I personally empathize with SS… I own two businesses and in my experience the public has a short fuse these days. They also refuse to do their own research. And with this industry being fairly new to the general consumer many of the complaints and questions are just due to the lack of...
My monster system is done on the DC side… gotta upgrade my service to 200 amps and put in the transfer switch with a friend that’s a great electrician.
System components detail: 2 x 15k Sol-Ark inverters, 3 EG4 Power Pro batteries, and a rack of EG4 LL batteries as backup. PV is 12 x 400 watt...
Big news happened in the solar industry today. Sol-Ark is no longer the only EMP out of the box hardened inverter on the market. EG4 Electronics announced that they’re 18 KPV inverter, EG4 Power Pro all weather wall battery, and their EG4 LL series batteries (LLS & LLV2) are all EMP hardened...
Great test... thanks for putting in the time to do that for all of us solar junkies. I love my two 15ks... runs my whole house without any issues. I'm working on setting up a long term, real life, day to day test to compare the 15k to the 18kpv. Working on getting the materials to tweak my...
Have you tried to use the Sol-Ark system sizing tool or the solar panel calculator? I found them very useful. FYI we live in southeastern Louisiana and have the following system that powers our whole house.

Like I said in my post it seems to be hit or miss from what i've seen and talked to other Ecoflow users. Mainly the SHP that was my issue. That and the poor tech support that kept making me start from square one every time I called them. Hard to connect to the higher level of tech support...
I’m definitely going to look into the laws posted I’m a notary public and my sister is an attorney and I will ask her advice on the subject… FYI I’m going off grid living in New Orleans
That makes sense… only one of the batteries started acting up the other two were fine
UPDATE — UPDATE. — UPDATE
Quick update: thanks to Markus_EG4 I think we’ve solved the issue and I have a plan of action.
Two issues came into play
1. With Sol-Ark inverters connected to EG4 Power...
I'm interested as well.... all in due time. I'm waiting on some materials to do the rebuild the right way. I also have to do some more testing on the full compliment of batteries with my current setup which is working flawlessly so far. I'm just in my first full deep cycle with the rack of EG4...
What percentage discount did you get for military? The current price to the general public on Signature Solar's website is $5199 each. Was your pricing including tax and shipping if it applies? I’m trying to understand your numbers. Prices offered to the general public without any discount...
I can relate to that need. That's why I went with 2 Sol-Ark 15k's in parallel... I have 3 EG4 Power Pro batteries as my main battery bank for daily use with a rack of LL V2's for reserve power if needed. Appreciate you sharing. Fun stuff.
I get it everyone wants things to work perfect all the time.... but reality is every mechanical device can fail and Murphy's law says it probably will. How we handle things when they do fail is a separate issue. As long as a company is doing what they can to solve issues and they are listening...
I just got an early Christmas present... can't tell you how happy I am to hear about the coms. And now I feel even more justified in the extra expense for the LL V2's. I'm a hi tech junky and it was only logical to go with the V2's when I new I had eyes on the new power pro
Sig Solar will ship flat rate to a residence $150 and where I live they haven’t charged me tax. Ordered from sovereign because I wanted to go with the Sol-Ark 15k over the 18Kpv after doing my research. I was just showing that it’s not that much difference in price if you’re trying to decide
Yes and everything is running great. I had to get the amphenol connectors from Signature Solar to make sure they were the correct ones. Very happy with my setup
I think its a case of a company growing faster than they are ready for... I think that the delta pro is a good product but they are trying to add too many new products without truly working out the bugs. Quality control could be the true problem. Several people may get a SHP with no issues and...
Ran across this article and thought some of you might find it interesting. With much of the discussion here being about generating your own power... how would you like to have your own micro nuclear reactor...
thanks 2.5 is what I get using the calculator and the actual battery numbers
and for my rack of 6 EG4 LL V2 batteries (backup or reserve power to my wall batteries) I get 1.9 m ohms using the calculator and the actual numbers from the QC sheet.
Like the others have said the Sol-Ark is designed to handle that situation. As a matter of fact its so smart it can tell when the power from the company is fluctuating and will disconnect form the grid temporarily until it senses the power is stable and will reconnect. I have two 15k's and they...
The internal bus bars are rated at 600A… if you check the manual they suggest using the internal bus bars with systems with up to 5 batteries (3 15Ks in parallel with 5) and then use external bus bar with systems requiring more than 5 batteries.
Just want to give thanks and praise to Sol-Ark tech support. I was having issues with a current overload fault and parallel fault with my two 15Ks. Nothing made sense and I was worried it was something I did in the settings. After 1 hour and 48 minutes of the process if elimination with tech...
