  • Post in thread: Load limit of AC IN line of Growatt 5000 ES

It looks like just before the AC input a 50A breaker is required. In my opinion that is oversized and only useful if you have large current spikes on the output in bypass mode. If your inverted is rated for 5000W it means AC IN, AC OUT and the internal bypass relays are rated for the same power...
  • Post in thread: MPP solar LV2424 Code 01

Like most inverters your MPP fan is equipped with an internal digital tachometer that should report back the fan speed to the main board. If the main board is not detecting the fan spinning, wheter it is really spinning or not, it will throw fault code 1. Silencing the alarm can be a solution...
  • Post in thread: Getting 24V AC efficiently

I've used some PowerStream PST-INV1224 to drive industrial devices from a 12V battery backup, they accept 12 VDC as input and produce a 24 VAC "pure" sine wave output. They tend to get hot so I did enclose them inside a metal box with forced ventilation. I don't consider this as a "simple...
  • Post in thread: Is this a good battery for the price?

Every kind of battery has its own nominal resting voltage. In your case it's about 12.7 V, so it's normal the battery voltage will drop to the nominal after it has disconnected from the charger. Enersys is a good and reputable brand. You had a very good deal and paid about 1/10 of its original...
  • Post in thread: Have i permanently ruined my batteries?

Please let me break in by saying that the specific gravity is the ratio of the weight of the electrolite solution to the weight of an equal volume of water at a specified temperature, usually 25 C. So, the specific gravity changes: - by temperature, due to the electrolite volume contraction and...
  • Post in thread: All-In-One versus separate SCC and Inverter?

Mostly AIO systems could be configured to not send power to the grid and can be configured to do most of what you need. For a quasi-DIY approach that requires some electric knowledge, my few small ideas below: About the lights, you can use an SCC with a dry contact output that closes when: -...
  • Post in thread: Ok bms

Which JK BMS do you exactly have? It could be an idea to try to exclude any hardware problem before to understand what could be the cause. Is the current reading normally working through the whole range? Do you have the current calibration function and did you calibrate the device? Is the issue...
  • Post in thread: About the YR1035+ meter

Thank you for the insights. I have an IM3536 that I bought used in Japan a while ago and I just received an YR1035+ from Aliexpress, I was curious about your results and I can confirm I got about the same results you had. I didn't expect that since the prices and quality of the two devices are...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Fundamentals...

I think your point is the most important to keep in mind when dealing with a PV18 platform from MUST while using an external SCC at the same time in parallel with the battery bank. I had it long ago with a 48 V lead acid battery made from 24 cells, that are important to equalize at 60 V at least...
  • Post in thread: What are Samlex inverter users using for the DC connection?

Industrial type pin terminals are made to ensure good surface contact in high amperage situations, you can't easily cover the same surface by using soldered strands or typical ferrules. Pin type terminals are not difficult to find and you can use any other brand with about the same pin dimension...
  • Post in thread: Possible grounding issue ?

Not sure if you managed to solve in the meanwhile. I had about the same problem with a DALY 500A in a 32S Li-Ion configuration with the BMS showing random statistic values. I had the battery pack in a closed environment with high frequency inverters for brushless motors that I think were causing...
  • Post in thread: MPP solar LV2424 Code 01

The tachometer is an hall effect sensor (located inside the fan central block) that detects the intermittent magnetic field of the rotor, so dust usually can't interfere with its reading. But dust can surely slow the fan down, especially when starting, so it could definitely be the culprit...
  • Post in thread: Load limit of AC IN line of Growatt 5000 ES

It really depends on the brand and model, but generally AC OUT capacity is equal to the rated inverter power while AC IN has multiple rails inside so its capacity is greater because it should accept the rated current plus the charger current. This is the best case scenario.
  • Post in thread: Ok bms

Your BMS have an internal sensor that measure charging and discharging current from/to the battery. This sensor is providing a specified range of measurements to the BMS internal logic. This range is usually equivalent to a value from zero to the maximum current supported by the BMS. Any value...
  • Post in thread: LV6548 - grounding the DC- of the solar panels?

For most solar systems you don't want to ground the PV DC side, so you will keep a floating DC on the PV side and you can additionally ground the frames if you know what you're doing. For some solar systems, especially with the common back-contact solar cells and isolated DC/AC inverters, you...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Fundamentals...

Late reply but here are some more explanations to your doubts: The PV18 only comes equipped with a PWM charger or a MPPT charger. Your two units seems to be both equipped with a MPPT charger. The internal SCC is a nicely made completely autonomous board only connected to the bus bars and to the...
  • Post in thread: Finally Something to Show

Many compliments for your first project! I like the details, such as the battery compartment ventilation. Details always make a difference. Experience also comes from mistakes so please don't be afraid of going forward.
  • Post in thread: Long run AC wire

I will just leave a note about your "skimp" question. Wire size is not only meant to provide more current and less voltage drop at a specified distance, but also to guarantee line protection on both sides of the line. That being said, and since you need to keep your circuit breakers near the...
