well it seems to work much better when you configure it properly. My settings are now being respected and i'm back to fine tuning. The lesson here is to check with the manufacturer before consulting You Tube...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

After quite some time, I've finally gotten the controller stabilized at the settings i wanted. Using a narrow range of boost, float and boost recon voltage settings and a short boost duration, this configuration boosts from initiation in the morning until 53.78v. It spends 10 minutes there then...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

I had a hot, sunny morning and into mid-afternoon. I boost charged at 45-50 amps from 11a to about 2P, then switched to float. Around 2:30p, some clouds rolled through, creating a variable input while in float. It took about 20 minutes of high variability to hit boost recon. Once in boost, it...
  • Post in thread: 48v battery to power 24v bus

i upgraded from 24v lead acid to 48v lifepo4. I couldn't just dump the lead acids and had two small 24v inverters so i got a 15a 48v to 24v buck converter and set my system up to charge the 24v lead acid bank from the 48v lifepo4 bank, then ran my 24v inverters from that. Super cool as the 48v...

I can't say for sure as who knows what their delineation between low and high current is. I would think 60 amps would be high. but my chinglish isn't fluent. JMH1783 and I both run constant loads and I have just connected up my full size frig yesterday after extensive testing, (so far, so good)...
  • Post in thread: Question about MPP Solar and Float Voltage - not necessarily MPP Solar specific

Csimmer: The problem with that configuration is that there is no absorption at bulk voltage. As soon as you hit the max voltage, the BMS will disconnect and the voltage will drop back to something less than the bulk voltage. As soon as the voltage drops, the BMS restores charge and it will run...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

Honestly, I only used the controller screen on the initial hookup to confirm I had battery power flowing to it. My next step was to connect the MT50 and use that for about an hour when I ordered the usb cable. Installed that the day I got it and have been in the software ever since. Yes, boost...
  • Post in thread: Beginner home backup

I did this for a customer. 30kW battery, 8kW Growatt inverter. Cost $10k installed. It provides in excess of 24 hours full backup power for her whole house. Grid and generator fed.
  • Post in thread: Growatt 8k low voltage alarm recovery

My 8000T begins beeping twice per second when the battery falls below the 49v setting. Once it rises above 49v, the beeping doesn't stop. How do I reset that so it stops beeping? I've power cycled the PV, inverter and cut all battery power once it rises above 49v, but the beeping persists.
  • Post in thread: Smallest 48v BMS?

System already exists, but without a bms. I’ve been manually balancing quarterly but would like an automated option. I use a TP-Din Sc48-20 from tycon systems. https://www.tyconsystems.com/tpdin-sc48-20v2+
  • Post in thread: Any issues maxing out an Epever Tracer BN?

I have 2-350w panels in series, 2-190w panels in series and 4-445w panels in 2 series sets. Total wattage is 2,860, just below the 3,000w max at 48v. I still have a pair of 190w panels that i havent added yet. I also have a 50a circuit breaker on the array just before the 60a fuse in the...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

Ahh... I'm letting it ride for now. I need to understand what decisions are being made by the controller and as long as it isn't risking overcharge, I can't see a danger. BTW, What device/software generated that graph for you? My controller only graphs 30 minutes of generation even though there...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

fafrd, After submitting a pic of the asset tag for my Tracer 6415AN, Epever support responded: "Hi Jeff, Unfortunately, the version of your controller does not support lithium battery. It lacks a part control circuit and some protections. But this isn't mean that you cannot use it on the...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

Just double checked with the MT50. I did set it to 48v after i cleared the overvolt warning when i switched from the 24v battery. Additionally, the MT50 shows all the settings i programmed in the software. Just to be sure, i set and saved 48v in the MT50. No apparent change in status tho. More...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

