2x 50 or one 110

[S/V Suntrack]

I am planning on putting a sunpower 110 watt panel on the dodger. Would it be better to use two 50 watt panels with individual controllers to minimize power loss from the shade from the mast? I am also thinking that if I had an extra long wire the panel could be moved around the deck to get max power when at anchor.
