Yes the AC in to the EG4 so power will pass thru once power is restored.
Since we were talking about grounding would it (the cart system) not be grounded this way?
That is my mindset on this also. I questioned this a couple different ways to understand what was being said and did not get a solid response that made sense to me though I’m no expert. So, I said let’s get a ticket started and will work thru the process. It was the support line and not the...
I see what you have there and that looks like an option too.
It would lack the adjustability and also maybe too close to the max input of my AIO, but that form factor has promise if a unit with maybe 300-400 max as the save limit.
Thanks, will look more into it.
I plan to build the 48v cart setup soon. If I plan to setup just as mentioned in the video and power a refrigerator, TV, modem/Wi-Fi, and maybe a lamp during power outages which usually don't last longer than a day or two, will this not be safe?
Why would this need to be grounded if none of...
Update:
Had another member report in another post, that they had the same “exact” issue as mine and their unit was returned and refunded after purchase of another. They (SS/EG4) were unable to diagnose the issue before it was returned and did not get a reason for the failure after it was...
From what I read here in another post, if it is at least plugged into the wall (AC in) you are using the ground already provided by your house, but if not grid tied (or panel) in some way then providing a ground for the stand only system would protect you.
Also if your solar panels are grounded...
Update:
That last email must have been enough to show nothing was burned up or roasted. I was contacted by the RS department (resolution department) and will be getting a RMA to send the AIO back and they will send a replacement. They said the replacement will be sent after the bad unit is...
I will be doing the same (UPS) with it setup on a cart to start, but I also got the renogy rover boost mppt to use my 2x130 watt folding solar panels in series as a backup charger when power is out. Will also test charging with my inverter generator (2500 watt) too.
Looks like you may be...
Thank you, and yes everything is moving along smoothly (received it today). I know the holidays will slow things down, since I work in manufacturing quality for a large automotive O.E. component supplier for over 25+ years.
Correct, but I think with them (lead,AGM) I would not have anything (communication cable) connected to the AIO.
I think that since I had the cable connected and the unit was sending a signal (maybe) to the AIO that it was not sure what to do because it was in USE mode but also receiving BMS...
I will have to wait on the EG4 3k and EG4 standard battery 48v till probably after New Year. Battery on back order.
Anyone have issues with the refurb stuff?
Or should I go this route Growatt 24v 3K with Refurb EG4- 24v battery?
Which is a better cart setup for backup during power outages...
I have the RS485 communication cable connected by default but would want some feedback on the difference's others have seen between "USE" and the "LI 4" in program mode 05.
Who here is using the LI 4 setting (program 05), cable, and are you happy with the setup? Issues?
When in "USE" mode will...
So, the feeling is the difference is just the preference of equipment?
Does someone have experience with 24v comparison to 48v functionality or even Growatt to EG4 AIOs.
It does seem like it would be easier currently to buy 24v batteries as compared to 48v price being about the same.
This may be common knowledge but if I was to have the EG4-3k cart setup plugged into the house wall outlet while the power is out and it running a refrigerator plugged into the power strip, the system is technically grounded thru the house outlet for AC charging cord and if the power comes back...
Has anyone had good or bad experience with the refurbished equipment from SS? The batteries I’m sure are fine since they sell out so quick but the AIO unit I’m on the fence about. How bad could the physical damage be?
Could I technically connect this to the wall outlet (or even a generator) to the solar input of the AIO set to say 130 DC to turn on the MPPT input?
Not necessarily this exact unit but similar.
This maybe a use of this setup for when the AIO is hard wired to a box for a couple important...
I just looked at the site and I do not see how the Delta 2 is under $499.00. Is that quote in freedom dollars or something else.
The unit is on sale currently for $699 and with the extra battery is total $1599...
Thank you,
I have shared my info to date in the AIO folder and currently received an email from your RS representative and waiting on another email with an RMA to send the unit back to be replaced.
Will update my experience in that posting.
No one seems to have had the same issue I seen and...
The flashing “P” is for single phase-parallel set-up (two units working together but single phase).
Change setting 28 from PAL to SIG for single phase operation. (One unit working independently).
I don’t think it changes anything else and will run either way since the “needed hardware support”...
Just read your post after sending the one before this one.
You had the same instant dead screen and function?
When everything turned back on it not seeing the battery and screen cycles full screen, (beep) 6P fault code, blank screen repeat?
Did they say what failed on your return unit...
I was trying to get the WiFi to work and the unit was on and connected to the one 48v lifepower4 battery and it had no load or anything plugged in on AC in or out and PV not connected. It just shut completely down and smelled a little heat from it. I shut it off and the battery reset everything...
Setup the new (cart) EG4-3k and Lifepower4 battery in USE (and 05 in utility) mode and everything else as recommended by EG4.
Waiting on panels.
One thing I did and did not think made a difference was the communication cable for the battery is connected but is not needed.
I still had it hooked...
Ok, same here, a couple pics and an Ohms test to get it replaced, maybe becoming a know issue.
Mine was a new unit too, so not sure if new or refurbished is better or not since it looks like a component failure maybe the problem. They had no refurbished units when I was ordering, so may get...
I have had one unit returned and was replaced and both came that way from the manufacture, so must be the default setting. I saw the same thing in Will's video on the review of the AIO unit and his was blinking "P" too.
Hello Jess,
I received the communication cable a couple days ago and it does not look like the one shown on the website. It is two piece and one half is blue. Did they redesign or get another manufacturer to make them?
Hmmm.
Will read more on this. Thanks.
Can you describe what you mean by "Heavy Ripple"? you referring to the sine wave or voltage ripple as in not consistent and modulates up and down some or will it ripple my skin if mishandled... LOL
