  • Post in thread: Balcony solar 200W, grid-tied

I would like to share with you my balcony solar installation after 1 month of use. It shows that solar is potentially feasible in cities or rented homes If placed on balconies and it is fairly simple. Material: - 2x100W flexible solar panels (16V, 32 cells) - 600W MPPT grid-tied inverter...
  • Post in thread: Where is your inverter installed?

Mine is in the bedroom. During the evening its noiseless and I covered its lights with paper. Also, If it explodes and destroys the house, I will probably die saving myself the burden of all repairs and payments.
  • Post in thread: SHOW ME YOUR MEGAWATTS!

My 200W solar array passed the 0,13MWh in almost a year.

  • Post in thread: Surrender to the AA power - AA battery pack 10S11P (27Ah max.) with 50W solar

Greetings solar enthusiasts, I wanted to show something I built half year ago and which I felt shy to show given its rarity and to some extend, lack of sense. Surrender to the AA powerwall!!! A set of 10S 11P NiMh 1,2V cells with a total of almost 27Ah capacity able to supply (as experienced...
  • Post in thread: Free Energy Generators

I have an e-motor with a flywheel of 50cm attached to a e-motor with a flywheel of 5 cm. When the first e-motor rotates, the difference in diameter multiplies the energy 50/5 = 10 times. The rotation of the smaller diameter motor receives 10 times the energy consumed by the other e-motor; after...
  • Post in thread: Based in Groningen, The Netherlands

God bless The Netherlands en zijn vrijheid! Leuk te horen. Volgende maand weet ik of het lukt; dan kan ik hier wat posten.
  • Post in thread: if a 48V battery can be lethal, how about a 40V panel?

The fatter you are, the lower the risk to die from solar panel electrocution. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0260877407006280#:~:text=Conductivity%20measurements%20of%20meat%20cuts,fat%20content%20of%20lean%20muscle.
  • Post in thread: Get ready for the Price increase

Must be that chickens got stressed with all this covid apocalyptic media and the egg yields have gone down.
  • Post in thread: Cheapest solar setup to heat desperate pensioners for 6 hours a day at 37w?

In another direction but may help a bit. Cheap insulation; putting tape on the junctions of the window frame to avoid air getting in. Closing doors to difficult air flow in the house. Putting towels under de doors, specially the ones facing the exterior. I once calculated If using candles would...
  • Post in thread: Solar Energy Windows in the Future?

There are a few matters related to these comments worth mentioning. > Power factor of solar is standardly known as 3, but some scientists claim it could be very close to 1 when not used optimally. Power factor is the energy you harvest from the panel divided by the energy you put it to create...
  • Post in thread: Solar panels and weather variation

My situation is a good example of your question: My 200W South-East oriented array starts receiving sun around midday. In sunny days this means I do not produce a single watt until 1PM. This is partly due to my inverter that requires 10W to inject power to the grid. In cloudy days I however...
  • Post in thread: Different grid-tied inverters in one grid possible?

Answering a bit your comments. First, I do have an agreement with my energy supplier to export electricity so doing that is not a problem. Second, risks of using cheap Aliexpress grid-tied inverters (even individually) is probably there. They have certifications, either one or both claim to...
  • Post in thread: Sorry, will not be worse than plastics...

My opinion on all this is very pessimistic although I am happily surprised to see that silver is theoretically being recovered already. Great, because a panel it is said to have up to 3% of silver in weight. Why pessimistic? 1) At this moment, limited financial incentive for recycling the...
  • Post in thread: Daly BMS Will Not Balance

Thank you very much for your extended and carefully written answer. It gives me huge peace of mind honestly; having a battery with unusable capacity would kill me, but that is not the case. Actually new things happened. I have charged the 4S LifePo4 12V 60Ah battery with 2A charger for 24h...
  • Post in thread: 24 volt with only 4S 12v batteries?

