I'd be interested in 4 of those boards. You have resistors in there that mine do not have. Could you add a display screen?
Also... I've found that lvc and hvc can sometimes cause high current (assumption) on ground coming from the bms serial port. I've had three instances where insulation...
Answering questions from above:
Yes, temp spikes that make no real sense have shown up. That on going. Started a couple months ago or more. I contacted overkill about this a weeke ago. No response yet. I attached a screenshot of the recent spikes of temp.
The 5k inverter was installed...
It's a single burner duxtop commercial unit. Little thing. It's staying put. 1800w max.

Did you make those boards?
...looks like Furtrader put up that new repo that's read/write on Jan 10. I haven't looked at it, don't know if the bugs in the original are fixed in the new one
So far, I have not found a combination of settings that stabilizes the jumpiness when both solar and grid are available with the source priority set to both. If I set charge source priority to 'solar first' with the generator running, I can at least get stable positive current to the batteries...
I think I realized what triggered the issue and @HRTKD you might have been trying to communicate this... But I missed it.
I wonder if the bms executing the lvc caused a sudden voltage irregularity from the scc that triggered the BMS's charge protection? At that time, the scc would have had 0...
I considered that early on in the project. The shipping container was chosen because it can house the power and water out of the elements and away from flammable stuff like the suites ...which I call cabins, But are actually large insulated safari tents. There's no place to safely put the...
I have a lightly used Renogy Rover 100a and a basic 3000w 48v inverter for sale. Both have been in service for about 10 months and in great condition. I recently upgraded to split phase and a grid tied system.
Rover $550
Inverter $250
[SOLVED]
not battery related - I assumed it was a battery v spike issue for historical reasons.
it was n-g bond related
details in my inverter review thread: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/sungold-split-phase-6k-hybrid-inverter-scc-review.36334/post-533456
well... shits going crazy on battery 1. I've been watching the data flow and it's throwing almost all the various error conditions and protections.
I'm heading there now to test and maybe swap out the bms. ...I have a new one for a different battery. Here's a screenshot of the latest...
...this seems like a reasonable forum for this post.
I have a few esp32 based devices in my utility container (20' connex).
Three monitor the batteries using serial connection to Overkill bms's.
One monitors water flow and usage and toggles a uv sterilizer.
Right now, the devices are usb...
I haven't had trouble with it reconnecting. But, I have had trouble with their service. It's flaky and will give the appearance that your device isn't online. ...actually, the app shows its offline now. Though all my other devices are
Hey folks,
I have a strange issue with an Overkill (JBD) BMS delaying cell over voltage charge protection longer then it should ( I think ). I cannot explain it ...100%
The set up...
1. I'm working with a 16s 48v overkill bms
2. 100ah cylindrical cell modules from batteryhookup
3. Using the...
Regarding low voltage cut off by inverters.
How do you all deal with inverters that cut off long before your bms(s) will?
My xyz 3000w inverter cuts ac power at about 46.5 input volts. This leaves so much unused capacity in my 48v 200ah battery bank.
I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this. I screwed up one of my Overkill 16s 48v bms's and I need a replacement fast. Overkill is backordered, again. It doesn't have to be Overkill really, it could be any of the tested version of the JBD unit. Does anyone have one for sale or...
Well, I'm dropping this project now that I know what the issue is.
However, I am going to connect my 9000w generator to the system and have it automatically start in the event of a power loss due to lvc and shut off when the inverter restarts. I'll post about that separately.
If anyone can answer these questions, it would be super helpful. ...I'm also doing my own research - as much as I can.
Is the communication issue between the bms and the esp32 due to the uart voltage diff? That is, the esp32 uart is 3.3v and the bms is 5v. All that I read about that...
well, I'm not sure what you mean by that. ....and Guess you could get one with an LTE chip and use it as a wifi hotspot. But, why not just get a hotspot and not spend the time screwing with that part of the system if you don't have to?
I suppose it's a matter opinion then...
That's 4.8v in the pack until bms cutoff at 2.6 (that my setting). Even with the flat discharge curve, I think that's significant
