  • Post in thread: Powering a Mint Split unit in an RV by solar and lithium batteries

Here is another well documented off grid person running a lot of stuff with a lot of solar panels and battery with extra power house trailer. http://offgrid100.com/ It has data logger analysis of the solar and usage. Plus cold, hot, shady, and cloudy data. Please read the blog and...
  • Post in thread: Goal Zero?

Many people are going for the AC200 Bluetti for $1299 with more capacity and solar inputs and 2000 Watts inverter. Will's Youtube channel done reviews on it. If you want to go with Goal Zero 1400, that's not bad for what you want to use and you pay more for a solid reputable company. You can...
  • Post in thread: Is this 12V battery better than Battle Born?

Here is another more technical reviewer by mjlorton from his bench of testing equipment with discharge data: Results: it is up to spec and he is happy with it.
  • Post in thread: Which 60-Cell or 72-Cell Panels for my system

The add later portion: If you plan to add it to the same series/parallel string, it needs to the same type of panels. Or you can start a new string with similar panels to a different charge controller. Important to match them. So plan ahead and make sure you can get the same panels. Most...
  • Post in thread: Sol-Ark

There are many conversations about Sol-Ark via the "Search" option in this forum. YouTuber Engineer775 and AltEStore got videos if you look. To sum it up, it is a good product. Few forum members have them installed. Just out of reach for DIYers. Easy to use and it has all the features you...
  • Post in thread: Tripp-lite UPS

It will work. Just don't plug back the AC plug to the wall to charge the UPS' new Lifepo4 battery. That default charge profile on the UPS is meant for the SLA/LA batteries. Use a SCC or differ DC charger instead. If the UPS is rated 1000VA, you would run it at 700Watt max. Their spec would...
  • Post in thread: Victrons European/Int'l equipment has an input range of 187-265 VAC and 45-65hz, and outputs 230 or 240 VAC at 50hz or 60hz

I asked an youtuber devildestiny555 about MPP Solar 5048MK inverter that does 240v @ 60hz in the US market. He is able to use it to run the house mini-splits with it offgrid for around two years now. His answer was, if is 240v @ 60hz and the appliances could take that, it doesn't care, 240v...
  • Post in thread: Oil in vacuum tubes

Not related to your questions above, but the below videos would give you ideas to alter or give insights on your house designs if you haven't done so. You might want to look at Earthship designs? Here is the some videos with Earthship. Completely off grid. Not sure if you have the space in...
  • Post in thread: Spartan automatic transfer switch

Here is the Moes/Spartan ATS(Auto Transfer Switch) video that Will reviewed and explained it in better details. The OP was asking why the high load draw, in this case the AC 12K BTU window type air conditioner would caused the battery voltage to drop and caused the ATS relay to switch over to...
  • Post in thread: Sol-Ark 12K with AC coupling

The new Enphase IQ Envoy has a consumption CTs and it can curtail the Enphase IQ series to no export to the grid.
  • Post in thread: Any one seen Michael Caro?

You should direct message him. or do the @Michael B Caro to get his attention. I had ordered the first batch from Michael last year. . He seems to be still active in the forums.
  • Post in thread: Spartan automatic transfer switch

You can monitor with the meter for min and max on the battery when the high load kicks on so you have an idea what that number is. Once you know that, you can set the minimum low voltage for the cut over. The ATS switching to high loads actually prolong the the battery or the inverter's life.
  • Post in thread: DC 12V to AC inverter: can make a product to dual voltage 110V and 220V in a single inverter?

So true, but we love challenge ourselves with odd questions and try to find a solution.
  • Post in thread: AC Coupling for off grid applications

Try this Made in the U.S.A newly announced product that will run purely off solar panels without battery or inverter. Sounds like what you want. Just $$$ expensive. https://suntechdrive.com/technology/ Intro video in action by Engineer775 @ youtube. Pico In action video at a job site...
  • Post in thread: Top Balance voltage drops

I do have a shunt for monitor. Hope to see 280ah on full discharge/disconnect by BMS or inverter. We will find out in a few days. Thanks.
  • Post in thread: Tell me about SolArk.

The last time I emailed them about product information when 12K was released, i have been emailing them for years from the SolArk 3K days, they told me the latest demand for their 8K and 12K products exceeded their expectations and they plan to go the contractors/partners support model instead...
  • Post in thread: Hey to all, I am new here and looking for help! I live on a boat for the past17 yrs., in that, I've gone through a few batteries (lead-acid).

Option 2 is for redundancy with two BMS for two 12V individual battery bank. Could take one offline for maintenance. Etc. Safer bet when out at sea.
  • Post in thread: Shutting down a system for the winter...

Not sure what type of batteries you have. It doesn't like to be idle too long without charging them in the cold. Maybe you could take the batteries with you and trickle charge it at home? Disconnect all the solar to charger. Protected the PV wires with PVC pipe if your worry about the...

Here is the video explain in great technical details how Victron converts DC to AC, why their inverts could change some components to meet each region voltages and frequencies. It applies to all inverters actually. Same principles. DC to FET low voltage AC sine wave and transformer to higher...

  • Post in thread: E Bike

Most ebikes are 36volts and up. That means, you can't charge it via a small 12v panels or 24v panels on top of the truck without doing series or a bigger high voltage panels. Your need a few panels to bring up the voltages higher than 36vs as an example. or use a boost charge controllers like...
  • Post in thread: Tell me about SolArk.

Rapid shutdown button is exactly what it said mandate by state or city electrical code for safety of fire fighters and other emergency personnel. You can look it up to see if your location requires it. The SolArk shutdown button under the unit won't be accessible by emergency personnel so you...

My SEER 27 is a 7 years old Fujitsu 9K BTU @ 240v @ 60hz. I just checked, they have a 33 SEER model now. https://www.acwholesalers.com/Fujitsu-9RLS3YH/p79842.html I know we can do the new 16s @ 280ah batteries with 14KW of energy. I was just pulling numbers from the video to do the analysis...
  • Post in thread: AC coupling for grid tied solar.

You would be looking at Hybrid-Inverters like: Sol-Ark 8K or 12K, Magnum MS-4448PAE, Schneider XW, Outbak Skybox types where you take the Solar Edge inverter's output(Batteryless Utilty-Interactive inverters) and feed into the Hybrid-Inverters input so it could do "frequency shifting" to the...
  • Post in thread: Backup generator question from a newbie

Not sure how your Magnum setup or the series of the inverter. I assume it is the MS40XX model. Here is the picture from their installation manual with AGS, RC remote, and BMK battery kit. The ME-RC50 remote works together with the AGS and BMK to kick off the low battery detection...

  • Post in thread: Powering a Mint Split unit in an RV by solar and lithium batteries

Sorry this gone off topic to swamp coolers. Back to topic: So here's what I need as simple as possible: 1 Is this possible ? [Yes, or maybe , read the analysis below] 2. Would a five hundred watt solar system do this ? [ Maybe not, look at the numbers below, not enough solar to charge or...
  • Post in thread: E Bike

We over planned for you since this solar first, other methods come second. Yes, get an small pure sine inverter that is within or over the wattage of the eBike charger and plug that in 12v port and let it charge while driving. Get a long extension cord for it and you will be all set if you...
