Temperature difference from battery to charger with LiFePO4 battery, does it matter?

I bought a Victron SmartSolar mppt 100/50 charge controller and am reading the manual prior to replacing my Morningstar tristar 45 with it. It states that the temperature difference should not be more than 5 degrees C. I'm thinking this only applies to lead acid, Am I wrong? My batteries are mounted outside so there will be a considerable difference at times.

Consider,
This sends actual battery votage and temperature to the controller.
Smart shunt is an alternative.

As stand alone the controller uses internal temp for lead acid charge volts temperature compensation.

Low temp charge Inhibit for lithium needs the Battery Sense/ Smart Shunt for reference temperature.