Will do… I’ll let you know if there is any issues. I should be finalizing my AC side tomorrow. Electrician should be here tomorrow at 3PM. Can’t wait to run test on my new monster
Battery type is 00... and yes as you can see in the pic i have the EG4 conduit boxes on top of each battery and then I ran connections to a main bus bar in the wiring trough below the two sol-arks, and then connected the main battery bus bar to the two sol-arks. I've been tracking deep cycle...
Very true and I'm trying to make sure that they work as advertised.... I wasn't asking if they kept the batteries at 70F. If you read my post I say that I keep my batteries in my garage and I was just pointing out that I don't have to worry about that due to the 55F in my garage. The question...
I have 2 Sol-Ark 15ks in parallel connected to 3 Power Pro batteries and I finally got the AC side done yesterday. My system was running fine on battery only from 10PM last night until around 11:30 AM to day… then the BMS from the batteries started sending incorrect voltage and SOC information...
Thanks I hope those settings work for my LL batteries. Since the last time I communicated with you on this topic my situation has progressed. I now have my two 15Ks connected to 3 Power Pro’s and my 6 LL V2’s after I updated the firmware for the LL V2’s so that they can communicate with the PP...
I found the answer in the QC (quality control sheet) from the factory. It’s 7.55 on one battery, 7.83 on the second, and 7.09 on the third. So with that information what number should I put in the discharge tab setup? Should I do an average?
Sounds like the Smart Home Panel is the problem to me. Have you noticed the complete redesign of the SHP with the SHP2.
I had 2 Delta Pros, 4 xtra batteries, and the smart home panel (first one), the SHP was defective and fried one of DP’s, it took a month to replace the DP but ECOFLOW...
The amphenol connectors from EG4 are the some specs as the cable that come with the battery. You will have to use 2/0 cable with the connectors, and I had to first crimp with a 4/0 crimp and then a second 2/0 crimp for them to connect properly.
I have 3 PP batteries and to top balance them I...
Like i stated in my post the panel passed the wiring test every time. but when I would try to switch to battery power "pop" thats what I would here and then another DP would go down. They tried to blame my loads but that wasn't the issue and I proved that to them before they would admit the...
I'm setting up a system very similar to the one Will is running is his shop with the new EG4 PowerPro batteries and a rack of EG4 LL batteries and want to get the same T-class fuse he is using on his system since I know it works. Anyone know?
I did all the DC side a little at a time. I just got the last piece if the puzzle for the AC side (fused disconnect) and my electrician should be able to do that install in a few days. Then my beast should be ready for real life trials. Gotta have the AC work done by a certified electrician...
I’ve been able to have closed loop with either battery bank. Even though Sol-Ark support will always say they don’t support closed loop coms with EG4 batteries. They’re taking to each other for me no problem. But to clear I never connect bother banks to the inverters at the same time it would...
I understand code will vary depending on jurisdiction but how to ground the batteries in the rack shouldn't vary that much. Basically there will be 3 options
1. No need to ground (some have argued on another thread I started on FB EG4 users group that its a closed system and doesn't need to...
Thanks... that's what I thought from reading the manual when I first received the Sol-Ark but I had to wait 2 months on batteries to get this show on the road. Excuse the dumb question the answer is on the bottom of page 17. I should be fired :ROFLMAO:
I think that was his suggestion to have both on each panel. But I thought if each panel had a micro inverter then each panel could do its own optimization via the micro inverter... To have both on each panel is getting really pricey and the math may not make sense to do it.
EG4 just put out a new video and the configuration process seems to be the same as for the LL V2's... and you're right it will definitely be uncharted territory so I'll let you know when I know. Probably do a video on the results no matter if its positive or negative.
James I need your help with figuring out what is the specs on the Amphenol connectors used by the Power Pro batteries. I can't find answers in the manual and the parts have the manufacturers name Degson but no identafying numbers. Are they the 8mm or 8mm EMI amphenol connectors? I'm trying...
I'm definitely going to set my system up the same way. By the way I just submitted my diagram for my system for approval by Sol-Ark for warranty purposes and the tech guy said "I did forget to say this in the previous email, for EG4 batteries we don't support the communication. I know they say...
I’m trying to setup my Sol-Ark 15k with the APSmart RSD and I’d love to know what 12 volt external power supply people are using. I know the Sol-Ark can’t power it I contated APSmart and they admitted so but didn't offer an exact solution to the problem. I’m stuck… Attached are images of the...
