Problem: Both the EG4 6000XP and 18Kpv wireless dongles are highly insecure, broadcasting an unsecured network and Bluetooth open connections. For connection to Home or Software Assistant, this dongle relies on a special "debug" mechanism on port 8899 to retrieve data, which are not open for the...
From what I'm seeing, that's a solid NO--quite the opposite, the most insecure possible.
Well that's terrible. For half a second I had a tiny bit of hope I could use the dongle. But SA is working on the RS485 for it and I can pull data off it via my 'home grown' solution.
Hi @Markus_EG4 , I attempted several connections with the wired dongle with no success. When I did a port scan on the device, *nothing* is open (unlike the wireless dongle). Does it happen to need something open to enable this feature? Thanks!
Happy to PM my serial if you want to take a look.
Tank prices have more than doubled here in TX too. I was going to put a 1k gal tank in, but ended up with a 500 because just the 500 gal was $3400. Two years ago the 1k gal was under $2k.
Seems odd. The LL batteries (if they have 6 dips) should be at setting 1; if there are 4 dips, it should be at setting "0".
Have you tried the CAN vs RS485 setting? I have the LL-S and I had to switch mine to use CAN. First, set the dips to "64" and then restart battery. Then hold down the...
@EG4_Jarrett or @EG4-Jacob
I also just tried using the wifi dongle and either received "set failed" (via localconnect) or "No permission) using the web page.
I want to factory reset my inverter, and I'd like to ideally do it without any internet connection (no wifi dongle), but if the dongle...
I couldn't find the *inverter* RS485 connection anywhere else (there is a port for the *battery* CAN/RS485 but I am using that for my batteries). The manual didn't specify where it was aside from that it is "shared" with the wifi connection on two of the pins. Chances are I missed it though. If...
My ethernet adapter arrived for the 6000xp... connected it and configured SA per the instructions... and... nothing. It doesn't find the device on the wired network, even though the inverter is connected and both are on the same (wired) network. This is using the latest version of SA...
I might have been foolish, but I just replaced the Cyberpower lead acid batteries with equivalent LiFePO4 batteries. From what I read, you might not get accurate readings of power remaining/discharge time, but since it spends most of the time at full power, the feedback was it wouldn't hurt the...
What is the RS232 port? My first two batteries are the LL-S and they have 4 total ethernet ports (see page 6 of manual), in the following order (connections are for the first battery):
CAN --> To Inverter
RS485
Battery-Comm
Battery-Comm --> To next battery
Should I plug the 'pi' into the 3rd...
I'll add that the wifi dongle is TERRIBLE for security. It continually broadcasts an open network that anyone can join and change the inverter settings. Personally, I do not use the dongle at all!
So my wifi is entirely disconnected... the security on it is atrocious. It broadcasts an unsecure wifi network that anyone can join. So I connect to the black and white wires for the RS485. I'm not sure how you would 'share' it.
My LL-S units were fine, but the inverter screen was scratched (brand new 6000xp). I thought it was the plastic film cover, but when I removed it, the scratches were still there :(.
Yes, I noticed that, but it doesn't allow me to change it.
And my router is configured with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. So I don't know why it is doing this. Seems like a bug in their software.
I'm a bit puzzled on how I can force SA to change it. IPconfig on my laptop shows the...
Do you split your 'connection' so that the inverter is connected to battery #1 as well? I still want my inverter to be aware of SOC.
I currently have my master battery connected on the CAN port to the inverter. Then the batteries below it are connected via the ethernet comm cables that shipped...
Well, since no reply, I took the brute force approach... I send a modbus command to holding register 11 with bytes { 255,255 } and reset my system.
Doesn't appear the factory reset works with the web app or the local connect approach. But the above did.
Yes. And let it go overnight, but with no success.
My best guess, though I don't understand why, is that there is something different in the network interaction in wired vs unwired adapter. I noticed wireless network entry had a funny name; wired had no name. Example, wireless on the router...
Two questions for the EG4 folks (@EG4_Jarrett or @Markus_EG4 ):
1) Is it possible to "local connect" via the app to the inverter using the *wired* dongle?
2) Could you PM (or place here) a link to the "api" documentation for this inverter? It is on a wired network and I have its IP address...
Remember that the interface is shared -- the RS485 is shared between them. So you could end up running into yourself if you have both the eternet/wifi dongle and the RS485 interface plugged in, especially since SA is frequently querying (both query at the same time). That's really not the best...
Has anyone been successful setting up SA without allowing the 6000XP access to the internet *at all*? SA replied to my email and said I had to ensure it communicated with EG4's servers first, which seemed a bit weird. But maybe it needs to be "initialized" for communication before it can go...
Yeah, they seem to want to be either/or. I have the same problem with mine. I don't want the communication with my inverter-battery to stop, so I don't get battery data directly :(
