I don't know to be honest. I have a solar shed/playhouse/hide from the wife space (more so since lockdown) so all my stuff is inside and no need to be weather proof. I would imagine they are available. The only thing I can say is if you get anything from China - you should test it, test it...
  • Post in thread: Changing Wire Size - NEED HELP!

Make sure you buy good quality breakers. The ones in the picture look like cheap Chinese crap. I have not had good success with them.
  • Post in thread: AGM Question: DOD% vs Life Expectancy

This is the spec sheet for my AGM batteries... Manufacturer claims 600 cycles at 50% DoD with a 4 years warranty.
  • Post in thread: dc disconnect

I have overload breakers from panels to controller - from controller to battery and from battery to inverter They serve as disconnects and fuses. I also have a small garage consumer unit protecting the AC side of the inverter, so I don't overload that and also protects the wiring. The only...
  • Post in thread: Flooded led acid batteries

My 2p's worth. It seems to me that its horses for courses on what battery is best. I have gone with AGM. Money was the highest limiting factor in my decision. After that a second consideration is off gassing. They were the only two influences. They are not the best I guess only having 600...
  • Post in thread: Inverter size

Yeah, I think that is an unsafe appliance TBH. The manual claims to make a 12kW version. Your absolutely right 2x4/0 AGW will not surface - Mind you it would not be on long coz the battery would be flat in seconds at full capacity. Yep all of the above. I thought I was pushing it with a...
  • Post in thread: 200A 12v Breaker.

Thanks again, I bought this:- https://www.ebay.com/itm/Eaton-Cooper-Bussmann-187-285-Series-Reset-Circuit-Breaker-25A-200A-48V-DC/172382876029?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=473220673766&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 After shipping and import tax is cost me nearly £100. Still if it works its...
  • Post in thread: Inverter size

My best guess is that it is 4kW - 8kW peek.
  • Post in thread: Epever Solar Station Settings

Unless you have prior knowledge reviews are all anyone can go by. I base my finding on epever having owned them. It's a case of the rock or a hard place.
  • Post in thread: I need a bit of help please.

Regardless the controller is charging a 12V battery and is limited to 520W peak. edit:- gnubie beat me to it, but I will add you have confused 24 panel voltage with battery voltage. To get the most out of that controller, you need to have a 24V battery and inverter and wire your panels in...
  • Post in thread: Sanity Check

Now I might be wrong here, but the breaker rating was calculated at inverter full use. If your only going to use 500W or there about's, then then the fuse/breaker can be much less on the low side. Understand though it will break/blow if you forget and connect a bigger load to the higher...
  • Post in thread: Epever Solar Station Settings

Hi, Yes same here v1.95. I do have the MT50 connected too, and the PC via an Elog-01, although I only use it for a bigger clearer display - I have not actually programmed with it yet. Now FWIW I have noticed that changing the settings to 999ah has made the battery indicator on the CC tally...
  • Post in thread: Sanity Check

Doesn't the fuse rely on the load ? So no mater how many batteries are connected - its only going to blow if the load is greater than the rated capacity of said fuse ? I reckon a 100amp cheap Chinese breaker would do it for the 12v side after tails to protect the inverter, with a 150A fuse at...
  • Post in thread: Sanity Check

Yeah - fair enough - no cheap Chinese shite, but the logic is sound ?
  • Post in thread: New Roof top install next week.

Yeah it mentions something about CT in the manual but did not really know what it was. That's good news coz I don't fancy giving them much and nothing at all from my batteries. It Looks like the SEG is not worth it - so keen to export as little as possible.
  • Post in thread: Introducing myself

Whilst all this is true, when I tried a modified sine-wave inverter, my hifi was unusable with a high frequency clicking - even worse if trying to use the radio, as was my apple computer, it sounded terrible. As the load on the inverter increased so did the interference. It just was not a...

I have always fancied something like what you have.... best of luck to you I hope you enjoy it as much as I would !(y)
  • Post in thread: Wireless battery monitoring

This is what I use, but would not be any good I think because it is not wireless. It does surface as a local ammeter and SOC indicator and is bi-directional showing charge current...
  • Post in thread: Why does voltage shoot up so quickly when charging?

The problem I am seeing now, is that there is not enough sun to charge my batteries and use them at the same time, and I am finding I am in the workshop more than I anticipated this winter (blame covid). I have a meter that measures energy in and out not voltage referenced, and I also have an...
  • Post in thread: Wireless battery monitoring

The problem with the Epever equipment is that whilst it uses an ethernet cable, the protocol is different so you cant just plug it in to a router even though its an RJ45. The wifi & bluetooth dongles only connect to a mobile or tablet, and the biggest kicker is that if you are wanting to...
  • Post in thread: Waterproof Solar Controller

Any reason you cant have the SCC in a box ? I don't know of any waterproof controller.
  • Post in thread: Charge Controller Settings for AGM

Hi, I have been busy during the lockdown, and have extended my Solar Shack PV. I now have 2x array of 600w 1.2kW @ 60V which if I have understood the jargon is 3S2P ? facing east and west. Each bank of panels feeds in to its own Epever Tracer 4210AN. The general idea is that because I can only...
  • Post in thread: New Roof top install next week.

SEG is the Smart Export Guarantee it replaced the FIT - Feed In Tariff. I am not sure I can use the self use setting as I may need to charge the battery during the night using off peek. So I think I am looking at section 6.4.2, I am also having a changeover switch fitted so if the grid goes down...
  • Post in thread: 200A 12v Breaker.

I bought this :- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-24V-DC-Solar-System-Water-proof-Circuit-Breaker-Reset-Inline-Fuse-Inverter/164117894487?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&var=463737582729&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Its crap, it overloads within 30 seconds of reaching 100A. Can anyone recommend a...
  • Post in thread: Charge Controller Settings for AGM

Thanks Did I understand the spec sheet correctly ? There is a lot of settings on the controller and info on that sheet I don't understand.
  • Post in thread: I need a bit of help please.

That link for for a solar controller kit. Don't you already have most of that stuff ?
  • Post in thread: Flooded led acid batteries

So that's a good price and half what I cant a balanced liFePO4 pack for. Got a link ? So really like I said in my post its a price thing. If you can afford them then in every scenario LiFePO4 wins.
  • Post in thread: New Roof top install next week.

Thanks all for the confirmation - role on next week..
  • Post in thread: Charge Controller Settings for AGM

Yes, now the advert specifies a DOD at 50%, but I don't see that in the spec sheet. I also don't know how to calculate what 50% DOD would be. Is there a common chart or does it all depend on manufacturer and AH size.
  • Post in thread: 3000w inverter - narrowed down to 3.

This is my inverter. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TJQDXJM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I am not sure I can recommend it because I have not had it long enough. Time will tell if its any good. The one I had before it was an eco-worthy 3kW, it failed powering a 1.4kW...
