  • Post in thread: Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

Actual Steve, yes I did and I opened the unit up to have a better clue about the grounding / neutral issue. Funny enough there is already a diode (D21) inside the chargery that links the external power supply ground to the pin 1, maybe not enough to run three amps for the relays but it is...
  • Post in thread: Recommendations on Ground Source Heat Pump with soft start?

Nice project, not sure I would try that in that environment but.. We are in Pa, completely different animal and we use a sanden CO2 air to water heatpump , normally for domestic hot water but we use it for our radiant heating... 3/4 pex under two layers of hardwood floor. We have a 52 x36 shop...
  • Post in thread: Safe Grid Use of the 5000ES and transformer

This whole thread reminds me of covid ivermectin and the jab. I am glad that we still are still allowed to buy a non ul certified inverter. Half of the medicines I can get only in Mexico.
  • Post in thread: repair tracer epever 1210RN MPPT

This is the board. I found that the other unit I had started working again after disconnect / connect... Processor restart? This one is shot..blown fuse and two aot148 shorted. I unsoldered the two diodes..they seem good. Any advice on better mosfets then the aot148?
  • Post in thread: Inverter Hell

I would think that there is no technical reason a HF inverter would have lower surge capacity the a LF transformer based inverter. In the transformer based inverter the surge is stored in the magnetic core. It is pretty inefficient to store enrgy in a magnetic field so the larger standby losses...
  • Post in thread: repair tracer epever 1210RN MPPT

So I kind of forgot to follow up.. yes the parts did the trick and the charge controller is working again. I did some experimenting to use these as lifephosphate. See my new thread. Tracer 1210 voltage modification for lithium. Johan
  • Post in thread: Tracer 1210rn voltage modification for lithium phosphate.

In my converted city bus we have a 24 Volt system.. there are 4 identical groups of solar panels each with there own tracer / epever / 1210rn. 10 Amp mppt control with a mt5 remote readout. I like the redundancy of several charge controllers and indeed we had one unit damaged several years...
  • Post in thread: Accuracy of Overkill BMS SOC

I am very curious about the voltage accuracy of the JBD bms. anybody compared the cell voltages with a good dvm? Preferably a 48V system Thank you. Johan
  • Post in thread: Recommendations on Ground Source Heat Pump with soft start?

Slinky has more surface area per cubic yard of soil.. so if it sucks more heat out of the soil then can be replenished it will freeze up.. that is why I mean with experts.. I am sure they had a whole bunch of experts that did not see that coming... But alas, we learn from other people's...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Hell

Yes a high quality industrial inverter like schneider ( $$$) will do that but there is no reason that all LF inverter have that overbuild capacity in the PWM part of the components. I have used and use several LF inverters, Outback 3648, Dimension 2500,.... these are no $$ comparisation to a...
  • Post in thread: 10.6KW bifacial off grid ground array powering multiple locations 500 feet away

Ok, I am catching up together with your heat pump in your other thread,. Why not get multiple micro gridtie inverters and run 240vac for the long runs to your house...redundancy . then have a battery bank with quality inverter generate a local grid that complies with the requirements of the...
  • Post in thread: single 400 watt panel on rv? (help)

I have met people that lost larger 300 watt solar panels because of windgust while driving.. glass got sucked out of the frame . Some people have put deflectors up to prevent wind getting under the panels.... That of course is not great for cooling.. personally I would not go larger then 250...
  • Post in thread: Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

I just got a chargery BMS 16T and see the same problems with cell 10 and 16. 10 reads 29 mV high and 16 read 58 mV low. That is with Balancing turned off. In actual the cells are balanced within 1 mV. The chargery did this over two weeks without charge or discharge cycles. The unit felt...
  • Post in thread: 10.6KW bifacial off grid ground array powering multiple locations 500 feet away

Micro grid tie does work fine when you create your own stable grid with an inverter. There are some complications but research here at diy solar and or outback solar forum and you will find the answer.. Essential the complication arises when the micro grid solar inverters put more power out...
  • Post in thread: Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

