20a seems to be about average compared to last year. I believe the max output of the panels output about 29.9a total at peak output (combined). 3x 315w panels in series. Charge controller is the 40a mppt controller, 4215nb iirc. I actually didn't redo any wiring between last year am now, which...
I do half lock washers on there currently. They don't seem to be doing the job. It's probably my fault... I am terrified of tightening these too much and stripping the threads.
I wasn't worried about the panels, but the batteries. I know the BMS has built in protection but I preferred not to risk it. 3 months or so I just had it parked without touching it. The other 3 months I had the panels disconnected but that's it, no other changes. Doesn't get very warm where I...
I got it figured out. The BMS was fine. The charge controller was set for a 12v system. The triron series is an absolute pain to get connected to the PC. Once I finally got it setup everything started charging and reading correctly. Now I just have to get it in the bus and hooked up to the panels.
So a little more info. Charge controller is rated for 40a in and 150v in unless I'm reading the spec sheet wrong. The batteries were hooked up to the controller as well. Bottom line is my model.
Yes, It was a little cloudy about half the days and sunny the rest. I could be overreacting a bit, I've been known to do that. Maybe subconsciously I just wanted to buy new toys.
I'll cut down my power usage over the next few days and see what happens. Unplugged the fridge just now, looks like...
Ah, I see what you mean. The daylight hours are only getting shorter and shorter.
One thing I've always wondered is how low is too low? I don't want to push the boundaries but it would be nice to know when I need to shit my pants.
Ended up scoring that jbd BMS. I hope the don't use FedEx ?. Now I need to work with the local solar place on panels. Then I'll be able to get my charge controller.
Long time no talk, which is a good thing because my solar has been running flawlessly. However I have the opportunity to purchase a 2015 Nissan leaf EV for next to nothing. There are almost zero details on the vehicle other than it seems to be in very good condition. It is a police impound...
Perfect. Scooped that up just now. Won't have it until Monday but that's fine. I probably have enough power here to work until then (just a laptop and monitor for work). I'll probably make my way out of town to top it up this weekend with the generator.
I don't particularly like using the...
Yeah that's around what I gathered. I messaged the seller to verify the amps at 9ish each. Getting 113 at full sun when I tested them.
Now I just need to source a charge controller. I'm a bit hung up on this part as the 150v controllers appear a bit pricey. Tempted to drop down to two panels...
