Hi all
I have a 10 year old 4kw solar system.
I wish to charge my hot water cylinder (I have a pretty old diverter which switches a 1.5kw immersion on at 1.6kw) and when up to temperature switch over to charge my EV via a dedicated 13 amp socket (the EV granny lead limits the charge to 2.4kw) I already have a pod point ev charger so I have no wish to spend another £1500 on an Eddi and Zappi, is there anything else available as I only pay 7.5p per kw to charge the car at night and £1500+ seems a lot of money to spend especially as it would have a very long payback time.

Hi... only just spotted your posting when I was replying to another one about solar water diverters. If you're not into building your own, then there is the Marlec iBoost available in the UK - still expensive at about £320, but less than the £1500 you mentioned for the Eddi system.
