JK BMS: does this not speak any protocol that the 18KV will take?

I'm trying to get my Luxpower to speak to the battery pack, because if it doesn't have comms, it won't run the inverter. Currently I'm setting it to LA to get it to work because I can't seem to get the thing to talk to the B2A24S115P using any of the protocols it maps to in the manual. I would have thought Pylon would be common to any BMS and inverter combo, but I'm seeing indications that the JKBMS doesn't talk Pylontech? I am using RS485 but I've tried CAN as well just in case. I don't know if the wiring for CAN is the same as 485 or if the dongle I got for the JK needs to be rewired for CAN.

Any pointers? Given the popularity of the JKBMS, I would think this isn't the first time this question was asked but I can't find any posts relating.

Indeed it does not talk directly.

But if you are savvy with tech you can try this to get it to work:
