  • Post in thread: 9000 BTU Mini Split Heat Pump Hi SEER Ratings: Innovair vs LG vs Mitsu (etc) Worth it?

SEER will dramatically reduce when going over 9K units. And another advantage with multi split units where you have one unit outside and multiple panels inside. Is efficiency where you only using unit depending on your time of the day and places in the house you need at the time. I'm originally...
  • Post in thread: Daly BMS Active balance coming now!

1A active balancer is way behind other active balancers on the market. Let as know if it's cable to run full 1A when deltaV is in single digits mV. This is one of very important aspects with active balancers that are capable to do max output even when low in deltaV. I'm still puzzled what is so...
  • Post in thread: Felicity LiFePO4 uses CATL cells

Following I have ordered LPBF 15kwh pack. If you have time it would be nice if you do discharge tests with some good shunt. Looking like 2 rows per 16S 2P setup. And did you receive laptop software for BMS insight.
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

Depending on torque wrench manufacturer....most of them want you to stay at 30% on the lower side for accurate readings. 5 Nm is enough if you using flexible bus bars. Different height and non flexible bus bars will require checking for any gap when you tight one side. This is usually l run...
  • Post in thread: Felicity Solar batteries

Newest model uses EVE cells. At least with information on hand i have from them. I have tow packs on the order and it will be stripped down for all to see if this is worth the money for other people to consider. If not passed my satisfaction i will write it off on my business expenses and reuse...
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

Problem even with fast-acting Class-T fuses or SSR Relay is in rush current that can easily fry mosfet or SSR. And no communication between BMS in parallel setup. There are required good software algorithm for rhis to work and never let one bank if kicked out from rest of battery banks back...
  • Post in thread: Best LifePo4 charge controller settings known to man for Maximum Service life and Minimum battery stress!!! 5,000-10,000+ cycles?

Sorry if someone didn’t understand my post. I do remove bus bars for individual cell internal resistance.....for internal resistance under load or charge i use all cells in parallel with known values for each cells. It is just necessary to know where leads are applied on the bus bars and need...
  • Post in thread: Active balancer, make it smart!?

Easy way to test this out is to apply to one lead cell voltage that will exceed settings you set.....and you watch on this battery cell and cell average and see if it wake up. I have rejected many Chinese balancers because they are looking for average voltage and not single cell to wake up and...
  • Post in thread: Cell 1 voltage issues

You will need to do some detective work on your side. It could be power draw to keep BMS running making your #1 cell getting out of SOC over time . I have experienced this problem with some BMS platforms. It could be issue with balancing terminals on the bms that can bleed energy constantly even...
  • Post in thread: Felicity Solar Lithium Batteries

I will once I'm back to US, I'm in Spain now at my property. I have received 3 of them and one of them will be completely open and inspected with plenty of pictures and my personal opinion on this matter, is it worth the money. When I have received first one there was very limited information...
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

That would be very high limit for mosfet even if they are cooled with coolant especially for type they use in this BMS.
  • Post in thread: Felicity Solar batteries

From what I was told when visiting this factory there are two different types of batteries ,depending on model they are 3000 cycle ( my understanding grade B) and 6000 cycle ( my understanding grade A). 15kw battery banks are 4 rows setup 8+8 16s and another 2 rows for 16s. Old model 15kw (...
  • Post in thread: Panels to the rain roof advice

It is nice to have about 0.5 meters space between 2 or 3 rows of panels for maintenance and cleaning. Especially when laying down and working on wiring or connectors issues. Also good space for blowing leafs if they accumulated between roof and solar panels. Space between roof and panels should...
  • Post in thread: Felicity Solar batteries

I have ordered 2 sets 15kw battery banks from Felicity Solar, new model. Will update when they arrive on battery BMS...Cell arraignment and other things that are catching my eye. Second picture is from the factory when I visited them. They are
  • Post in thread: Lifespan of FET-based BMS?

Cruiser owners should follow military reputation and have 2 of each part's on hand as spare. And have double safety and modular system that could be switched if existing one failed and need repairs. One in service and one on idle and keep switching every month to keep them alive. Dual wire runs...
  • Post in thread: Battery Posts and Loctite: Will it Add Significant Additional Resistance?

