was going to enjoy my retirement with Covid-19 I needed a Off Grid Van. Dec 10th, 1000 hrs labor later it was complete. It would not have been possible without Forums and Youtube.

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

Yes, its clearly in the battleborn instructions that the temp sensor goes between the heating pad and the battery. So I called Battleborn 30 minutes ago, and they said that the sensor goes on top of the battery. I pointed out what there instructions said and they replied that they need to be...

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

Update: This morning the bat temp was -1C. No power to the heating pads. So I spliced in the spare temp switch (thermostat) and bingo I get 3.5 amp draw. I start to put things away and the amp draw stops. This is exactly what happened to the first sensor. It ran for about 90 seconds and failed...

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

My thermostat is mounted on the battery side, under the heat pad right below the notch for the battery strap. HRTKD what thermostat did you switch to. Its getting cold enough tonight the battery should be below -2C. If the thermostat does not come on then I will need to do something else.

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

This morning my battery temp was 0 degree "C". My battleborn heat pads were not working. I thought they came on at 34 F (1C). If I jumper the ground to bypass thermostat they work great. Kind of disappointed. tomorrow am it should be -1C. Will see if this makes a difference. :-(

Renogy DC DC Charger w/ MPPT

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

I may do that. They sent me an extra temp sensor. It would be easy to have one in two places to see the difference. I am using 2" foil back fiberglass insulation to cover my batteries.

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

OK, I got my system running and have some serious questions. Hoping you guys and gals can help me. I started my system up this morning (24 degrees "F"ambient) The battery temp was 32 degree "F". The Amps immediately went to 3.8, so I figured my two heating pads were working. Then 90 seconds...

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

I don't think so, they are not tight in my box. The battery ends have a protrusion for the strap 1/4". It touches the foam, but there is plenty of room 1/4" for the pad. Also the foam is soft enough to allow for some expansion. Side to side there is space between each battery.

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

Now that they are installed its hard to measure. They are about 1/4 higher then the edge of the lower battery case. I would say 8.25 to 8.5". They wrap around 3 sides plus 6". That's 7 + 12.75 + 7 + 6. So approximately 32.75". There web site says 8.5 x 29.5. Of course they just put there new...
