Today I will be starting a new build for my van and thought I would start a build series thread for anyone doing the same thing or who might have an interest.

The core components are:
  • 16 Eve 310AH cells (the claim is they are grade A, they all tested at 320+ah)
  • Nation's 280xp dual alternator kit
  • Wakespeed 500
  • Rec active BMS system with their wifi module
We got a little storm yesterday so working outside is not sounding exciting, but my goal for today is to get the 4p4s battery all hooked up, then maybe tomorrow getting under the van.

Security system, shows cold and wet

Took at trip to the po box to get a few more parts, stopped at the depot for hardware, and filled up the generac 6500 for running the saw.

I configured the cells for measuring

Found a piece of scrap wood, 1/2 baltic birch that I'll use for this project

I cut everything about a .25 too long to true up everything by bringing it in after establishing straight lines on the saw

Next step back to the batteries to get more measurements, this time with my wood carcasses

I glancing at my transition I think about taking a few pieces of angle to build the box out of metal... but metal and electric never sits right with me

Pulling it all together I cut my allthread to length and filed the tips so bolts could go on, cut the cutting boards to size, and sandwich everything

Started wiring, my 4/0wire is at my bus so I'll need to make those cables tomorrow. My plan is to get the battery hooked up, install the altenator, then wire in the wakespeed

It is odd, when I use my voltage meter I get all the cells at 3.33, but recs wifi shows the following

How do all these setting look? When I first check the max cell voltage was set to 3.85...

Today after messing with my clutch fan for a bit I came to the realization I needed a special tool... So the altenator isn't installed.

I did take out my 544ah of lishens and installed the new 1240ah eve bank. It's currently charging from my multiplus which is plugged into my generac... only 6 hours until charged according to recs wifi screen... I also was disappointed to find out rec makes a Bluetooth module, so I requested information about that... I think the wifi module was only a few hundred dollars... Everytime I jump into technology it changes.... including the server racks everyone seems to be switching too... but anyways.. it feels good to have the new bank in... going to do a shake down test this week while I wait for amazon to deliver the pneumatic clutch tool... and next weekend I'm going skiing so it will be a few weeks before the altenator goes in
