I have an old solar thermal system to refurbish, one that used the old sunspool draindown valve HG-SPOOL
for freeze protection. The sunspool is dead (been dead maybe 15 years :)

I'm writing to see if anyone is using the KC4500-00 Vernatherm Freeze Protection Valves, and how it's working out.
I'm in a mild non-freezing climate, with 2-3 nights per year with clear cold conditions that can freeze external pipes.
At least, now, the climate is shifting....

There is a guy who can rebuild your sunspool Valve in San Diego -I can dig up that info if you want it -I have sent him two valves over time and bought one from him as well.
There are often sunspools on ebay as well-they come in 1/2 and 3/4 connections so make note of that. When that valve dies it just the expansion part and thats what this guy replaces. You only send in the electric part with the plastic valve guts sticking out.
