I started this Off-topic thread to draw attention away from another thread I accidentally commented in.

This video was just posted on Youtube about Elon Musk, and why he has suddenly started to buy Social Media platforms.
Could it possibly be in exchange for China letting him start and run the ShangHai Giga factory, Maybe to get unlimited on time high quality supplies, and share a modest section of the booming Chinese EV market?
Last week another Giant, H & M was ousted from China. Did they object to perform the governments bidding?
As much as I love Elon and his achievements, I am worried.

Elon could have built a battery company here in the USA for the 43 billion. But regulatory BS in the United States is a business start up killer. We want green energy but don't want to know how much green technology destroys the environment. And all the slave labor in China makes it more profitable as well.

China is trying to open a company in Ohio that makes the paper insolation used in lithium batteries. Residents are trying to block it because of all the pollution associated with making lithium batteries.

I also think it's funny how everyone is attacking Elon but doesn't care Jeff (bozo) Bezos owns the Washington Post and uses it as his political weapon for Amazon.

Elon could have built a billion dollar battery factory in Chilean northern desert where the Lithium is Harvested, or anywhere on ship route upwards from there. He wouldn't have to hire slaves, cause wages are very low. Cleaner tech is coming. We should have cheap, earth abundant material alternatives to Lithium in global mass production within 5 years.

Washington Post is not really comparable to Twitter, that reaches and engages us all around the world.
I'm not going to go into Amazon, or Mr Bezos, cause hopefully it's beyond the scope of this Thread.

I think Elon's purchase of Twitter is a good thing. I first started taking note of what Elon was saying when he pointed out that the U.S. needed to produce more gasoline. Coming from a guy that built an EV company, that was practically an heretical statement.

I'm not on Twitter/FB/whatever, so I don't really have a dog in this fight. Will he be able to fix Twitter? That remains to be seen. There may be too much "dark state" embedded in Twitter to fix it.

My thread is about a video that reveals the under lying ( rational, economical ) motives behind his actions. Not about Elons character.
Would anybody really think that he has fanatical misbeliefs, when considering his ravaging success?

I think it is best to just take what he is doing at face value ..... the endless speculation about what could go wrong is ridiculous. Twitter has already improved and he doesn't even officially own it yet.

If things start going wrong .... complain about it when it happens. The endless attempts by some to make themselves relevant .... like the guy in that video .... to keep people angry and scared are getting tiring.

The question I have is not who owns Twitter. For me the vital question is Who owns Tesla, and - Elon now? He has put a large part of his company under the protection of a foreign autocracy. Also, a large part of his production depends on Chinese battery production and delivery. A Ukrainian multi millionaire recently demanded his countrys military to bomb his own newly built mansion to pieces because it had fallen into enemy hands. Would Elon have the heart to do the same with a relevant part of his life creation? Of course I hope he never has to consider making such a decision.

That Ukrainian guy is epic. A hero. Elon Musk bought twitter to end its censorship and tells Putin he will destroy him.
As far as I am concerned, Elon Musk is a national treasure and its time to amend the constitution so he could run for president.

A Chinese Communist Party controlled national treasure?

He just sold of half of his Tesla shares, no wonder why. Elon is dope when it comes to bringing the world into the future, but Letting his new car company with all of its enthusiastic shareholders become shanghaied by Beijing was a major strategic miscalculation. He would better have opened a competing to BYD and CATL Giga Battery factory in Chile or somewhere up towards Mexico.

Musk himself is a loudmouth narcissist seeking attention on the internet. The world doesn't really need anymore of those.

Tesla seems pretty cool. I wish they'd make something closer to a Civic than a Crown Vic though. At some point we should embrace efficiency, as opposed to the current method, which is, "which version of gluttony is best?".

SpaceX also seems cool and Starlink is exciting.

Musk himself though, just a loudmouth.

The Elon I know from public media is a quiet thoughtful and discrete person. You must mean somebody else.

He would probably disagree with you on that. Anyway, Elon has been Shanghaied by Beijing too so they can replace the current source code of Twitter with the source code of Chinese Wee-chat.

Right

Actually, each person has both good and bad qualities. Elon is a good manager and specialist but has a weird personality. And I think he understands it, but he can't act another way. Anyway, he's a much better person than those fake Instagram influencers who think they influence people somehow. We should accept it. Actually, Instagram has its pluses and minuses. You can use it to help launch a business. That's exactly what I did. I bought some subscribers at https://famoid.com/buy-instagram-followers/ and decided to create an online shop. Now I have 3 of them. On the other hand, instagram ruins people's lives by wasting our time. That's what our world looks like nowadays.

I watched that video about Elon Musk too, and it's quite intriguing, isn't it? IDK about the Shanghai Giga factory connection, but it could be a smart move to secure supplies and a slice of the EV market. And I'm totally on the same page regarding Elon – his innovations are awe-inspiring, but venturing into uncharted territory always brings concerns.
And speaking of intriguing stuff online, have you checked out ways to boost your social media presence? You can buy cheap Instagram views to increase your engagement. It may be worth exploring. ?.
