Nevermind, not sure what I was seeing. It has both a choke and no remote start lol.

On a separate but related note (rather than start a new thread) can anyone recommend a portable / contractor generator that has remote start but that does NOT use a proprietary (keyfob) remote control we'd have to hack to automate? I don't need an automatic backup, whole home generator with all its expense but rather just a "portable" (contractor type) with about 9.5K-12K running watts.

Controlling the choke seems to be key to remote start, but most generators that have that now seem to rely on a keyfob that you press twice to start the unit. I just want to use the dry contact off the inverter or a chargeverter, but those with simple dry contact start now seem to be rare.

I believe champion makes remote start units that automatically set the choke. I'm not really familiar with the terms dry contact.

I have a 4500w that once I set the buttons right on it can remote start if from a key fob..it can also sit all night not being started and start fine the next morning.

Two wire start is more than just automatic choke, or remote to start. It is the failure to start logic that makes it non trivial. How long to run the starter motor? Automatic retry? Detecting whether it is running or not.
