I just bought a new 200 amp Lifepo4 to build into a portable self contained box. Including solar charge controller, battery monitor, ect to wheel around while camping this allowing more sun in my usaully shady campsites. I will continue to boondock with my existing golf cart batteries for...

  • Post in thread: Extension of panel to converter wire

Maximum power (Pmax): 100W Voltage at Pmax (Vmp):17.0V Current at Pmax (Imp): 5.89A Times 2 panels in parallel I adjust my use as to the battery charge. For instance on a cloudy day I'll use nothing much but the basics as to not go too low. On a sunny day I'll charge my ryobi batteries for...
  • Post in thread: Will Solar charge controller work.

I bought 2 of these used 330watt panels.will this charge controller work ok with my 12 volt lifepo4 battery. It's a 20 amp 12/24 volt. I'm afraid the amps could exceed the 20 amps in full sun. I bought the controller for 2 -100 watt panels wired in parallel. I will now use the 2 -330 watt...

Thanks I flipped a coin and am probably ordering the ampere time. Next step some kind of monitor for it's charge state.
  • Post in thread: AiLi Battery Monitor

Yes that kills the light and turns it back on. Thank you

They will both have independent chargers. Just looking for a simple switch and plug in for the new battery box to the old one on the RV hitch.
  • Post in thread: Switching to lithium, house charger ok?

I'm switching to a lithium battery soon to replace my old lead. Mostly I want to use solar to charge but if I'm plugged into shore power will the camper charge controller be ok with a lithium? Or would I have to disconnect the battery when on shore power and charge it with a separate...

Sounds good. I'll have to locate a switch and probably some kind of plug for the portable battery.
  • Post in thread: Extension of panel to converter wire

I have 200 watts of solar feeding on 10g Mc4 30 ft cable to controller. It runs 3 feet from panel on 12g to plug in mc4. This for a boondockable rv. I ground deploy the panels for optimal sun. I want to add at the least 10 more ft of extension pluggable Mc4 wires at times but really 20-30 ft...

Moving from golf cart to lithium. 200 watts of solar going to 200 amp Ampere Time LiFePO4 battery. To be used for minimal needs boondocking, say 100 amps a day or less. I will be putting this into a portable tool box for now as a supplement to my still decent golf cart batteries to extend my...
  • Post in thread: Switching to lithium, house charger ok?

Thank you. That's what I've read some on also. Finish topping with solar would be fine. Some chargers have a lead profile, that I read have an equalize stage that wouldn't be good on lithium.
  • Post in thread: Simple cheap plugin from battery box to inverter

Ideas for a cheap simple plug in and out from my battery buss bar to an invertor. It will be rarely used but would like something better than the car jumper type cable ends that came with the inverter. Is it ok to wire a heavy gauge extension cord end? Female to buss bar male to inverter. It'll...

  • Post in thread: Simple cheap plugin from battery box to inverter

I suppose. I can buy a soldering iron, and vice or use vice grips. Was hoping to spend less and simplify. Not sure why a decent guage extension cord wouldn't work. Along with a quality plug. Everyone wants to sell expensive terms and proprietary crimpers. I'm not making dozens but just one.

  • Post in thread: Simple cheap plugin from battery box to inverter

Why isn't there a high amperage cigarette lighter type plug? Male and female ends to connect to higher output devices like invertors? Seems like a need now days for something new that would only require simple spade or ring terms on the other end. Could be a big seller with all the diy boxes...

  • Post in thread: Cheap charger

I'm building a small battery box for a new 6ah lifepo for charging phones lights ect. Can anyone suggest a cheap efficient pmw charge controller? 50 watt solar panel and battery come to 80 bucks so what do I need for a fit for this please?
  • Post in thread: Will Solar charge controller work.

That's what I ordered, it'll be in partial shade so I hope its enough for this setup. Finally batteries and panels are getting more affordable but the other stuff they keep on gouging. Invertors and controllers are crazy high preventing many from affording a decent safe system.
  • Post in thread: Cheap charger

    Thanks Yes 50 watt
  • Post in thread: Extension of panel to converter wire

I think its worth a try for thirty bucks. If it means full sun for longer periods it'll more than make up the additional resistance. I think 2 fully sunned panels will have the voltage to push plenty through the extra length.
  • Post in thread: Current thoughts on first battery purchase

Going to buy something. I'm just looking for opinions on a 200 amp chins or ampre time for about $750. Or a renology for about a grand. The renology has a Bluetooth connection for an app and low temperature charging cutoff. The other 2 do not. I can deal with the low temp by only charging...
