So Ive finally got around to posting some of my pics....
2 arrays.... 17500 watts total panels....
4 midnite solar classic 150 chargers.
all midnite solar breakers-panels/breakers (for solar).
12 eg4 48v batts.../racks.
aims 12kw inverter.
custom software written for me to 'poll' each midnite...
wow & damn... nice rate !.... Im ONLY guessing here as I DID NOT Pay attention to what all Ive spent.... but have probably around $30-$35k into the above system..... but when your bill hits (2 years ago..) 600 for a month.... and for me best of all... in all the pics above that stuff is fully...
A PI is nice :).... I started using a PI for KODI, but then moved that to a CHROMEBOX, now I got a NVIDIA Shield....
But the PI, im running what is called PiHole....(google it)... If you need I made a TXT File on EXACTLY What you do and type etc.... BLOCKS ADS,it does it at the DNS Level so...
wow... as you prolly know... we pay for the weather other 'ways' here in southern california ;( ahha
Just a few mos ago i was hearing gas... expensive in midwest... $4.xx.... nah cheapest here was $6/gal ;(
Unfortunately NOPE not permitted (lol)....all DIY
for the ground mount I put 4x4's every 8' on center and then a 2x4 across the top(attached to the FACE of the 4x4... and then just below the 2x4's I put another small 1' piece of 2x4. And used all STRUTS at the angle (I think my angle was 29...
Thanks on the reply ! I have 2 racks (6 batts per rack) of the GYLL (12 batts total 48v)...but thinking of adding a UFO... but also couldnt find em on ebay either ;(
Did your ship to you from the USA or from China ?
I had a little help on suggestions from people here n there and a few here on this board... ;)
I DO consume a LOT of electric.... so had to go this route...
a few summers ago I was approaching about 1600kwh/mo (so arounf 50-60kwh a day... fridge,deep freezer,microwave, a few dvr's, NVR, pc on...
OUCH they definately are a lot of $$ haha
good its finally cooled down to 75 here for the winter LOL... at least I have till june-ish to buy one :) but thats still a good drop after 5 runs !
hahah well the PSU is 1000w....... but ive got 3 vid cards in it, 32gb ram and.... ok NO LIE.... 12 24" screens :) No wonder why they are shutting down the power here in CA LOL
PIC or it didnt happen ahah...
what im wondering is w/ 800ah would that run me overnight ? As I said currently im around 20amps pull after sun... but there is MORE Stuff I need to plug in.... I need my batts to hold me overnight till sun-up.... Currently I use appx 1500kwh-1700kwh a month (from the bill)...
I
rn the panels have a bad angle etc blah blah... but rn I have 2 banks... and bank 1 is providing appx 6KW per per day (charging off of the midnite solar charger) and bank 2 is providing appx 11kw a day...
when batts dont fill after a few days and drop to 48.0V the inverter kicks in (its a...
Thanks on the suggestion on a balancer.... I havent heard of this (im new..)
Do you have a suggestion as to a blancer or a link ?
Just looked at the BATT voltage... it went to 54.5 volts... so that is maybe a good thing as it isnt overcharging I guess....
And I look at the inverter display...
I forget the CURRENT Reading.... but all other batts are in DISCHARGE (normal.. nighttime).... Its DAY now (so cal) and all are in charging mode off the 2 midnite controllers..
Thanks for all the info and a link to ! Looking at the balancer it looks like I need 1 Balancer per 4 batteries ??(because I have 8 banks of 4 batts to equal my 48v.... (if so that will cost me a mint :(...)
thanks, I so much appreciate the info.....
You think I need 1 balancer pre bank of 4 batts ? so 8 balancers total ??
I converted the ebay AUSTRALIAN Dollar to USD and the $452 AUD came out to 300 USD... that is for 7 Balancers :)....
I think current in AMPS from INVERTER Charging is appx 78 AMPS... as batts are charging off the grid now (from overnight)... (remember pic below is ONLY 1 of the midnite controllers...)
and PIC 2 (yes it shows 4 charge controllers ) but 2 have NO panels connected yet..)..also remember its only...
I have a
Multifunction Battery Monitor Meter (Here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W7XXKVF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )
and it has a SHUNT....
I have a HYBRID Inverter......(so this has the charge controller built in... and the "inverter" is the LOAD.....
The Wiring...
I have them off (overnight) as I went to bed and they were in standby and woudlnt charge (even after I power cycled them and even pressed reset button)(as others were charging).... so I shut them off and emailed the tech as sig solar and didnt want anything to mess up so I was gunna leave them...
yes they are charging (from inverter) as overnight batts got to 48.0v and inverter kicked in to charge (with so many batts it takes appx 12 hours for grid to charge),, (untill I build my new rack for panels to have a better angle..)
Thanks for the input ! :)....
So my inverter is a 5000 watt inverter... (as my orig post........ I have 32 120ah batteries (agm sealed)...)
so this will give me about 960ah
It was suggested to me to use 4AWG to series all batts (4 12v batts) and then run the + to a total of 8 50A DC Breakers...
lol sounds about right hahahah, not only that ive seen the moon go outta orbit at the same time...... I was wondering why that was happening now I guess I know why..
thanks for the fast reply ! :)
Im glad I can use 4awg for battery to battery !
I think at the end of EACH String of batts the wire may be 3ISH feet....(all so they can run to the bus bar)
Bus bars im gunna use are THICK.... CDA 110 COPPER 1/2" thick by 1.5"wide by 12 long.... which should do...
