It doesn't support the 6000xp inverter without using the very insecure wifi adapter, so I will use it as soon as they have an RS485 solution for monitoring :). Always broadcasting an unsecured wifi endpoint that anyone can connect and modify settings is a no-go for me!

Isn't one of the SA solutions to put an ethernet splitter in the line and then you can listen to the traffic as it passes through. Might be a way to get the data.

You can use the EG4 app with the dongle, but the wireless dongle is very insecure. It broadcasts an open network that anyone can join. The wired dongle doesn't allow local connect. So basically a security-oriented approach is kind of up a creek right now.

Nope. I beat my head over this one. It won't. And it is because SA uses LocalConnect (port 8899) to get the data. That port is NOT opened on the wired ethernet dongle.

It may be a DIP switch issue. I couldn't get my batteries to report when I had them in perfect DIP sequence (1,2,3,4)... I had to skip 4.. so my DIPs are at 1,2,3,5! I have no idea why. But if I set the last DIP to 4, it stops reporting. I have two LL-S and two LP4. Here are my settings...

It does not appear SolarAssistant works with the EG4 6000XP inverter and EG4 batteries an truly offline manner. Has anyone successfully got this inverter communicating with SA *without network*? I saw something in the manual about a meter1/2 (page 25) but every wire pair I tried would not...

The downloads at EG4's website for this battery have the firmware zip file and that zip contains the instructions. I followed them and was able to update both my batteries.

The WLAN (hardwired) dongle does not support LocalConnect, which means SA does not work with it. I think SA is adding a item to their backlog to seek alternate ways of connecting, given that the Wifi approach is kind of a "debug" mode. For now, no SA for me until that is done.

Have you been able to get these batteries installed and talking to SA with your other LP4s?

So the wireless dongle has port 8899 open for local connect and (other) monitoring, but the *wired* dongle does NOT. EG4 folks (@EG4_Jarrett or @Markus_EG4) can this be enabled remotely or via a firmware update?

What software/monitoring are you using to catch this? Interested in setting it up myself.

Confirmed with Marcus that the WLAN adapter does NOT support Local connect and thus cannot retrieve data via the dongle (ie, push to cloud only).

Ok, I finally had the time to get set up and try the above recommendations. Alas, results are still not successful. I tried a cable with pins 1&2 and a cable with Pins 7&8 and went through all the SA battery options. I tried on both the RS485 port of the first battery and the second comm port...

Resolved. Turned out I had changed the top battery setting from CAN to RS485 and the communication with the inverter was incorrect.

Now for the next question. How does one get Solar Assistant to work with the EG4 LL-S batteries while keeping them connected to the inverter? The LL-S has two ethernet plugs above the battery terminal (and two below); currently the CAN port goes to the inverter. When I plug the RS485 one into...
