Add Battery to Small Grid Tie System

I have a grid tie system composed of 2 arrays of 1000w each running at 12v into 2 separate 1000w GTIL limiting inverters. On sunny days I’m not using all the power generated so I want to add a battery to the system so that I can use the excess power later that day or the following morning. I think the best and least expense way to do it is via DC coupling but I’m not sure. If DC coupling is the way I should go I need assistance determining which charge controller specifications I need and the amp hour battery I would need. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
