.... and I believe we should have lots of diagrams, charts, schematics, etc. For me, a “visual” conveys way more information than words! Words can be so imprecise. Also, a visual gives a common reference point to guide a discussion to avoid statements like “Oh, I didn’t know you were talking...
  • Post in thread: New YIYEN 20.5Kwh Battery

Maybe this can morph into a discussion for those of us interested in buying preassembled LFP Batteries? As I mentioned in another post, the economics not really there when you need to buy 32 to 48 cells, BMS(s), build a battery box, etc. My goal is to find a great vendor, who discloses the...
  • Post in thread: Smokin’ Hot Battery

Thanks for the input. Batteries are over 20 years old and were well maintained by the prior owner and myself, however will now go forward and replace with LFP. Thought you might enjoy a video of the “Smokin Battery”, but it looks like videos can’t be uploaded

YYYAAAAHHHHH!!!! My quest for some form of organization of all of this information is about to come true!!!
  • Post in thread: Capacity Testing Thread created for the FAQ Section

I was recently pointed to the "FAQ Section" and was impressed with the organized information I found there. I don’t know why I didn’t get there before! However, I couldn’t find a specific thread on how to do a capacity test & why to do a capacity test? I can see the point to do it if you are...

Xuba Electronics: DEAL - 280AH LiFePo4 cells. Purchase & Review There is enough information in this one thread noted above (around 650 posts) to likely complete half the Wiki! I like ”tictag’s” idea.
  • Post in thread: New YIYEN 20.5Kwh Battery

I am also off grid in B.C.; What is the balance of the system?
  • Post in thread: LiFeYPo4

Greetings! This is my first post to this Forum. We currently have an old 24v 850Ah lead acid battery bank. I am intrigued by Lithium when I need to replace the battery bank and believe I have sufficient skills to build a 24v 1000 Ah replacement along with an increased PV Array. When snooping...

Good sized System! Nice I will be looking for LFP Batteries; seems so many Vendors to choose from? Would be nice to find a a good reliable one! I hope you have found one.

Thanks for this advice. I believe this is what I sought; will let you know if I have anything constructive to add.
  • Post in thread: DIY 24-volt 560Ah LiFePO4 battery (272x2=544Ah) with Electrodacus SBMS0 and Electrodacus DSSR20

    Ton of info here!
  • Post in thread: Info - 24v - 48v

Thanks for your assistance; maybe have to go to those 500 watt panels like I believe you ordered!
  • Post in thread: DIY Solar Power Wiki

I appreciate that the Wiki has started and wanted to Thank "upnorthandpersonal" for taking the lead. So from one who is trying to understand this vast topic and at say an intermediate level, I would hope there is a place for us to post questions that we would like answers. So for instance we...
  • Post in thread: Forum Bingo

I think this is a great idea!! There is so much information on this forum, but it is such a cluster to try to find it. I have suggested some topics, but they don’t seem to get traction. There seems to about a dozen of you that do the heavy lifting here; you must be getting tired of answering...

Is someone willing to start a “Capacity Testing Procedure” Thread? What Equipment? How to hook up the Equipment? How to conduct the Test(s)? How to record the results? What do the Results mean? ???

Ghostwriter66 - at your work, is there a voltage you use to correspond to 10% DOD ?
  • Post in thread: Right Wire Size

Thanks for this; if I were to replace it, which I might do, what would you recommend?
  • Post in thread: Capacity Testing Thread created for the FAQ Section

    Thanks Craig!
  • Post in thread: Setting up outback SCC for lead acid batteries

So that I understand calculation of acceptable A into a Lead Acid BB; I currently have 12 - 2V Batteries (85T - 17) rated at 1065 Ah at 72 hours and 850 Ah at 20 hours. I read somewhere that an acceptable charge rate is 10% of the 20 rate, so in my case 85 Amps Max. The formula suggested above...
  • Post in thread: Capacity Testing Thread created for the FAQ Section

...and following from that; is there some way we could have an area where we could get images like these, for all kinds of devices, battery configurations so that we could relatively simply "build" our proposed system?? So, I will grab this battery pack, this BMS, this positive bus bar, this...
  • Post in thread: Just Place new Order on Alibaba- 280AH x 8 for 1260.00 USD Delivered, Grade A to Canada

SolarKimmy; Do you have a link to those batteries?
  • Post in thread: Right Wire Size

No shading issues. MPPT is rated for 250v, but as I understand it, as it gets cooler, voltage rises which could overload the SCC, so reason I went with the two strings mentioned. so, 4 gauge copper it is??
  • Post in thread: Right Wire Size

    Thanks!
  • Post in thread: LiFeYPo4

Thanks for these helpful comments. Will forget about the “Y” Lithium cells. Yes, have the space and yes, can make adjustments to keep room warmer. Like both the idea of upping insulation & and the warmers.
  • Post in thread: Right Wire Size

Appreciate the assistance and thought a "very rough Diagram" may help you. Specifics of the two PV Arrays, the Old and the New are set out above. Plan is to install the New Array and remove and sell the Old Array A represents the existing wire from the Old Array B is the idea of "adding on" a...
  • Post in thread: Right Wire Size

I believe I am going to be replacing it as I don't know of a way to wire the 9 panels effectively to the MPPT; it is a Victron Energy 250/100 and I believe I would exceed the specifications if I were to hook up the 9 panels, especially when temperature coefficient is applied. If I could use the...
  • Post in thread: Info - 24v - 48v

A few more questions, if you don’t mind; I would like to go through the numbers , as I understand them. I must say your advise to deal in “kWh” helped to clear up a lot. 1. Solar Panel - looking at 6 - 400 watt. Seems the 400 Watts is nominal as they have a Voc of 41.23 and an Isc of 9.75...
