Since I've been searching this group for awhile about this topic and not finding any others trying this, I had to do it...
Thanks @Will Prowse for sharing that video of the dual Daly 60 amp bms modules in parallel!
Dual Overkill 120 amp BMS running in parallel WORKS GREAT- though per Steve...
Yes,
Correct! Each module has its own Bluetooth. Only needed to keep tabs. And, it's only $8.
Sorry for the delay, I didn't get a notification! Lol...
I really taxed it yesterday, testing and playing.
I don't have an edited video, but raw one... Ran the single battery and dual BMS up to...
So I've used this setup for almost two years?
Give or take a bit...
No issues with the BMS or cells going out of balance. They split the workload evenly, both charging and discharging....
No issues at all!
I thought I'd separate the BMS for two packs, but never got more cells thanks to a...
THANK YOU!!!!
I had a freak out moment when my Xiaoxiang app would not allow me to check and adjust parameters! I downloaded your recommendation and it worked. Thank you!
OK, solved. The exterior temp sensor is faulty. Not only broken, but when hard wired and soldered to the board it still does not read out correct. I was able to override it in a way I hadn't discovered. Temp sensor 1 was reading - 30 and number two was accurate. Obviously one sensor is on the...
Great news about the Overkill BMS in parallel.... It works GREAT! Though not recommended by Steve at Overkill, and a mess of wires... I'm assembling and testing it out. Zero issues pulling up to 180 amps from one set of 4s 280 amp hour cells! I can only charge at about 20 amps do to charger...
@Steve_S, @DerpsyDoodler , and @Dzl
As to the reasoning, it was not specified... He just said not recommended. I posted here about it as there seemed to be no information about doing this, besides the one video from Will P. about the two Dalys in parallel. Everything I'm seeing in bench...
Hey all... Just to chime in about the parallel use of the Overkill BMS, I am bench testing right now with no luck. I suspect I have a faulty BMS anyway, but both will allow 60 amps, increase the heat gun to 135 amps on high and they both shut off. One will auto reset from the overcurrent, the...
Correct me if I'm wrong... but that formula doesn't account for the inverters efficiency loss, correct? Dang me, but I can't figure out the math based on approx. 88 percent efficiency .... Counting that, the overkill would be maxed out or slightly over current, correct? This is my issue as...
Correct! Using it camping right now. The largest draw I've had is about 150 amps for a short term. Most is slow 15-20 all night. Charging I've gone up to 130 amps for a short bit. Too high, but I wanted to try it out. That was with the solar charge controller and the 80 amp inverter/charger.
I've got a video and pictures of the BMS from Overkill opened up. Here is a picture for now, but I have a video that may help more. It's uploading to Youtube now, so Processing on their end and all... It'll be ready late morning. I'll announce it at www.facebook.com/familyDIY.net Youtube...
@DerpsyDoodler
Ok...i figured why not... I'm not great, but not terrible either.
Seeing the contact points, I soldered the temp sensor wired direct to the board... Put it back together and.... Nothing. Still won't discharge.
Still getting that Discharge Low message.
What gives. Steve at...

EXACTLY! I'd been through every setting and menu conceivable... But didn't actually click the temperature read g on the dashboard. When one said - 30, I realized that changing it to a positive number was mentioned in the Overkill instructions. Did it and it worked!
YAY... Thanks. Loving this forum!
Lol... This is me RIGHT NOW! Lol... I also have a 6amp LiPo/LiFe RC charger... and I'm top balancing 4 ea 280 amp hour cells. Sheesh... this takes FOREVER.... Lol... I started with the little guy, then reconfigured it for 12 volt and got my 15 amp battery charger on it. Still moved slow, so I...
The RC one I'm using has a capacity limit of 8000 m Amp hrs. It can be turned off I think. Probably why mine keeps shutting off. The one I have is a SkyRC B6 mini...
@snoobler I'm not having luck with parallel use of the Overkill bms on 4s 12 volt... HOWEVER, @Will Prowse did a video using 60 amp Daly BMS. I'm having a separate issue with one of the Overkill, so I have an email in to them this morning in regard to the faulty protect for low temp cutoff...
Hey all, do you know of a way to bypass the under temp cutoff? One of my two BMS was wonky and I finally figured out why. The temp sensor lead broke off the board.... With this broken, the BMS will not discharge. I have a replacement coming, but we leave in a week for a trip... Ideas?
Sorry, just saw this. I didn't get a notification... So far, it's running great. The two overkill BMS are working perfect together. A week of camping and no issues at all. Only thing I'd recommend is NOT using the bolts included with the cells.
I used 20 mm stainless set screws with nylock...
Nice! I've had parallel BMS running for months now in my first build and have done it a couple times more since then, WITHOUT issue. Running only one pack, it's a nice backup safety.
A couple folks think I'm nuts, evidently, but to be honest... Whatev! Guess I'm just not "clinically...
Didn't get any notifications.... Sorry.
I don't know what the issue was! Lol... I ended up bypassing the temp probe by raising the temp displayed. It fixed the issue, (kinda)... I don't trust the low temp cutoff for the bms now, even though there is a separate temp sensor on the board. I live...
Is there a way to bypass the temp sensor on the Overkill bms? The temp sensor plug broke off the board and it won't allow discharge. No freezing Temps where I am and a replacement is ordered.... For a short term fix, how can I force it to allow discharge?
I've tried:
Changing the low temp...
Lol... The pins fir the plug actually broke off.... They are like microscopic, lol... Big downside to that BMS. Everything else is solid, but that plug in that is on the board is susceptible to breaking off. Mine actually came partially breaking off....
Just wondering if I can bypass it. I...
Ok... Big update here!
I start a new thread for this too...
Dual Overkill 120 amp BMS running in parallel WORKS GREAT- though per Steve at Overkill, it is not recommended.
I have 4s 280 cells, grade A... my plan is to get 4 more, but I wanted to plan for that time about 2 months from now for...
