Basically turned off all my gadgets for about 4 days, minus my work laptop. They came around after a few days. I had the voltages but I don't think then had the "torque" behind them to go the distance. Back to standard operating procedure. This thread definitely highlighted some things I need...

Luckily if got a pretty large roof with a ton of space. So really sky is the limit as far as how many panels I can fit.
  • Post in thread: Repurposed EV batteries?

That is a crazy price drop compared to when I build my system 2 years ago.
  • Post in thread: Short term storage

In getting ready to tear into the interior of my bus to redo it. This requires basically everything on the inside being stripped. I have 8 lifepo4 cells with an overkill bms. The batteries will need to be disconnected for a month or two. What's the best way to store them? Bms still connected...
  • Post in thread: What am I doing wrong with my BMS?

I have my BMS all setup and ready to go. It's 8s 24v diy pack with the standard 280ah cells. I have been testing it inside before installing it in my bus. I just get around to putting on the charge controller. Imagine my surprise when the charge only read 14/15v? I have 30v going into the charge...
  • Post in thread: Getting ready to install my charge controller.

#1 Installing epever 4215n. Long story short I fried my old controller due to a residual charge in the panels. It's a very cloudy day today and it's still showing 110v from my panels. When the sun sets should the voltages level off so I can install? If not what's a safe way to clear that charge...
  • Post in thread: What am I doing wrong with my BMS?

Current setup just for testing. I have two balance leads from the main ground to the BMS then on the opposite side I have two leads going to the charge controller. I'm thinking it's likely that I can't change the max voltage on the charge controller yet. Annoying that the triron controller can...

Also after reviewing some designs I may have made a mistake with my current setup. My inverter is hooked directly to my main positive & negative, other designs have the inverter ground hooked up between the BMS ground and the charge controller. Thoughts?

That makes a lot of sense.
  • Post in thread: Looking for advice on what size components.

Is there anything specific I need to look for in terms of panels? I was going to go with 800-1200 watts for panels.
  • Post in thread: What am I doing wrong with my BMS?

Ah I see. I had a hard time finding the exact setup. The overkill had three. So one to the main negative and one on the c side of the charger right.
  • Post in thread: BMS flipping into charge protection rapidly.

I have been charging my 24v system 8 cell system via a generator as my charge controller went out. I have a power supply plugged into the generator and the power supply ground lead hooked into where the BMS ground would go into the charge controller. Positive going to the main positive on the...

Thanks I scored one out of there. Went with a cheapish option since I will hopefully only be building one battery bank lol
  • Post in thread: What am I doing wrong with my BMS?

    This didn't work. I went from having 26.5 v to 1.5v
  • Post in thread: BMS flipping into charge protection rapidly.

The BMS is flipping into charge protection and cutting the current to the batteries. It's doing this like every ten seconds.

I just got my 280ah AliExpress cells in the mail today. They look immaculate and Im in the process of bottom balancing them now. I'm incorporating them into my short bus skoolie build. I had some questions on fb and they pointed me here. I have 8 cells and want to build a 24v system. My power...

    I was way too excited.

Placed an order for 3 315watt cells based on his recommendation. Going to go pick them up and a charge controller this weekend. He's gonna spec it all out this weekend when I'm down there. It's about 90 minutes out so I cant make it during the week.

Really the only thing I'm running is a PC for work and one for some light video editing. I have a propane burner installed. It's really a basic setup. I won't be living in it full time but I like the idea of roughing it a bit. Other than the PC's it's just a router and small devices like cell...
  • Post in thread: Issues with top balance.

I bought a charger that takes way too long to charge to 3.65 v. I think it's been on the charger for about ten days and it's only at 3.37ish. I set it to CC instead of CV to get it to charge quicker. I checked it this afternoon and it was at 3.7, yikes. Pulled it off the charger and after a bit...
  • Post in thread: Issues with top balance.

Ty for the advice. Yall are always so helpful. Yeah I was checking at the terminal. I have it set to 3.7v now and only charging at around 5a @ 20ish watts. Going to take a while to finish but I'd rather not burn these before I even get to used them.
  • Post in thread: EVE Cell degradation.

Do you think the BMS itself would cause a parasitic drain during storage?
  • Post in thread: Fried my charge controller...

So I was on the road and exhausted. Like 10 hours of sleep over a week. Wasn't paying attention for a few minutes and I think I made a couple of errors. It's possible the controller was bad but I'm not sure. I have 3 "SSX-315M-BLK-120-NEW Q-Cells 315W Solar Panels, Black" panels. The charge...
  • Post in thread: Issues with top balance.

I didn't no, when I started top balancing I didn't have the BMS in yet. Kind of running out of time to get on the road so I just went with a parallel setup to get it going. I just got it in today so I may move over and do that. I'm not in a great neighborhood so I'm reluctant to setup my panels...
  • Post in thread: BMS flipping into charge protection rapidly.

It is a current connected BMS and I'm told it's similar to an overkill BMS. I believe I enabled charge protection but I'm not sure. That period is pretty foggy. I included some screen shots just so we can be on the same page about it. Does anything stand out to you?
  • Post in thread: BMS flipping into charge protection rapidly.

Thanks for all the help. Went out to the far side of town again to run the generator. Followed the event log to chase the loose connections in real time. Got it charging now without any clipping. I'm waiting to install the new nuts etc until I get my new charge controller on Monday. Then maybe...
  • Post in thread: EVE Cell degradation.

I live in my bus half the year, other half is in a regular house. I run a 24v system with epever mppt charge controller, 900w in panels, current connected bms. 8x eve 3.2 v cells. I stay in southern California during the winter so sunshine generally isn't a problem. Last year I was able to run...

I have a call setup with the local solar people today so I should get more info on the panels and charge controller later.
  • Post in thread: BMS flipping into charge protection rapidly.

Ah that does make sense. I drove 2200 miles over 3 days with these in the back. I've been very ginger with the bolts as threaded aluminum scares me. I've had some issues with them vibrating loose.
  • Post in thread: Looking for advice on what size components.

Can anyone recommend a battery charger for top balancing? I believe it was 3.65 volts?
