Installed a 12V compressor fridge conversion, a 22 SEER Pioneer Heat Pump, 6720Wh 24v battery (need to expand this), and the tilting array! Tempest weather station and Home Assistant with ESP32 relays onboard. The array will auto stow in high winds and thinking about close lightning.
I have 2x...
Don't buy this:
https://www.amazon.com/Ampere-Time-Phosphate-Overland-Off-Grid/dp/B08K7HZ6KZ/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=300ah+lithium&qid=1612131916&sr=8-3
The seller lists them as having a low temp disconnect, but disabled it in later batches because they can't figure out how to have a...
I had a really bad experience with this unit, if you check the reviews - the lugs like to snap off easily. It's victron equipment or bust for me these days.
I also had a poor experience with a Renogy inverter, any touch screen device plugged into it failed to detect touch.
I've just given up...
I bought the same one. Battery came at a SoC of 6% with a mfgr date of 2021. Charged at 14.6v @ 10A and hit cell overvoltage (delta 0.3). Discharged to 0% SoC at 500W, then re-charged to 100% at 14.2V, hit overvoltage (delta 0.38). My "Real Capacity" is only 91Ah, when the battery should do...
Right? That's why I bought a "pure" sine wave unit:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081CLPDT9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Maybe that's why they pulled it off the market, possibly false advertising?
I'm 100% Victron these days, never had an issue
All bought new last year for my Class C RV. Price listed is when I bought it. Switched RVs and too lazy to re-install
6,480Wh (24v x 280Ah) LifePO4 battery, Grade A EVE cells (Docan Power) with Overkill 100A BMS ($1,300) - have about 40 cycles on it. Cells are insulated from each other...
I'm personally not too worried about sun tracking, as in, constantly adjusting the angle during the day. My big use case was keeping snow off the array and self-cleaning; and as funny as it sounds, being able to tilt the array to access the roof for maintenance, repairs!
> Were you thinking 45A SCC was sufficient based on 3 parallel strings of 11A Imp, 12A Isc?
Ah yeah! May be where I've been going wrong!
>First of all, call that 2x series 3x parallel, 2s3p. (Don't want 3p2s which is parallel connections first.)
Finally! That makes sense! Yes, 2s3p! Thank you...
I currently have a self-built 24V 280Ah bank with a Victron Multiplus 24/3000/70. I do plan on doubling-ish this for AirCon runtime.
I would be using an outside storage compartment (sealed, not exposed to elements, but also not heated/cooled) for additional capacity so a heated battery is a...
I have this unit on the way:

Along with 2,600W~ of solar or so. My first battery will be 6,720Wh and I have a 3000W generator...
Bought two new Overkill BMS for my RV project, didn't use one of them. Brand new in box, I threw it on eBay at a discount.
I live in Indiana, north if you wanna pick it up in person!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/325572384346
Yay, he reviewed one!
I wanted to provide some clarification. The 300a battery CAN work up to 200a (I can pull 160a continuous). I also did a rundown test and did indeed get the advertised 300ah.
My issue is that I was testing in my van and it's 0C/32F here, I had no idea that colder...
Found a guy locally, but didn't have anything bigger than 200w panels (used).
Got the orders placed for the bifacials and Pioneer mini-split. I'm going to mock things on the ground and may rent a crane to get things on the roof.
DOCAN POWER seems to be rather slow to ship and process orders...
I placed my order on June 10th and received a processed email shortly after. It's the 13th now (Monday) and no word on shipping.
What's the typical lead time for this vendor and do they ship on weekends?
Fingers crossed I get a tracking number early this week, my BMS just arrived from overkill
Thank you for sharing! Apart from increased weight, shouldn't be any strong downsides to bifacial panels, right?
My roof is white and I'm planning on mounting them 6" to 12" from the roof.
They also shouldn't cover the whole roof width wise, so we should get some bounce under them.
What if I...
Howdy!
I plan on using 6 of these panels:
https://store.santansolar.com/product/new-canadian-solar-445w-144-half-cell-bifacial-mono-solar-panel/?ref=errolprowse
I'd like to run 3x parallel, 2x series; so a voltage of around 97.8V~
The solar wire size calculator says I only need 12AWG wire...
I'm buying 8 of these cells for a 24v config (yes, with the overkill BMS). I plan on building a second pack soon:
https://www.docanpower.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_60_154&product_id=456
It looks like I can get away with a Victron MPPT 150/45 which is half the price of the...
I'm building Solar Truck 2.0. Here's a video of Solar Truck 1.0
I wanted to try something other than using U Bolts on this setup and found references of some people using Stainless Steel cable ties. I found some 500Lb ties that should work well. 4x ties per panel == 2,000Lb holding force. I...
I bought a Chins SMART with heater, the SoC was 6% out of the box. Charging, I kept hitting Cell Overvoltage and my 100Ah battery was only getting 91Ah out of the box. Chins did offer to swap it out free for their new version with balancing, but I opted to return and get a Battleborn instead.
I...
Alright, so looking at other options.
The Bifacial panels output 445W with no bifacial gain at $230.00 per panel
== 2670W
The closest other panel to the wattage is a BlueSun 460W for $249/ea
== 2760W
They are on preorder and I can't buy less than 10 (I only need 6)
Actually, I can't buy any...
You'd just think that using a BMS with passive equalization was a no-brainer.
Anyway, yes, waiting for the Battleborn to get here and raw cells to come in stock at Docan so I can put my spare Overkill BMS to use