Maybe Bob. If a software issue can cause 58mVolt difference on one cell then there is a big problem. Besides putting the thing together I have spent now about 6 hours on researching / reading and measuring., getting tired of it If Jason would have told me that it was a software issue and a known...
  • Post in thread: 10.6KW bifacial off grid ground array powering multiple locations 500 feet away

Yes I understand but I do not see the advantage, you need a structure, it needs heat for your battery, if a breaker goes off you have to walk all the way out there. But that is all for you to consider.
  • Post in thread: Stainless case with heating for 12 volt at 270Ah

Here some pics of a small scale project..I need to be able to heat these as it is going to be under my bus.
  • Post in thread: repair tracer epever 1210RN MPPT

Thank you, ordered the parts. Will see if it works again. Did some digging on the board.. All 5 mosfets are the same. One ( Q11) is used to turn the external load on / off. Two seems to be used as switches for the battery and solar input. The other two , Q3 an Q4 are used in a synchronous...
  • Post in thread: 24 volt 280ah compressed..isolated studs...fire

Please comment on this proposed build. After reading thru some of the fire / burn threads I changed my design to incorporate space between the battery that can be flooded with water in case of an emergency. The frame is welded from bed frame angle iron. 3/8" wood in the bottom and 1/16" pvc...
  • Post in thread: Corrosion hole in lishen casing

With kuranaga's comments in mind, I did some more test with aluminum foil in the same liquid that these batteries were exposed to...left it in / on there for two weeks ...and nothing happened. Aluminum foil became less shiny and dirty looking.. no holes ..still foil. So I do not think that the...
  • Post in thread: Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

The first 8 cells work well for me also. to be honest.. if the software update would make 58 mV disappear then I would fee cheated unless there is a revision comment that the 4.00 software had a bug with cell 16. I will keep following chargery and see if the future comes out less troublesome.
  • Post in thread: 24 volt 280ah compressed..isolated studs...fire

In this picture you can see the battery cage and the rubber separators. The set of 8 is in there right. So any swelling can I lay take the the concave part out of the cells. I am surprised that not more people are using flexible connections.. it seems to be bad practice to put stress on battery...
  • Post in thread: repair tracer epever 1210RN MPPT

Thank you, will study this a little more. This "simple" unit has five mosfets , no doubt one as a switch for the external load. Still four that are not in parallel. Not sure about the schematic. Maybe they used two as diode to reduce losses / improve efficiency ? I will see if I can trace out...
  • Post in thread: Diy ev with leaf cells got overcharged.

The bms used is the original bms from the Nissan leaf.. the charger is set for constant current of 5 amp and a shutoff voltage at 4.0 volt / cell. The cells are normally matched very very well. The bms was more used with the leaf spy software to see individual voltage differences and also...
  • Post in thread: Using a modified split-port BMS to drive bistable relays?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/254647610560 Yeah, well removing the shunt is better but since you were talking about recalibrating the bms I figured you had not thought about changing the shunt. And it your response you mentioned that you needed to use a large current bms in case you could not...
  • Post in thread: repair tracer epever 1210RN MPPT

Evening folks, requesting some help here. After working for several years one of my Tracer 1210RN has quit working. The solar system consists of 4x 75 watt BP/ siemens panels 2 series 2 parallel. Panels are 20 years old and deliver about 50 watts max. Battery voltage 24 Volt 2x 8D lead acid in...
  • Post in thread: Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

I will have to try, I assume it should since that power comes thru the measurement wires.. Since it has a switch mode power supply 1 amp at 12 volt is 250mAmp at 48 volt. I am using opto DC SSRs but if you would use 2 x 3 Amp coil relays it would add up pretty quick thru those small wires /...

  • Post in thread: Connecting 20 wind turbines in series ?!

Why not take small 3 phase transformers and bring the voltage up to 240 volt 3 phase or higher if you dare.. then rectify each of them at the windmill or in the house .. now you can parallel them at high voltage DC . Use mppt if you feel it is efficient.. Or rewind the windmills for higher...