I'm trying to setup my Apsmart RSD.... i got the outdoor kit with the transmitter and the power supply but I can't get the power supply to work with my two Sol-Ark 15k's in parallel. How did you setup the power supply on your system? Based on the power supply requirements in the manual and...
If you're not supposed to ground the battery then whey does number six on page 4 of the manual say to make sure the battery and the rack are properly grounded. (see pic) Not to say you're wrong but if you are they should put better instructions in the manual. My batteries are LL V2's
Definitely appreciate the offer for a quick phone conversation... I may take you up on that but I think I'm almost there. I understand that I would have to disconnect and re-connect to each USB connected source of information in the software, not a problem, I'm a nerd from way back. And I...
I'm about to have all of my equipment finally delivered to do my install and was wondering what current users are running grounds for 6 EG4 LL V2 batteries in a rack. In the videos I've seen so far I don't see ground wires connected to the grounding lug on each battery so I'm thinking they are...
Your direct connection to your batteries (not the hub connecting to the splitter) from the Pi.... what are the settings you're using in SA to see the battery data? CAN Protocol in the battery tab?
That's the certification for UL9540A not UL9540 there is a difference. To pass inspection in some municipalities they may require UL9540 certification. https://www.altestore.com/blog/2022/09/what-to-know-about-ul-9540-and-energy-storage-systems/
Markus I’d love to believe there is no warranty issue using both PP and LL V2’s together but the manual says otherwise. And James also said that it’s an issue that needs to be worked out so coms will be functional between PP & LL batteries. See second bullet point under warning in PP manual...
I have a master bus bar in the trough under the two Sol-Arks and everything connect to the bus bar. Battery banks, two groups, the 3 Power Pro's, and the rack of 6 LLV2's. They are all in closed loop. The Chargeverter will soon be connected to the main bus bar as well. Currently its...
My electrician who is assisting in doing my grid and load connections for my 2 Sol-Ark 15k’s in parallel asked me how many amps will the two inverters draw from the grid if there is no PV coming in and charging batteries from the grid connections? For the question I will be charging a rack of 6...
So there are two cables required to do both updates? I have the cable that came with my batteries that I used with BMS tools. Is there another cable other than
EG4 USB Read/Write Cable?
https://signaturesolar.com/eg4-usb-read-write-cable/
I understand I need to do each one separate but...
Ok my fine forum folks I sent the same question to Signature Solar and they sent this reply
“As long as the battery bank is connected to the inverter properly and the inverter is grounded properly, the batteries and the rack themselves do not need any grounding wires as it will all be grounded...
It looks like they're out of business or headed that way fast... Almost everything on their website is marked as "SOLD OUT". Only a few items I could find were even being offered for sale.
Easy solution found… connect the AC side of the power supply to L1 & L2 of the load terminal on my 15k and works perfect. Ran ground wire as well of course.
I have three EG4 Power Pro batteries and I always top balance my batteries prior to connecting. So I took a pair of battery cables from my PP batteries and added a 2/0 lug on the end without the Amphenol connector. I connected the Amphenol connector to a battery and then connected the 2/0 lug...
Here's a pic from Solar Assistant from todays activity. You can see the spikes in energy from the grid right after the BMS reported a drop in voltage. I have also posted the battery setting used in the inverter.
I've used 48v batteries to charge up my Delta Pro using these cables.

How do you plan to charge the...
So I use the same cable for both ports and based on the written docs it’s the same procedure for updating software as the Power Pro batteries as seen in the recent install and commission video recently released.
FYI sometimes it may seem I’m asking a dumb question but most of the time I do it...
I’m about to update the firmware on my LL V2 batteries so they can communicate with the PowerPro batteries and I have a question. I’m following the instructions in the video from SS labeled EG4 PowerPro ESS EG4 18Kpv install and commissioning and they are connecting the RS485 cable to the CAN...
I've been curious about the Ruixu batteries and the 15k as far as coms... you're having no issues at all? Are you off grid or still tied to the grid? If you are tied to the grid are you selling back excess energy when available?
Zero, I’d like to see what weird output readings you’re getting on the load side? Are you splitting the battery com to use Solar Assistant? By the way I also have 6 LLV2 batteries connecting with the three Power Pros and they’re all talking to the Sol-Ark. it took updating the firmware on...
Theoretical question... I have 3 EG4 Power Pro batteries in parallel connected to two Sol-Ark 15k's in parallel and was wondering if in a emergency situation could I disconnect the batteries from my inverter, and connect the EG4 Chargeverter to the internal bus bar in one of the batteries to...
