Whoohooo! FedEx just alerted me my shipment was tendered to FedEx. Bar any acts of God, I should have batteries on Tue 02/23/21. 64 pieces (I'm kicking myself I didn't order extras.)
Wondering if anyone can share their AC1 or AC2 Advanced configurations? We've had some contiguous cloudy days here in So AZ (Monsoon season,) and I really need to get that generator online and stable. Here's what I have attached:
- AC Settings
- AC2 (Generator) Settings
- Generator Support...
It sounds awesome! I think our use cases are not that far apart. I"m big into home automation and I can definitely see the possibilities.
I didn't think about "coulomb counting" as I already have a Schneider BatMon using a 500A/50mV shunt. I did consider using the Raspberry Pi with a shunt...
I know I'm coming to the party late, and I only skimmed the previous 24 pages of posts, but I have a few questions after looking at the Design and Reflection pages:
Have you considered multiple paths to the battery? Separate fail-safe connections for SCC and Loads so that the Loads could be...
This is a timely post. I've just ordered 8 SEPLOS MASON DIY kits. Does your screen shot imply that the Conext Gateway can talk to the Seplos BMS?
I just looked thru the docs and I don't see a Read/Write address to set "Maximum Charge Current" for the MPPT80. I have a MPPT100 in route, so...
I think I may have found my solution. I have been experimenting with using Modbus and the Schneider Conext Gateway to query/control the equipment. I have successfully figured out how to configure the Gateway to use Modbus TCP, using a Python script to query the equipment via Modbus and be able...
Just received my cells today. Opened up all of the boxes and did an initial voltage test. Labels are all the same: 272Ah, Voltage: 3.29 (all cells tested ~3.297 +/- .002,) and IR: 0.12 mOhm. I don't have a tester that discharges individual cells - only charges up to 30V/10A. I'll have to...
I have mine setup to use my own integration with Home Assistant: https://github.com/shorawitz/conext-api
It's basically a Python application that uses Flask to create a server process that can query the Conext Gateway via ModBusTCP (any network connection.) The integration allows me to control...
Sure thing. Make sure you enable Modbus TCP on your Conext Gateway and edit the code to put in your Conext Gateway's correct IP Address. Mine is shown in the code as an example.
The code below only queries the Modbus device. I did all of updating of registers manually in the Python console...
Actually, I was thinking of controlling relays and not having any power go through the BMS. Are using a common port design to cut down on power consumption?
A JSON based API does make it easy to manage remotely, it would seem to raise the bar for those less technically inclined. With your...
I thought that too and I think that's the point GXMnow was getting to. But it always showed a value <100% and the Ah reading never made it.
At any rate. I went into my settings reconfigured all AC2 settings to factory defaults. I have the generator running now (but now I'm low on gas. It's...
Got my batteries this week...
I'm getting closer to having a solution for this. I think I'll be ditching the GWL board. They didn't want to play nicely by giving me any information for the I2C bus on their board. Too bad. It has all of the inputs I was looking for, but they want to sell...
Sweet! I too placed an order for these last week. How were you notified they shipped? I'm excited to get them and upgrade my battery.
BTW, what BMS are you going to use?
I forgot to add for anyone else following along, the output from my query example is showing the DC Voltage the inverter is reporting is actually 52.25V
Does anyone charge their batteries via AC2? I'm noticing that my current loads are still ~2Kw and the there should be excess power to divert to DC is possible.
I gotta say, this forum is much more useful than the DIY FB page. I too was hoping to get some info on these. I have done some serial interface programming before in C++, and was hoping to figure out the protocol. I think though that the factory boards are externally powered. I haven't had...
I've got 2 of my 8 DIY Mason kits up and running, but I cannot get the RS485 connection to work. I've tried several different combinations:
single battery/master using 2 diff RS485 to USB adapters (both are WaveShare) and 2 diff computers - both recognize the USB adapters when plugged in.
2...
So I've been playing with my Schneider equipment using ModBus and the Conext Gateway. I can write Python code, so I am using the pyModbusTCP module and am able to query/control my equipment from a simple Python script. It took some playing around and reading the Modbus spec sheets for all of...
I bought another USB->RS485 adapter (another Waveshare.) It is working and I can now see all 4 of the BMS'. The one weird thing however is that I had to set the Baud rate to 9600 in the software and in "Computer Management" on Windoze. Oh well. It works now.
Did you ever upgrade? I'm noticing some weirdness after playing with too many settings on my equipment trying to get my generator working properly - I should have doc'd each change.
I went all-in w/Schneider. I have the XW Pro, 2x MPPT 150-60, SCP, BatMon, and Conext Gateway. All are at the...
I think my decision for a new BMS has been made for me. How fast did Orion take to respond? I'm wondering though, if they were able to hack XANBUS, I wonder if I could do it too (I could put on my Python || C++ nerd hat and have a go at it.)
That's interesting. I won't have my new batteries for over a month, so I'm probably going to wait until Feb/Mar 2021 before I buy my new BMS, but I can hook up a serial cable and take a peek at what's going on with the gateway. I'm torn between spending the $$$ with Orion vs just use a relay...
Did you ever find a solution? I have Schneider equipment as well. I was able to finally talk to the Conext Gateway using ModBus TCP and query/control the CC's and Inverter. I'm trying to decide now if I should spend the $$$ on a commercial BMS not (mostly) suited for off-grid solar or try to...
I'm having similar problems as well. I just checked both of my Waveshare adapters and I don't see the same numbers
I'm having similar problems as the OP as well. I just checked both of my Waveshare adapters and I don't see the same numbers @tigerwillow1 posted. I think one of the adapters is...
They are heavy suckers. I have the XW Pro as well. I had as similar issue when I was setting up my generator. I had the Low Battery Cut Out set too low (I thought it would kick on the generator.) Wife wasn't happy when she was left in the dark until I figured out what was going on.
Just curious what made you decide to go with EMUS? It looks very interesting, but I'm wondering what the cost would be to monitor a 16S pack (I'm building a 4P16S pack.) I'm also looking at GWL in addition to all of the above. GWL also has a Cell Performance Monitor (CPM) that I was looking...
