  • Post in thread: Changes are coming to the Solar Industry

Not long ago, Briggs and Stratton filed for bankruptcy and I'm not sure who owns them now. Corporations own corporations, own corporations ... Solar energy was never truly about a healthier planet, it's about $money$.
  • Post in thread: New 10kw NHX AIO From Watts247

I like to repurpose things. The two 6panel pole mounts in the background were made from visiting the local scrap yard. The poles are ~6" ~1/4" thick aluminum from what looked to be some kind of very large dismantled electrical distribution system. The swivel mounts were made from a scrap...

I said my dumb ### was NOT going it alone ... 3/4" plywood with 1/4" backerboard, compressed fibre cement board, overlay. The backerboard makes for a decent fire retardant. That's an spf6k on the right. Looks small compared to the nhx, while the Growatt sc48120 looks absolutely tiny.

I purchased 32of the Eve lf304 grade 'B' prismatic cells and this was my experience. x x
  • Post in thread: Do we still need T-Class Fuses?

As I always like to tell my riding buddies, dress for the fall, not the ride.
  • Post in thread: Midnite Solar Announced their new 10kw AIO at Intersolar Today

Apologies for the derailment. Back on topic. For what it's worth, this new crop of grid interactive AIOs are very appealing, especially because 1) there's a bit of spending money in the cookie jar, 2) it's past time to upgrade to a grid interactive unit, 3) and a larger unit that is...
  • Post in thread: RayfromTx video "Reduce the Risk When Buying Lifepo4 From Alibaba!" is misleading

    Hello Kolek.
  • Post in thread: Midnite Solar Announced their new 10kw AIO at Intersolar Today

IMO, that does seem to be a thing with MidNite, they announce something, keep us waiting till they work out all the bugs, then release it into the wild. Very unlike the current SxgSxxxr sales model where we are the beta testers.
  • Post in thread: Who is still building DIY batteries

Yep, if more people knew what they threatened to do to Ray Builds Cool Stuff, bet a lot of people would shop elsewhere.
  • Post in thread: When Not To Let Your AIO Communicate With The Batteries

A conundrum was brought forth when I asked the forum what might cause a Growatt spfxxxxt to fail starting pv production in the early morning sun. One of several replies; @Zwy posted it could be a possible issue with bulk/float settings, which in a roundabout way, brought us to pre-programmed...
  • Post in thread: EG4-LifePower4 vs EG4-LL Lithium Battery

At this point, they are sufficient posts pertaining to the short circuit protection issue of the eg4 LiFePower4, that it is more than just putting the company " ... on blast ... ".
  • Post in thread: Is this a bad joke? Signature Solar creating specs requirements to avoid defective inverter costs?

Guess I'm the complete opposite of @cs1234 as I'll go out of the way to buy from a brick and mortar retailer, and if I can find it locally, extra points.
  • Post in thread: Dual PowerQueen Budget Cabin Build

Started this project a couple years ago. Pops had a tiny Harbor Freight solar panel plugged directly into an old tractor battery to supply lighting for his hunting cabin, which is quite literally, his home away from home. He loves the outdoors! It began with almost a full pallet of 255w Trina...
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar and the EG4-6000EX-48HV

your personal beef with politics you do not align with is getting a bit tiresome... i think your opinion was given in over 25 topics now, and people do know how you feel... i suggest you stop the bashing
  • Post in thread: RayfromTx video "Reduce the Risk When Buying Lifepo4 From Alibaba!" is misleading

New member joins, finds something to be offended about and goes on the attack, gets their feelings hurt when others have differing opinions, has a temper tantrum and throws personal attacks about, then plays victim. Yep, pretty much sums it up. More than likely, these behavioral issues led...
  • Post in thread: New 10kw NHX AIO From Watts247

Two nhx 10kw on the way. Ian doesn't think there will be any issue with a long ct lead. In this case, about ~50'. Is there a specific cat5 cable that I should be looking for as it will be ran in conduit underground.
  • Post in thread: Good Customer Service?

All I can say is why? Why would anyone even consider purchasing from any company that isn't concerned enough to try and make a sale? If they are not worried about making the sale, which does include at least some sage advice about the purchase, what do you think they are going to do when you...
  • Post in thread: QO vs Homeline

Too late for me, the Homeline panels and breakers are already there.
  • Post in thread: New 10kw NHX AIO From Watts247

They're here. Expected the bent top mounting brackets as that was also an issue on Gavin's video. Did not expect 3 out of 4 cts to be broken. The included cts are ~16mm id and the 4/0 feeding my mains panel are a bit over ~17mm od. Looks like I'll have to get larger cts anyway. Heavy...
  • Post in thread: Midnite Solar Announced their new 10kw AIO at Intersolar Today

Not disagreeing. As mentioned earlier in this, or was it another thread, retailers like SigSolar let the customer be the beta tester while more scrupulous manu/retailers like MidNIte pretty much have all the bugs worked out before the customer gets their hands on it, not to mention they tend to...
  • Post in thread: New 10kw NHX AIO From Watts247

    Over panel. NOT over voltage.
  • Post in thread: Eg4 Lifepower4 battery is ticking on start

Why do I get the feeling the playground bullies are flexing their muscle on this forum? Very poor form which reflects poorly upon the company. What's next, are you going to pull our arrest records and threaten to make them public? Signature Solar, it's up to you. Drop the attitude, fix...
  • Post in thread: EG4-Lifepower4 Short Circuit Protection

What I gather from other posts on other threads; it is the inrush current at initial inverter startup that causes the basic eg4 to enter short circuit protection mode. So yes, it may be they are recommending multiple batteries just to cover startup inrush, not max inverter output, or for that...

  • Post in thread: New 10kw NHX AIO From Watts247

Are we entering an era of affordable, large'ish AIO with all the bells and whistles? Anyone else see this at Watts247? Supposed to be available this month. 120lbs. (low freq?), 500v max mppt input, 4 pv inputs @15kw max, grid interactive, UL listed, battery-less or not, IP65. ... and $2800...
  • Post in thread: NEWBIE QUESTION: Long run of wire

Whichever. The link in post #38 is a Mouser search bar for terminal blocks. This link to din rail terminal block are a brand I used to take 2/0 al triplex to 4awg copper. Tidy solution to the problem of wire size/conductor type changes. Eventually, I'll extend the din rail and the bundle of...
  • Post in thread: Have You Registered Your EG4 Battery Warranty?

Doubtful I'll bother with registering my eg4 batteries. If they are prorated it's not going to be worth the bother of s&h and at the rate SigSolar is going, they may not be around in ten years.
  • Post in thread: When the Sun Migrates for the Winter

Yes, here in the middle of the US, the sun migrates South for the winter. 5k worth of used Trina panels. 2.25k facing East, 3k facing South. Arranged the panels in this manner to preserve as much power as possible for nighttime use. Here's the 411. On the top graph, you can see a shadow...
  • Post in thread: Sunfunkits show their true color

IIRC, Docan and 18650 never threatened to blackmail anyone.
  • Post in thread: Changes are coming to the Solar Industry

To clarify, the comment I made was directed towards the politicians and organizations whom heavily influence/govern our society, profiteering considerably from fabricated laws created solely for their personal gain, commonly at the expense of those whom they serve.
