  • Post in thread: Signature Solar disappointing service

My thinking as well. Seems like from what we read here, SS dragged the OP through the ringer, hoping he would go away. This is not customer service here on the forum, this is CYA. Hats off but shame that the OP had to go this route. Like Bud said, when you see one cockroach you can assume...
  • Post in thread: 12v, 24v, or 48v?

Thought of the day: You always read of people converting their 12v system to 48v, but not 48v to 12v.
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar disappointing service

Is it popcorn time again? :) Count yourself blessed, at least they told ya you were screwed. Normally they just ignore and hope you go away.
  • Post in thread: Want to buy new 48v system and have some questions...Need advice

    What are neighbors? :)
  • Post in thread: CALB 200 Amp smoke

Cooper pipe and a burning smell. Did not see that one coming.
  • Post in thread: They want to charge you for using the sun now

Lot of states are wishing California falls off into the Pacific.
  • Post in thread: I have fried 2 charge controllers! Please help!!

You sent somewhere in the neighborhood of 350v to a MPPT controller with a max rating of 150v. Work backwards from there.
  • Post in thread: Sunfunkits show their true color

So what is the net? Never been arrested, safe to order from SFK? What about speeding tickets, bankruptcy, or jay walking?
  • Post in thread: They want to charge you for using the sun now

If what I am reading at the forefront on the website is correct. This reminds me of a quote from Ronald Reagan. "Nine most terrifying words in the English language" = "I am from the government and I am hear to help".
  • Post in thread: Eg4 Lifepower4 battery is ticking on start

I joined this forum after hearing Will talk about the issues with Signature Solar. I had a similar problem with the EG4 48v 100ah waterproof batteries. Issues with the BMS incorrectly reporting SOC, random shutdowns. Each time I called SS I was promised a response. Never happened. I would...
  • Post in thread: Does Solar Pay for Itself? Is it worth it?

Reminds me of an event that took place last week for me. A local family business I frequent a lot - had a new cordless phone system they had purchased, yet sat for a year. They could not find someone to cable it in. Long short, I made a cable from Cat5 that had 4 RJ-11s connected to each...
  • Post in thread: We did a load test on the new EG4 6000EX inverter

This is like watching an old Western movie with a traveling snake oil salesman. A circular saw running without a blade and not cutting anything is not a 15 amp draw. We could go on.
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar disappointing service

    Too funny.
  • Post in thread: Is this 16A PV disconnect a fire hazard?

Would never take this guys word as gospel. No real background and in it for the glam / money. I use to subscribe to him but noticed he deletes comments / discussions that correct his errors. Not someone to trust in my eyes.
  • Post in thread: Have You Registered Your EG4 Battery Warranty?

It is actually not legal, really. Google "Magnuson-Moss Act", Federal Law which prohibits such. Lot of states have stricter laws as well. Regardless the warranty is prorated, which makes it almost worthless in the later years, when you have to endure the cost of shipping the battery back.
  • Post in thread: Battery shipping charges

I have physically been to both. Take away: SanTan is run by highly educated and experienced senior staff that understands business, customer service and have been in business for years and /or brings a ton of experience to the table, i.e they do it right. Their facility is pretty impressive (in...
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar - What roof mounting system

Lookup IronRidge for your mounting. Even more so if you can get them locally.
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar run around?

Maybe this forum is the US based tech support SS advertises? :)
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar disappointing service

I almost thought the same when dealing with them. Not in so much for the poor product quality, but the promises of resolving and getting back that never happened after you continually chase after them.
  • Post in thread: Small diesel generator...

Lot easier to run power cords then diesel lines. Plus safer and more reliable. Yes the refers are stacked in the middle of the ship down low, close to the power source (ships generator in this case). At port (on land) there are special locations to power them, awaiting pickup. You rarely...
  • Post in thread: They want to charge you for using the sun now

Given the current way our government runs they will force us to have meters that can be read outside the house read by the Gestapo. Wait, they already do that. Just like in my state where it is legal for a tax assessor to walk into your property; look in windows to see if you basement is...
  • Post in thread: Lag bolts to fasten Uni-Strut to RV roof

I tend to do larger panels in the 450 to 500w range so like to hit every rafter. It is quick and easy as your are already there. If concerned about damaging more of the roof, you already did and adding a few more holes will not make a difference in my eyes. 5 or 10 holes = same amount of...
  • Post in thread: Wondering why're many people still building 12/24v system ?

How many years from now, can you repost the same thing except replace 48v with 96v?
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar run around?

I can hear SS now: Sorry, it took us three months to troubleshoot, unfortunately that puts you outside the refund window.
  • Post in thread: I have fried 2 charge controllers! Please help!!

Take your time and do measurements before connecting. Do not want to see another one blown up. :)
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar disappointing service

They are nothing more than a get a sea container from China, open it up and put shipping labels to the USA on what's inside. No value add at all. If you can deal with that, they are OK. Other than that, I think there are too many left over JB Weld fumes in that building.
  • Post in thread: I have fried 2 charge controllers! Please help!!

I consider "work backwards" as teaching a man to fish. :)
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar disappointing service

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  • Post in thread: Solar powered UV water filter

That in itself is a reason for me to shy away. Been there, done that and nothing good comes from it.
