Mount DC breaker upside down

Actually, it looks like you can wire it either way.(in/top out/bottom or in/bottom out/top) So, you can keep it mounted upright. Just need to verify with a continuity meter.

Hmmm, I’ve always understood you need the line in on the top and load on the bottom.

I’ll have to try and find where that came from.

Looking at the picture, the + and - are reversed from top to bottom. This is polarity for input wires. Verify with a continuity meter, that the connections are straight through. (Not crossing over) if so, you can feed the breaker from top or bottom. Following the polarity marks on the feeding side.

Oops, I just looked at the bottom picture. Confirmation bias I guess.

Still can’t find the C65 sheet but time for sleep now ?

and possible operator confusion, is there any other reason not to do this
That’s enough of a reason.

As far as I know these Schneiders (or the three actual chaitaxi DC breakers I’ve touched) can be top-fed or bottom fed- they just must be wired correctly to capture the arc on opening. I would never upside down them.

It will still work fine. Just confusing to operate.
Old thread I know but I was looking for info on this for another thread and came across this one and thought maybe this would be informative. I'm pretty sure I read that certain breakers have a failsafe that becomes molten and has to drop from top to bottom so orientation does matter but maybe only on certain breakers if I find the relevant info I will show you.

Yes, certain breakers do require a specific orientation. (Not these)
And NEC has orientation requirements, also. (OP isn't trying to comply)

That's what I understood unless the breakers do not have + / - indicators... Langir JB breakers are specifically noted by the manufacturer:

  • JB is not polarity sensitive: (+) and (-) wires can be inverted without any risk.