I contacted epever tech support by email and they responded in a couple hours. They attached several relevant documents which i reviewed. Based on their advice and documentation, i reconfigured my controller. I think what happened was that i used the sealed/gel/flooded control parameter screen...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

mid-morning update: Hit 54.8v (boost voltage)around 10:45a. If old settings are applied, it will be 60 minutes to float. If current settings are applied, 120 minutes to float. At heavy charge, there is a 1.3v difference between controller voltage and balancer voltage so that has to be taken into...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

yes, that's how i've been doing it. i would guess your boost duration is 120 minutes. i think the "reboot" starts the duration timer over again. i've decreased mine to 10 so that wouldn't happen. I've seen that behavior as well. I'm pretty convinced that the default lithium cell count of 12S for...
  • Post in thread: How to set up my EPEVER Tracer-AN MPPT Tracer5415AN, 50A 12/24/36/48VDC,

    Hi sampler. I have a very similar system. 2S4P, 2,860w solar array, EpEver 6415AN and 16 Lishen 272AH Lifepo4 cells in 16S1P, 48v configuration. I also have three simple inverters, a 3,000w, 48v, a 1,500w, 24v and a 500w, 24v feeding several different circuits. I've attached my current settings...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

another day... Hit float by 10a and still using the 5 day old configuration. By 1p, i couldn't stand it any longer. All this great sun being throttled by float... Shut down the panels, then shut down the battery bank. Waited a moment, then fired it all back up. Now... not sure if a new boost...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

The spreadsheet on the left mirrors the settings on the right. On the rare occasions that I've seen a response based on the charge limit setting, the controller briefly interrupts the charge voltage and amperage, then after a moment, voltage resumes and amperage ramps back up. I've seen no state...
  • Post in thread: Epever Tracer AN high-current won’t support LiFePO4???

Not quite. EpEver told me lithium is not supported but can be used "at your own risk" I have extensive discussion now under "Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings" in this same forum, including some of the documents they sent me on recommended lifepo4 configurations
  • Post in thread: Question about MPP Solar and Float Voltage - not necessarily MPP Solar specific

I'm still tweaking my settings. Currently reducing my boost voltage from 54v to 53.7v, and increasing the boost duration from 10 minutes to 30 to add more CC before floating without running the voltage up so high. Can't go too far or I won't get back to float during a cloudy period. I've been...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

whew... what an afternoon. I must have cycled the panels 20 times to keep things from running away. I did keep it in check and managed to partially top balance along the way. Not sure why, but the system finally dropped into float and is still in float now. Perhaps it will actually work properly...
  • Post in thread: Does a charger *really* have three stages?

constant voltage, constant current, direct voltage/current or mediated voltage/current. Electrical engineers... These are actually the only possibilities, right? Constant voltage refers to a consistently fed voltage, constant current is when the voltage matches and the saturation (absorption)...
  • Post in thread: Struggling with basic LiFePO4 settings in Epever Tracer

That's almost certainly the problem. Disconnect the cells completely, then reconnect the cells in parallel. Add the power supply to the paralleled group of cells and allow the cells to charge up to 3.6v or so. If your power supply can do constant voltage, constant current, let them saturate...
  • Post in thread: Wire size for a Tracer 4215BN

If it takes #6 max, use #6; future-proofing. For those lengths, the difference in cost is minimal, but the benefit is in less resistance and line loss, and ease of adding more solar without having to rewire. I just completed adding 2kw of panels and upgraded 40' from #6 to #4 to minimize...
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

Equalization duration is set to 0 and the EQ voltage is set by the controller to the same as boost voltage
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

all day yesterday the controller stayed in EQ mode. It charged normally though and seemed to experience a normal cycle. This morning, as soon as the controller began sensing input voltage, it started in EQ mode. Very strange status display with otherwise completely normal charge behavior.
  • Post in thread: Epever 6415AN doesn't respect my settings

So it would appear that configuration changes need an overnight to take hold. I've made incremental changes in my settings day after day. They don't fire on the day I make them, but seem to kick in the following day. Odd, but workable when you know. Spent the weekend upgrading my solar panels...
