Build the cheapest system possible to run a full size refrigerator. & give a recommendation on what brands/ kinds of full size fridges would be best to run solar on ie a linear/inverter fridge or a chest freezer/fridge with no defrost & thermostat.
(If your in the market anyway for a fridge)
@Will Prowse can we get an updated recommendation on SCC’s on your website or new videos maybe considering Victrons price drop & the epever BN series is being discontinued.
A 10amp & 40amp are the same price what’s the downside of oversizing? I’m not actually protecting the wires then? I was thinking about using a 10amp inline fuse holder near the panels(to protect the wires) then using a 40amp breaker near the SCC used as a disconnect?
Dam I sent an email picture s-5 & 10 mins later they came back with this response.
Customer service is on point

A DIY 12v or 24v system that’s exactly 3,000wh so we can get 30% tax credit. The LiTime 12V 230Ah Plus is almost perfect to build it on but it’s too small (2944 WH) then it seems to jump to server rack battery
I’m looking for the best 24v 100ah with low temp cutoff & think I’m going to go with two 12v100ah powerurus wired in series wish they made a 24v version other option Im considering is two litime “smart” 12v 100ah batteries...
4 x 100 watt panels in series going to 40amp SCC I understand I don’t really need a fuse or breaker but I want a way to disconnect the panels from the SCC near the SCC. Was planning on using a two pole dc breaker but don’t understand how to size it? Also in the future I plan to add more panels...
I wrote the 24v thing wrong I’m going to use four HSQ 100 watt panels with a 24v battery.
My concern is if I have a switch to disconnect the battery & a dc breaker for the solar panels
If they switch off the battery first before the solar panels doesn’t that have the potential to destroy the...

Just DC lights a DC fan & a full size inverter refrigerator model # LRDCS2603S 562kwh per year usage per energy guide specs so 65 watts average per hour if my math is correct
Is this a real thing? I see people recommend this but always assumed it was one of those things people read & then just repeated if the freezers are that much more insulated why don’t they just make chest fridges with that much insulation or factory install a thermostat that can change from...
bosch vw generator id use a generator from a old VW beetle it can be rebuilt & is bulletproof can be found for $100 ish you will also need the Bosh voltage regulator. To a car battery enloops are considered the gold standard amazon brand nihm are rewrapped enloops FYI
Aftermarket version I’d...
It’s a pain in the ass to register them & deal with there customer service but yeah if you jump through the hoops it’s hard to beat the service agreement.
Yes lowest cost would be the best unless there’s something slightly more expensive but significantly better. This is a remote off grid cabin so no inspections.
This company normally doesn’t lie but I’d be interested in your test or a teardown of this battery. Wish it was 3kwh so I could get the 30% tax credit if I used it to build my system.

Planning on building a 24v 2,000 watt system very similar to wills using 4 gauge wire for everything except the 24v to 12v buck converter & PV wire.

Building my system on paper it’s going to be 400 watts with a 24v 100ah lifepo4 to start out. This is for a hunting cabin in the northeast that will be vacant in the winter time. So I need low temp cutoff protection I also want the system to be hands off so I would rather not rely on people...
Is there any negatives to oversizing the charge controller on a 400 watt system 12v besides price? I was thinking about going up to a 60amp or 80amp charge controller so I could be more future proofed. I don’t mind spending more now so I don’t have to upgrade it in the future.
Hello I’m wanting to design a solar system to run a 7cu foot chest freezer. The DC sundanzer uses 800watt-hrs a day. Cost is $1900+ shipping homedepot special is $200 but I was having trouble figuring out how many watt hours per day it uses since I Dont own the freezer yet I can’t use a kill a...
Don’t use the charge controllers that come with them. Check out this folding panel it gets good reviews if you don’t need it be really light weight & slim use glass panels like the renogy you posted...
There are used 245 watt panels with a VOC of 37.7 each for $50 each on FB marketplace close to me. My plan was to use a MPPT SCC with 150voc max could I use 4x panels in series?
37.7 VOC x 4 = 150.8 VOC I was hoping this might be possible since the panels are used?

Is there a source for used solar panels like the ones sold from santansolar but on the east coast NY would be best to keep shipping prices down or possibly pick up?
Can you use a standard 110Vac wall toggle switch for low amperage 12Vdc application?
Less than 1amp
My plan is to wire an off grid cabin for lighting using standard Romex 14/2 e26 bases with 12-48vdc led bulbs I found levington makes a 24vdc 3 amp rated switch but there $12 each

Hello I’m trying to see if it’s possible to run a 12/24v dc mini fridge uses 90 watts no spike when the compressor turns on directly from solar panels. I’m thinking two 100 watt solar panels & some kind of buck transformer to make the power more stable?
Any help Innsite would be appreciated.

Have an off grid hunting cabin just got the ok to build a 12v 2,500wh system. There’s currently no wiring whats my best bet for 12v LED lights or would usb 5v lights work?
I’d like there to be a built in switch so I can just run home run wires from the light fixture to the fuse block. Probably...
Was looking at the Rheem heat pump water heaters & the EG4 Hybrid AC/DC Solar Mini Split. & that got me thinking does anyone make a heat pump DC/PV direct water heater? Ie no batteries or inverter just plug solar panels in?
Pretty sure your going to need Bosch voltage regulator (can be found cheaper)
I don’t think the buck/boost converter you linked is right or necessary for this application but could be wrong
Email I received back from EPEVER maybe they updated the firmware to have this option? Either way the numbers they sent should work
