Hi all,
I'm not sure if I'm reading this right so I'm hoping someone can reassure me.
I have a fully off grid site without solar.
I have a ~10000W generator with a 240V US output that I would like to use as the charging source for lifepo4 batteries.

The specs of the LVX6048WP are here: https://www.mppsolar.com/v3/catalogs/LVX6048WP.pdf
They state that the AC input can be 50/60Hz and 120/240V

Linked on the product page is this generator requirements doc: https://www.mppsolar.com/v3/catalogs/generator requirement.pdf
It states the following:

*below is for 220-240v European single phase type; North American 120v is marked in black

For European 240V Systems:
Vrms range: 100 ~ 270Vac

For North American 120V Systems:
Vrms range: 65 ~ 140Vac
There is overlap of the voltage range on the Euopean 240V spec that would cover the USA 240V spec, but since I'm about to drop a lot of money on this thing I'm tweaking on the omission. This unit will work with a USA 240V generator, right?

There are a lot of things wrong with the documentation for this unit. In this situation it will only take split phase 240v (120v per phase) input. Another thing wrong in the documentation is the amount of panels you can connect to the unit. For other problems not related to documentation, see here https://diysolarforum.com/threads/n...6048wp-ul-certified.23505/page-10#post-601209

I never buy first gen anything let somebody else be the crash test dummy

I would call watts 24/7 and ask him about your concerns and if he says it will work place the order right then with the understanding he’s going to get them back if it doesn’t work, he’s not a salesman in china saying anything to make the sale, he doesn’t make money on returns

Thanks all!
I also emailed MPP Solar. The person I think confirmed that it'll work, but I could also read it as them dodging the specific question about North American 240V:

Good day,

We like to confirm that

LVX 6048WP works with both 120vac gensent or Split phase 240vac genset. .

I am charging from a potentially dirty source (traditional generator, not an inverter generator). So the reports that it might not work with that mean I may want to avoid all in ones completely.
I was hoping for simplicity of setup with an all in one, but maybe that's a pipe dream.

The EG4 chargeverter would do the charging amps I want, so that's tempting.

Yeah. That plus the relatively high idle draw has me leaning toward separate components. I don't have much AC need to start, so the Victron 1200VA inverter should work, and it only draws something like 10W idle.

Since I won't have solar for a while, all the Wh I can save are precious.
