    sorry, this is FLA batteries
  • Post in thread: ELI5: Bus bars

I'm trying to do some cleanup on my RV electrical system, and I feel like I need a nice summary of how to use bus bars. Right when I think I understand, I see some diagram or photo that makes it look like power is just going to be running back and forth all over the place, instead of in a more...
  • Post in thread: System can't keep up after upgrades and reconfiguration

ok, to wrap up this thread.... 1. I need to watch water levels better. Tops of the plates were kinda/sorta exposed, maybe. Still wet, but way too low. 2. I need to possibly rethink some power draws, at least temporarily. 3. I need to reassess actual daily watts/amps usage and see how that...

Everything on the roof is combined w/ MC4 branches. I could add some MC4 and combine w/ portable panels in the battery compartment just before the SCC. I already have the parts, would just need the extra cable length for the portable panels.
  • Post in thread: How many volts can I safely send to my power station?

Thanks guys, I think that makes sense. Nice catch on their being only one DC input port. (originally I thought the left port was just a different style plug for solar, but I think it's a fuse, aka 'charging overload protection switch') So me trying to send 44.8v/200W from two 100W solar panels...
  • Post in thread: Beginner needs to buy components before going to Mexico

Do you have Telmex cell service at your casa in Mexico? Had some friends who got insanely good cell data service even though they lived in edge of nowhere, Jalisco. It was something like this: https://telmex.com/web/hogar/internet-inalambrico-telmex
  • Post in thread: Fusing and busbars

ok, FINALLY got this diagrammed out to-scale (approximately) - I *think* everything will fit this way. I hope... [UPDATED IMAGE]
  • Post in thread: Fused Disconnects?

I guess this is why Tesla used to claim DC was more dangerous than AC... I've seen that recommended, the Nate guy I think. So something like this for ? http://www.midnitesolar.com/productPhoto.php?product_ID=197&productCatName=Breakers&productCat_ID=16&sortOrder=13&act=p 15A for panel > SCC...

I am Boondocking in the forest. Tomorrow is next scheduled run into town.
  • Post in thread: System can't keep up after upgrades and reconfiguration

SG levels still very weak. 2 slightly older batteries: avg 1.150 2 newer batteries: avg 1.210 This is not good :(
  • Post in thread: Fused Disconnects?

I have an ANL fuse there already, and I probably have room for a rotary disconnect (like Blue Sea). I think my inverter has a fuse, but probably not a breaker.

Slide-outs have built-in awnings. Plenty of room on the roof or another couple of solar panels, at least. Solar. We have our 32-foot Class C, a similar sized Lazy Daze, a medium fiver, two Airstreams, one smaller trailer, three Class B vans and one truck camper.
  • Post in thread: Beginner needs to buy components before going to Mexico

Depends on price of 50-100 feet of cable vs. separate battery. You would need to keep this battery charged too…

The #1 in this photo is going into this box: (looked it up - Generator transfer relay)
  • Post in thread: System can't keep up after upgrades and reconfiguration

You say one battery...but all cells in two of the batteries are low at 1.150 I separated them this morning. Original two batteries are now charging, RV operating on house batteries so no load at all on solar battery bank. I have used two different formulas to estimate solar panel needs: 1...
  • Post in thread: Fusing and busbars

ok, 98% complete. Still didn't get the one scc temp sensor taped to a battery, might need a few more cable hold-downs, but at least it's not *quite* a rat's nest, and I did save lots of cable length. Some of the odd angles make it look like some sort of weird electronics art project LOL Also...
  • Post in thread: System can't keep up after upgrades and reconfiguration

Are you really saying that no amount of solar panel watts are enough to charge a battery bank in an RV??? You just basically ruled out 90% of the RV solar installs currently in use. People are running Air Conditioning, washer/dryer units, microwaves, full-sized residential fridges, etc. Yes...
  • Post in thread: Fusing and busbars

I am aware of the issues involved, and we've connected to a few sketchy hookups here and there. But I haven't yet been able to overcome the cost/benefit issue. I should, but probably won't ?‍♂️
  • Post in thread: System can't keep up after upgrades and reconfiguration

I live in my RV. 48-state limit, but avoid freezing temps. these are poly panels Will try to find better specs, but these are unbranded panels from Windynation. Unsure how to better calculate cold temp voc
  • Post in thread: How many volts can I safely send to my power station?

I am fully aware of the brand and model, obviously. I simply do not have the unit itself and/or the manual in-hand. It is definitely an AliBaba-style purchase (even though I bought it through Amazon) so I was looking for info.
  • Post in thread: System can't keep up after upgrades and reconfiguration

this controller auto-senses voltage. I tested all cables at all stages w/ ammeter.
  • Post in thread: Class C Integration Possibilities?

I have searched the forums and the mobile-solarpower site but did not find any guides for fully integrating solar to an existing RV without pre-wiring. We've been full-timing w/ a completely separate solar system, connecting the easy way by plugging the shore power into the inverter. The...
  • Post in thread: System can't keep up after upgrades and reconfiguration

OK, according to the Victron BMV-712 (w/ a smart shunt) -- hardware that has not changed for at least nine months -- my current battery bank voltage is 12.99, as the clouds and light rain move in removing the last bit of sun from the panels. Over the last 16 days, according to the Victron charge...