Agree. Actually, If you just need USB loads, you can simply connect a chip from aliexpress that transforms 12V DC into 5V DC. See example...
  • Post in thread: EB3A "Overload" When Used as Uninterruptible Power Supply

Do any of you have issues to connect to the power station? I have to click like 5 times to connect to the Bluetooth and sometimes it won't connect. Also I just received one and with the new app I can not update to the newest Firmware. I understood current firmware is version 57 or so and I still...
  • Post in thread: Balcony Solar Setup

This is the post I made back at the beginning of this array construction. https://diysolarforum.com/threads/balcony-solar-200w-grid-tied.36842/#post-620876 It is 2 panels + a current measurement unit with batteries for monitoring at any desired time and the inverter which is not connected to my...
  • Post in thread: Balcony mount on railings for 100W flexible panel

Yes, this is in the Netherlands and tonight we are having winds of up to 110Km/h, so the installation full test is about to happen.
  • Post in thread: Limiting solar voltage to 60V at 500W

You may use a step-down module. In Aliexpress there many. Step-down module is a very easy way to supply a current at a voltage no higher than the supplied. The nominal power of the module will limit the current or you may purchase one with current regulation for some extra dollars...
  • Post in thread: Based in Groningen, The Netherlands

Hallo mensen. Na het melden van mijn installatie bij energieleveren.nl, is deze na de eerste Kwh bij mijn leverancier zichtbaar. Ik zie nu hoeveel ik terugleveert. Best makkelijk en direct. Mooi!
  • Post in thread: Based in Groningen, The Netherlands

Thanks rin for the comment! With the first model I have built (20Ah 18650 battery) I can already see what you mention. Fully charging takes ages while discharging at 50W happens in a couple hours. I do it for the fun also, so that part is well fulfilled.
  • Post in thread: Balcony mount on railings for 100W flexible panel

Thank you. I will start by adding some extra zip ties and look into some robust cord or else. Next week comes trial 2; 130km/h wind gusts. And then the week after apocalypse and the whole world blown away. Bit burnt out from this weather already.
  • Post in thread: How effective are your panels?

Adding to this, from conversations I had or seen in this forum with people that got a peak power over the rated power. The sun sends us 1350 W/m2, after the atmosphere at sea level we get around 950 W/m2. Another altitude, light reflection of neighboring clouds, objects,... can thus result in...
  • Post in thread: Off-Grid Hybrid

A bit off-topic but, I have a decent life with 40kWh per month in spring/summer months when no heating is required (I have no airco/nor EV). That is for me, one person; 1,35kWh per day in a 85m2 apartment. When I see your consumption levels, I think perhaps there could be some room for...
  • Post in thread: Electric dryer power reduction ???

I think a heat pump based dryer will benefit from a lower wattage. When heat flow becomes lower due to lower power supply, the temperature gap from the heat pump becomes smaller and its COP increases (amount of heat transferred per unit of power). Longer drying time means also more time for heat...
  • Post in thread: Topsolar Brand flexible solar panels?

Thanks for your input. Did you make a "show and tell" post of your installation? It is one of my main interests at this moment seeing that I have a similar installation on my balcony. The flexible panels I bought from Ali were expected to do much less than stated. From 200W I can get 100W in...
  • Post in thread: Need to know if this could work as a wind turbine?

As kind of mentioned above; this looks like a propeller for a centrifugal blower. In the factory I work these are used at rotation speeds of >2.000rpm while eolic turbines operate at around 20rpm. Your propeller can probably rotate faster than a giant eolic turbine but even If you get it up to...
  • Post in thread: Is my Renogy Lifepo4 battery faulty?

I have tested the battery tonight. I have measured the no-load voltage with a multimeter and it was still 13,2-13,3V. Then I have connected a Phoenix inverter 12/500 and turned it on, the voltage was still 13,3V. Then I have connected a 100W load to the inverter and the battery has woken up...
