My first remote connection method was 110baud acoustic coupler. I brought a Decwriter home from work so I could dial in to fix system problems rather than make the 2 hr round trip on weekends or nights. I stilled charged 4hrs work time though :)

I turn my inverter on and off using the remote switch but that doesn't disconnect the DC input. If my BMS disconnects on the discharge side then something is really wrong as my batteries never get that low

That's what I did with mine. Made the 4s pack and charged it thru the BMS with a car charger. Then I reconfigured it and top balanced in parallel. My battery box config allows me to put the cells in parallel (using supplied busbars) or series without unclamping them

Are you including cost of money or lost opportunity for the capital expended? If you aren't 100% disconnected from the grid then there is a standby cost for the connection (at least where I live)

That would be a better layout if using heavy cable for the cell interconnects. My AGMs are done with 1/0 cable and that stuff is hard to bend into a U shape and would have an outward pressure on the legs which it supposed to avoid in comparison to the bus bars.

Any screen shots of your dashboards with NodeRed? I am running with ESP32s->Mosquitto->Telegraf->InfluxDB->Grafana right now but Grafana formatting for mobile display are pretty poor with a lot of wasted space so I'm looking for alternatives.
