Hi KC7NOA and Sugerwood,
I just picked up on this thread and not sure how i missed it earlier on in the year as I tend to read most of them if they interest me. I’m from NSW.
I had a few problems with my Epever, not sure the model, but at first I found the app was horrid but I think it was an...
Hi Chad yes you are correct a flooded battery includes a lead acid car battery. You can buy a Bluetooth module to connect to your phone for the one on the link I provided if you want to play around but be aware that it disconnects when out of range. Unless you have the controller hidden away...
Plenty of people here to help you but what your will need to work out is your power consumption or as some would say you need to do a power audit.
List the appliances that you will be using, the wattage and the length of time you will be using them. That way we can work out your total power...
I had a issue with my Daly BMS some time ago and what I did was disconnect the balance leads and and the negative then left it for 30 mins. I was able to get back into it and into the Parameter settings then restored to factory default. Then went back and put all the settings back in.
Hi Peter,
Unfortunately I had my vehicle stolen on the first night here in Bulimba. Our trip to Port Douglas has now had to be cancelled and we are flying back to Newcastle on Saturday. Had to leave the caravan here as it has an off-road hitch and a weight distribution here so we cant get...
Sounds like that Renogy will be a good start for you. Just remember to make sure you choose 12v when programming for LiFePO4. Would appreciate how your Kings blanket performs as I test lost of panels and recently did a test on the Kings small semi flexible panel.
Good luck.
Schmism thought you had 10AWG between your inverter and battery but I’m positive you mean from your solar panels to your controller. The cables from your inverter to battery look as though they are Renogy cables. Am I correct?
Thanks Mike, I wasn’t sure if there was a manual switching to provide protection or to disconnect it but then again whether it is automatic as you suggest. I agree that the cell voltages are a worry and that is why until the protection is sorted out that Missoo keeps the the battery and cells...
Ok lets start off with the make and model of your existing fridge because on gas they don't generally have a seperate fan when run on propane. I’m in Australia and yes sometimes we install fans to provide ventilation to reduce the heat but they are not critical to the fridge.
Ok the mini...
Before you get carried away worrying lets just take a look at the maximum wattage appliances you are going to use.
Yes you may have bought the wrong size inverter for a 12v system but if you are unable to return it then lets look at the next best option.
So do you have a 4000/8000 watt...
Welcome Pliny,
I’m up at Port Stephens NSW. Firstly you will need to know what the wattage of your fridge and then pick an inverter to suit with some leeway especially if you want to use another appliance at the same time.
Giandel have been reviewed by Will and I have a 3000/6000 that works...
Look, it matters not what anyone says but if if it is working for you want then all is ok. I have had modified sine waves that don’t work with say a computer and yet another one will. If yours is working with what you want then there is no reason to change but remember it will have its...
Ok I see why he is giving the warning as he is incorporating a 120v system but he doesn‘t mention that at the beginning. But also he said he dropped a cable whilst connecting it. You are only doing 12 volt work and yes batteries do contain a lot of power that can cause you injuries but no more...
Hi Missoo,
Welcome back. Put a small load on them and see how you go but do not charge them back up to 14.6. Your cell differential of 0.043v isn’t too bad considering you overcharged one cell. Is cell No.2 being lowest voltage cell the same cell that you overcharged.
Firstly you need to think of the end game and what you want to achieve. Look at the appliances you will be using at the same time and total wattage. Yes you can run two inverters and they do not have to be the same size. Remember also they will be using power in standby unless you turn them...
Hi Ozman, I had a similar issue at one time when I did something wrong but connecting to the wrong negative should not be a big issue.
On some of the smart BMS‘s they have a removal temperature sensor. Firstly, take that out then unplug the sensor leads. Next disconnect the BMS from one of...
Hi Missoo,
Enjoy your travels . I‘m in your beautiful country at the moment and presently at Colmar for 3 nights.
No, you should not be charging to 14.4 so set your maximum battery voltage on your BMS to 13.4v and cell voltage to 3.35v. until you are able to balance the pack again...
Hi Mike as usual great points that you have picked out. I’m from Australia but visiting the UK at the moment although currently in France.
What I have seen from two friends here is they just run one outlet from the inverter for the 240v and so only use that single outlet. They do not connect...
There is also a difference in imput voltage, 100v v 150v.
Don’t forget there is a difference between the Victron smart solar and Blue solar in that with the former the Bluetooth is built in. Seems like a good price compared to Australia.
Not sure why you would buy a laptop cable to connect...
Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m thinking that you don’t actually have the shunt or looked at it and are just reading he manual. I’m more than happy to help you.
The shunt has a battery side and a load side. There are two 10mm terminals on the shunt. They are the big brass bolts on either...
Sorry Slowbutsure, had a family crisis and been driving up and down the coast.
Where are you up to with this? You said you have a desktop charger coming so have you top balanced your cells yet?
Hi John,
You werent replying to me but MisterSandals was trying to help you. I will have a read through tomorrow and get back to you as soon as I can. Don’t give up as we are all here to help and once I have read through I will try and help you. You said that you are not getting a reading on...
Ok firstly I do have an EPEver Triron but not here… What model EPEver do you have? I use Bluetooth but looking at what you are looking at looks to be the load settings for the inverter.
Ok so let me ask. You have 6 terminal connections on your inverter. A solar panel icon, then a battery...
It may very well be practical for you to install solar but i will need to really inquire regarding our energy consumption and costs to advise. At the moment I’m in the UK but live in Australia and have seen massive savings that will pay back my installation within 4 years but that may be...
Oh great news now at least you are getting somewhere. This is similar to what mine did but the final thing I did was go back into parameter setting and restore to factory default then rest everything. But my question is why do you want to change the sleep time if everything else is working?
Missoo,
Here is a good video to explain a few things for you which are mostly in the second half of the video. To me Andy is a bit of a Rowen Atkinson of solar power. He is very funny and don't let his bumbling nature fool you as he gives himself away at times as being very intelligent.;)
:)
If you google and look at images you will find many charts exactly the same but remember LifePO4 are different to AGM and lead acid etc so make sure you are looking at the right chart. Remember these figures are approximate.
Experimenting but what do you want to achieve? If you have spare money to buy things and to put them in a big bucket later to never be used again then go ahead and buy the 10A controller. If however you wish to look at running some appliances for your caravan then that is another matter.
So...
You are correct as they do have the ability to have a lithium profile as per Pages 24 and 25 of the manual. Nice bright yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside of it. That is why i said to buy the Bluetooth module the the OP can then set it to lithium.
Lol Slowbutsure you are posting everywhere ;)
Just a guess here as i dont have any of my documentation with me. It sounds like the lead with the 4 red and one black cable is for a 4S setup so in your case it isn’t needed.
I’m not sure what point you have reached in your battery construction...
Disconnect the balance leads first and then disconnect the BMS at one of the terminals. Let it sit for a half an hour then connect the terminal back up and then plug the balance leads back in.
I had an issue with one of mine sometime ago and this is how I fixed it.
I see you have been given one technical link but here is another explanation on calculation of power that you use.

Solar panels on roof means they may not get the best output for you plus you have to consider where you park your SUV and shading...
Hi and welcome. I you tell everyone what you have in your current system then maybe you will get some help. You will also need to advise of your power useage.
My understanding was that we couldn’t not get automotive grade cells which were considered to be A+ cells and that we were being sold what was A Grade that did not quite meet automotive quality but were suitable for what we use them for.
Take a look at this thread which states what what EVE and...
