Switching to lifepo4. I have an ancient xantrex freedom 10 inverter/charger which does not have lithium settings. I also have 1500w of solar with Rich Solar controllers that have a lithium setting. I will be installing a big bank so I can go a couple days with no sun. With that much solar, the only time I will need to run the generator to charge is a very rare cloudy stretch. An even then i would never be using it to charge all the way up, just bump up enough to get thru the night.

Based on this use case, is it actually necessary that i get a new inverter/charger? Or is the overcharging issue only a problem when batteries are charged near full?

Just make sure your charge settings are 57.2v max bulk and 55v max float 48v is a reasonable low warning not much usable energy beyond this point and 46v shutdown BMS should do the rest.
