  • Post in thread: Voltronics hybrid inverter remote control

I have a new Voltronics hybrid 6kw split phase scc/inverter. Mine is from Sungold Power. But, it's the same unit. https://voltronicpower.com/en-US/Product/Detail/InfiniSolar-VII-6KW-(Split-Phase) I found this repo on guthub https://github.com/gch1p/inverter-tools Has anyone in this...
  • Post in thread: Sungold split phase 6k hybrid inverter scc review

You might change the charge source prioriry (program 10) to 'oso' (solar only) . I suspect that's why I got the alarm initially before the generator was connected. That is, it was trying to pull utility when there was none... idk, guessing. When I initially connected the generator and...
  • Post in thread: Cell low voltage cutoff blocks charging ....sometimes??

gotcha - we're on the same page. Do you think that the unbalanced cell is causing the BMS to behave like it is? That is, cutting charge as well when it executes the lvc?
  • Post in thread: Sungold split phase 6k hybrid inverter scc review

Ok.. another update. 1. If the inverter looses power input over night, it will go into standby mode. For example, battery cutoff is reached. If this happens, when generator or pv is available , the batteries will charge but there will be no ac output until the unit it manually restarted...
  • Post in thread: reliable off-grid internet for monitoring - what are you using?

That does seem expensive ..for internet. But, it's a different class of internet and I think it's better than the typical sat stuff. I moved the mofi paddle antennas up high on the sarafi tent's frame it's now getting a "fair" signal ranging from 1-4Mbs download. Good enough to stream...
  • Post in thread: reliable off-grid internet for monitoring - what are you using?

Is there LoRA coverage where you are? I don't know much about it, but it's worth a look. ...maybe
  • Post in thread: Our NEW GO-TO LiFePO4 vendor...09.20.21

Hey folks, My Docan order arrived yesterday and everything looked fine. I've attached some photos. The delivery took a lot longer than I had hoped. But, this was not due to Docan. It's world wide supply chain issues. These cells came from China to the Houston warehouse and then to me...

So far it's been solid. No outages at all since setting up. I do get plenty of packet drop with the repeater 300' away even with the yagi connected to the mofi. But, it doesn't phase the devices at all, they can send the telemetry data over crappy connections since the payload is tiny
  • Post in thread: Anyone working with the Overkill Solar Arduino lib?

That would be great. Which esp32 dev board are you using? I have a firmware version that uses Blynk and a nodered app to roll up data into single values. That's been great for a quick glance at the over all situation. It's made for visitors that know nothing about solar or offgrid. ...so...
  • Post in thread: Sungold split phase 6k hybrid inverter scc review

For For what it's worth, I have it charging from a 4 prong twist lock on the split phase output from the generator and it seems to only be using one of the 120v lines.
  • Post in thread: esp32 automatic inverter restart device

...follow up, my inverter is supposed to automatically restore output power once input is has been restored. However, I'm not sure it's actually doing that.
  • Post in thread: Anyone working with the Overkill Solar Arduino lib?

I emailed chatted with overkill today. Seems pretty simple to create a read-only setup going through some aws tools like sqs, s3, rds and quicksite. Is anyone interested in something like this?
  • Post in thread: PV input after rain

It's starting into the rainy season and it just stopped raining on my 5kw array. It's still partly cloudy. I would expect a low/moderate pv input given the past months data. However, I'm currently seeing charge input of about 2500w. That's a lot more than expected. I'm speculating this...
  • Post in thread: Cell low voltage cutoff blocks charging ....sometimes??

I'll confirm what the low voltage recovery is set at. Though, that doesn't seem like it would cause the inconsistent recovery behavior. I'm working on the balance issue. I had balanced them prior to building the pack - however there was a bad module in the bunch that appears to have caused...
  • Post in thread: Cell low voltage cutoff blocks charging ....sometimes??

I'll do the following Rewire scc, inverter, battery to all use the bus instead of the goofy series connection, as I mentioned above. Once I receive the new bms rebalance all cells build two banks connect both banks on the buses on their own posts test/monitor
  • Post in thread: Anyone working with the Overkill Solar Arduino lib?

Totally. The software running on the esp can be modified, copy/pasted... whatever. But, why do that? Your controller should be handling that and your bms should not allow over charge. Is your bulk charge voltage too high? Do your batteries need to be balanced?
  • Post in thread: Anyone working with the Overkill Solar Arduino lib?

The second set of errors was caused by incorrectly calling another function. Those are resolved and the lib compiles. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to get the serial connection to the bms to work. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I confirmed that I have the port connected on the esp32...
  • Post in thread: Overkill voltage spike on high cell cut off

Issue: when one of my bms cuts charge due to high cell voltage, it causes a voltage spike on the dc battery side of things. I have measured this all the way up to 70v. When this happens, my inverter will fault and cut all power until I go out there and reset it. System: I have three...

going full digression here.... momentarily.... Let's eat grandma Lat's eat, grandma :ROFLMAO:
  • Post in thread: Cell low voltage cutoff blocks charging ....sometimes??

Im 1/2 way through top balancing all 32 modules. Here's a photo of the first one after top balancing and rebuilding it 16s.
  • Post in thread: Anyone working with the Overkill Solar Arduino lib?

I don't have an answer. That part I just copied from the bms.cpp file. Based on the protocol file, what would you suggest I do?
  • Post in thread: reliable off-grid internet for monitoring - what are you using?

uhg, too much work for this particular problem.
  • Post in thread: What is "balance capacity" in JDB BMSs?

The JBD BMSs have value called "balance capacity". This value can be pulled off the device using the Arduino lib. I have three JBD (Overkill) bms's on three batteries and the values I get from them are "45" from both 100ah batteries using 16S 100amp 48v units "120" from the 230ah battery...
  • Post in thread: Anyone working with the Overkill Solar Arduino lib?

forgot to ask, where/how did you make the boards? They look great.
  • Post in thread: reliable off-grid internet for monitoring - what are you using?

I'm looking at the MOFI 5500 and a Visible Wireless sim. Anyone here using that one? Seems to be a really solid mission critical sort of device.
  • Post in thread: What is "balance capacity" in JDB BMSs?

....I just realized what it means. rate capacity * soc% = balance capacity
  • Post in thread: Sungold split phase 6k hybrid inverter scc review

I'm not an electrician and really don't feel comfortable giving more details here. It feels kinda irresponsible. My current set up is... Actual grid connection (no more gene.), battery bank, panels and a single ng bond in the panel at the power pole coming from the grid. After adding the...
  • Post in thread: Anyone working with the Overkill Solar Arduino lib?

[UPDATE] Can't seem to wrap my brain around what's going on with this. Here's what I've done. Completely removed the Overkill lib from the equation Wrote a sketch that requests basic bms info using the command code that the lib uses. I also read over the JBD protocol doc to understand what...
  • Post in thread: Overkill voltage spike on high cell cut off

Yep, it does it without them as well.
  • Post in thread: reliable off-grid internet for monitoring - what are you using?

I ordered the mofi 4500 instead of the 5500 which was way overkill ....where as the 4500 is minor overkill. Also set up a Visible wireless account with two months for $22 ($40 afterward). I'll update after I get it all set up
