The Ecoflow Delta has a solar charging capacity of 400 watts (65 volt and 10 amp maximums). Something happened with the solar connection and the solar controller was unfortunately cooked. Meaning the "magic smoke" came out and it no longer works. The rest of the Delta still works great, minus...
I started with the configuration you mentioned and the reading was all zeros.
I will give it another try tomorrow with the 10A setup (red lead on 10A and selector on "A") and see what I get.
I will also check the polarity of the barrel connector.
On a side note, I got feedback from Jackery...
I was not measuring the current as an open circuit. I did measure Voc correctly based on the video.
The panels are now shadowed so I am only getting a fraction of an amp (10 watts is showing on the Jackery). I will try again tomorrow when there is direct sun.
Thank you for the clarification!
I agree, it does seem like an odd position because most people are going to use third party panels and have to do the wiring themselves.
On a side note, if you fix the SCC yourself (and succeed ), I suspect it would make it difficult to retain the remainder of the 24-month warranty. Basically...
The spec says 200 watts, but it can really only do about 175 watts from a benchtop power supply.
No typical off the shelf solar setup gets you perfectly to 30 volts so about 150 watts becomes the practical limit?
I am getting the impression that there is no guarantee that there is a high...
@gnubie, you might be correct about the limited inventory / spares and they have been pushing hard with the R600 release. I suspect there has been a lot of demand for their product given the pandemic and the PG&E power outages in California. Solar is looking more appealing all of the time!
I...
I was thinking about the implications of connecting the z-backets through the fiberglass to the aluminum supporting structure. It is a good question because that would provide a significant increase in mounting strength.
It might be unfounded, but one concern might be the flexing of the...
Got a meter that works correctly.
I obtained the following measurements:
20.2 volts
3.2 amps
~65 watts
On the Jackery I am getting 34 watts. Not sure why it is about half the wattage the multimeter is suggesting.
The panel is in direct sun with no portions shaded. Is there potentially...
I am looking for the smallest footprint (physical dimensions) 400 watt solar panels for a tight motorhome application.
Would you recommend SunPower, REC, or someone else? Also, any preferred vendors?
Thanks!
Very nice. Those look like some solid z-brackets. Are you happy with how the brackets are holding down the large panels?
Also, how have you liked the REC panels?
I had seen Will's video a while ago and had forgotten how slowly the Jackery solar charges at lower voltages. He mentions using a 22 volt panel to get up to the full 7 amps. Even the Jackery panels are 18 volts so no relief there. Does anyone make a 20+ volt folding panel?
We have an RV and are attempting to use an AMP-L-START to maintain our chassis battery using our house lithium batteries. This device is designed for this purpose including being able to handle lithium batteries.
The issue is every time the 15 amp ALS tries to start charging it pulls ~40 amps...
I tend to agree, these seem like odd design decisions being that the typical Voc and current are well known. Maybe the accountants got ahold of the design in the end.
As mentioned, I am getting the impression that none of the off the shelf solar generators currently have well-rounded...
Also, here is the original feedback I received from ALS regarding this issue. This provides some additional detail:
"When the red HOUSE BAT. and STARTING BAT. lights blink simultaneously
while the yellow CHARGING light is also lit, it indicates that the unit
is in "relay anti-chatter timeout...
Also, I recall with the Jackery 500 that people were hacking in a high rate MPPT charge controller to replace the PWM version it came with. Now it is starting to make a little more sense why they were doing these modifications.
I ended up ordering a Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12 18 amp DC-DC charger. It sounds like with some adjustments to the setting, it can function to charge the chassis battery using the house batteries.
We already have two 30 amp Orion DC-DC chargers and they have worked well besides running a...
Understood. We are considering putting aluminum backer plates behind the fiberglass to give the rivets additional strength. This would require removing the overcab headliner, but it looks to be doable.
@tictag, good point regarding the warranty language.
Also, I found this short Ecoflow factory tour video. If we could just get ahold of one of those SCC PCBs!
The manual mentioned above has the fuse part number. Here it is on Amazon.
Good test idea with the battery. I am still getting zero amps. Ordering another multimeter.
I measured the open circuit voltage and current (sun directly overhead) for both panels based on the previously shared video and got the following:
19.5 volts
0.02 amps <-- This should be 5+ amps!
It appears the panels are bad and I will likely need to return them. Any other tests that should...