Only downside it will be if you are using bms leads for balancing on the screws and you didn't clean top side of the bus bar for good connections. Taking good care to the details are important.
  • Post in thread: I can't seem to charge my 2015 Nissan Leaf!

How do you come to this conclusion. When using L1 EVSE it is less than 85% efficient When using L2 EVSE it is 93-95% efficient depending on the EV inverter and where in the world you are using it.
  • Post in thread: Lifespan of FET-based BMS?

If you practice 60% of ratings for BMS you will have long life. What kills mosfet is heat and imbalance when handling max current board is designed for. Heat sinks applications are usually eliminated in cheap BMS designs and they are using more cheap mosfet arrangements in parallel one for...
  • Post in thread: Is Seplos BMS precharge sufficient for Multiplus II 48/5000?

Precharge is set by time required to make it work. To find right amount of time you will need to experiment with your setup.
  • Post in thread: Balance two lifepo4 100Ah batteries from different manufacturers

Without experient it will be hard to stay...if you have stubborn cells eventually it will destroy good cell also because of non stop balancing. If you have deltaV high like 0.2 V or more you will need balancer 2A minimum and be very careful when charging. If charging current is higher than what...
  • Post in thread: Best LifePo4 charge controller settings known to man for Maximum Service life and Minimum battery stress!!! 5,000-10,000+ cycles?

Bus bars with Pyro fuses when become available for aftermarket will change how many you could do in parallel with no issues on safety. For EV they are down to 1mOhm resistance and have temperature probe also.
  • Post in thread: Best LifePo4 charge controller settings known to man for Maximum Service life and Minimum battery stress!!! 5,000-10,000+ cycles?

I happen to work with laboratory tools and proper calibrated tools are very important. And after all checking was done all necessary terminals and connection inspected it goes through cycle discharge and charge while continously recording data on individual cells resistance and voltage with...
  • Post in thread: JK BMS issue with charging

Also some benchtop power supplies need V sensing and this will be only possible if you enabled discharging on BMS. Most of beginners and not very advanced users need to become familiar with all tools that they are using before they start messing with battery cells or battery pack voltage...
  • Post in thread: Best LifePo4 charge controller settings known to man for Maximum Service life and Minimum battery stress!!! 5,000-10,000+ cycles?

Absorb time can be easily figured if you have run battery cell charge and discharge tests. Example if you are after 3.330 to3.450 V absorb will be necessary if you want to bring lifepo4 chemistry to max energy at this conservative voltage level. Also many need to understand that with this...
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

Running straight from Alternator to the lifepo4 chemistry is going to overheat and lower your Alternator life quickly. I would advise on some sort of DC-DC converter that can regulate current. Running 100 A for extended periods will heat stator over 70°C even if running high speed on the rotor...
  • Post in thread: Balance two lifepo4 100Ah batteries from different manufacturers

If run as parallel battery banks you will be locked on Ah of pack that has less Ah. If you running in Series you will have set bms to stay on flat curve especially on low V of lifepo4 chemistry otherwise you will face problems with balancing overtime. But 3 Ah difference is not the problem if...
  • Post in thread: Be careful

Using rigid bus bars in harsh environments and exposed to the road vibration including high temperatures in the summer if used in vehicle especially in location posted is disaster waiting to happen. You are lucky to have vehicle still in one peace. Building battery pack for harsh conditions or...
  • Post in thread: JK-B2A24S Active Balancer firmware upgrade?

It is good practice to make maintenance on all bus bars especially if in service for several years....because if there is oxidation happening between terminals and bus bars it will make S type battery pack quite imbalanced. Easiest way to see if you have bus bars imbalance is to look under load...
  • Post in thread: Balance two lifepo4 100Ah batteries from different manufacturers

In theory. But in reality here is what will happen pack that has higher Ah ratings will naturally provide more current in parallel than pack with 50 Ah. As SOC continues to drop two packs will start drifting in the Voltage vs SOC ( we know that this chemistry has quite flat curve). And one that...
  • Post in thread: Combiner Box Output Voltage/Current help

Voltage simply explained.....it like river higher the voltage wider the river and less resistance to move current. Combined two strings with different voltage will result in interference and losses and less current to the MPPT also if back feed happen one of solar panels failed it will back feed...
