  • Post in thread: 130ah battery bank, only 2-3 hrs at 500w?

Hi Zwy, My AIO inverter is an MPP PIP6048MT, its a pretty new model and so cannot find a lot of info about it or another user who has it on the forums. I checked through the manual and also gone through all inverter settings and cannot see any mention of absorption or any settings for it. It...
  • Post in thread: Ongrid? Off Grid? I want both!

Thanks, I had seen some manuals state that they can be set to use Solar first, then Battery and finally utility/grid and will mix so if load is say 1000 (for ease) watts and solar providing say 600 Watts and batteries 200 watts then it will use grid/utility for the remaining 200 Watts and...
  • Post in thread: Winter panel performance - yes I know the sun is lower etc.

Yes I went for 35 degrees as my research says that's the optimum for all year round for my area which is Manchester UK. 50ish for summer and 21ish for winter but given my panels are fixed I just went for what was reported to be the optimum year round. Thanks.
  • Post in thread: Found a website interface, for the MPP Solar WatchPower app data

So to make this app work, do you still need to have the inverter WiFi module connected in watchpowernas my issue is it just won't connect. It was connected just fine until yesterday and now won't come online anymore yet it still shows in my WiFi networks list and my phone will connect to it ok...
  • Post in thread: DIY or just buy premade?

My inverter is a 6Kw so plenty of scope with that but limited space for panels so at the mo its just a 2.4KW. I plan to just build an 100ah 48v battery and so my calc is based on that saving me £200 (less now as I need a 4v charger). I did all my system DIY from scratch including building the...
  • Post in thread: Charging rates - newbie?

Thanks for all that great info.
  • Post in thread: PV low voltage and low watts reported by PIP6048MT inverter even with no PV connected, confused.

MPP PIP6048MT - my inverter is reporting around 26v and up to 10w of PV even with no PV connected. This doesn't seem normal to me. How about others, do you get a very low reading of PV even when it's not connected?
  • Post in thread: What is the source of electricity when AIO is mixing sources?

Yes I'd say leave it on the inverter as it is mixing and giving you the best it can from other sources other than the grid and just topping up by grid.
  • Post in thread: Off-grid with Utilitly backup question

Hi all, I'm getting up to speed with my knowledge on off-grid systems but am confused with one aspect and wonder if anyone can clear this up for me. When you have your AC-in connected to either a generator or grid on the off-grid all in one invertor and solar and batteries have some but not...
  • Post in thread: MPP Solar + BMS communication/control

I have my MPP AIO inverter communicating with my Pace BMS using the pylontech protocol so it can be done, its just the wiring needed to be different from the way my BMS RS485 pins were. Made a cable and hey presto all works.
  • Post in thread: UK Battery Recommendation Fogstar 460ah or Sok 3x100ah or Renogy 3x100ah?

Fogstar have been around a fair number of years and have good customer support. If you can get 460Ah for the same price of 300Ah then go with that providing the dimensions and weight are ok for your installation. I have their 100Ah 48V server rack battery and its fab and uses the great Pace BMS.
  • Post in thread: Monitoring software - Any decent pref free apps that can monitor MPP/Voltronic models?

Working in IT I do actually get where you're coming from and not everything software can be free. However having just pretty much emptying my bank account to build a solar porch and buy all the solar kit I am looking first at free or at least a 30 day trial of an app etc. Also in many areas we...
  • Post in thread: JuncTek Battery Monitor vs Victron SmartShunt

Mmm, just upgraded the firmware on my KG140F and somehow its now reporting that my battery has 122Ah stored but before the upgrade it was only reading 66Ah. Looks like somehow it has doubled what it thinks is stored. Think I'm going to have to do a complete discharge now just to get the figures...
  • Post in thread: Winter panel performance - yes I know the sun is lower etc.

Yes I took my angle from horizontal not vertical, thanks for the info.
  • Post in thread: Winter panel performance - yes I know the sun is lower etc.

