Just for the sake of it I made a little box for an inverter which acts as a wind tunnel with an almost silent computer fan. I noticed the inverter getting especially hot during these past summer days and it's little built-in fan whirring away at 119dba.
The inverter is rasied a few mm in the box which gives it an air gap around the entire shell and keeps it cool to the touch, now it's noisy built-in fan has not come on at all.