Now I'm starting to get confused again lol. Most sites I checked said the optimum angle for fixed panels in my area of Manchester, UK is 35 +-5 from horizonal so I built my solar porch to have 35 from horizon but after reading some comments I'm confused as to if that should be 35 from flat...
  • Post in thread: Off-grid with Utilitly backup question

I'm looking at 3-5 kwh all in one off-grid units. The unit I asked the supplier about was a Chinese Powland (not famous brand) unit. Can you confirm any specific models that allow the combination of a percentage of utility/grid on AC-In and a percentage of PV/Batt for loads please?
  • Post in thread: Off-grid with Utilitly backup question

Thanks, Struggling to find a way of getting one in UK but read that MPP are just rebadged Voltronic so looking at them and another one which is also seems to be rebadged Voltronic the Axpert King II. :)
  • Post in thread: Ongrid? Off Grid? I want both!

Thanks for that. I wonder if you could help further. I know this is an unlikely scensrio but I need to know for planning purposes. So for example, It's evening so no solar and I've been using my batteries, they go flat & my inverter switches to 100% Grid from AC-In but I then have a power cut...
  • Post in thread: 130ah battery bank, only 2-3 hrs at 500w?

Thanks for giving me your time in giving me this full and very useful reply ?
  • Post in thread: Winter panel performance - yes I know the sun is lower etc.

You are doing better than me as I'm getting less from slightly bigger array.
  • Post in thread: Are there any small AIO off grid inverters designed to run batteryless?

The MPP Solar MT series of inverters can run battery-less. I have the 6048MT and did run it battery-less for my first 8 months of use.
  • Post in thread: 130ah battery bank, only 2-3 hrs at 500w?

Hi guys, Recently installed 4x12v 130ah flooded acid in series to get 48v. They are Snappy Leisure (generic) and I've tried emailing asking them for charge parameters but getting no relpy. Now from full down to 50% (65ah), I calculate I should be getting around 6hrs at 500w load but only...
  • Post in thread: Are 4 pannels (405wp) enough for growatt SPF 5000 ES

So does this mean even if the inverter is started up with either DC batts or AC-in that it still won't collect and invert the solar energy unless the panels are sending 160V?
  • Post in thread: Off-grid with Utilitly backup question

You would think that inverter manufacturers would list AC with PV blend in their specs or general features blurb but I've done quite a bit of googling and it seems hard info to find. Is this just how it is or am I not searching with correct terminology etc? Is there a list available with...
  • Post in thread: Off-grid Inverters in parallel, Amps output?

Hi guys, So most 48V off-grid inverters I've looked at seem to output a max of around 22 Amps at 230/240V through the AC-Out. If I need the capability of drawing 44 Amps from my Inverter/s. Is this where parallel comes in? If so does that mean that each of the inverters output a max of 22...
  • Post in thread: MPP PIP 6048?

I have just gone live with the MPP PIP 6048MT inverter, currently no battery (this system is designed to works with battery or battery less) and only 4x400w panels with 2 more still to add. If I turn off AC/Utilitly input then the inverter won't power any of my load despite the fact that the...
  • Post in thread: Solar porch/pagoda build?

You guessed right with the location, yes will update as we go, only had light rain so far so don't know how well it will withstand heavy rain etc.
  • Post in thread: Off-grid with Utilitly backup question

I was looking at the powland but not now as supplier confirmed it cannot supplement with AC and can only be all AC or all PV/batt. Do the growatts or other brands that anyone can name other than the very expensive Sol-Ark that have this supplement from AC rather than the total switch over to AC...
  • Post in thread: Battery charging 1% less with every recharge.

As others have said, I don't think these are LifePo, looks more like standard Lithium Ion and actually states that on the side label. Maybe polymer rather than Phosphate. I recommend you follow the advice from here and at least try to lower your voltage to see if they behave better etc.
