Sorry if this is not the correct forum to ask questions I am a noob trying to learn electricity. I am just browsing batteries to buy and am unsure to go with the name brands lifepro, aolithium, or anything else because then I worry I need all the same type of battery like eg4 with life pro batteries or if I can mix match.

I found this battery just now and it says its on sale for $500 less than original $1500 so I am wondering if this is a good general battery to start my mobile system with, my goal is simply to power a 5000 btu window air condition unit. The battery says up to 50 amps discharge and the air condition I plan to use will probably only draw 5 amps i assume. And I was going to buy the eg4 inverter for around $700 but I am leaning toward a cheaper inverter like $300 but maybe I should just buy the best of the best instead. Please help will this weze battery work with the eg4 inverter just fine without communication wires?

Also I am worried that if I go with the 48v battery that I will need enough solar panels in series/parallel (not sure the difference) to reach over 48v output to recharge the battery, Would it be easy to have a 24v battery that can be charged easier with less solar panels?

You should do more research. The msrp the list then take off $500 is way high.

They are only taking off about a hundred bucks.

As for building batteries from scratch, fairly easy to do if you are handy and have a background so you understand voltage, current, and power. But make a mistake and it can be a catastrophic result.

A lot of us DIY our batteries. I recently put together my second EVE 16S 280k that is 14.3 kilowatts.

If you are not experienced with electrics I probably shouldnt recommend it.
thank you I just googled that eve battery and they want $430 for 4 of them on amazon , so even if I got 8 that seems like $900 for a 24v at 36AH unless my math is wrong. Because since the 5.12kwh are advertised as 48v 100 AH, but the 24v are 200ah so I divided the 290AH by 8 for the 8 cells

You will need a BMS and a LOT of reading and research to do this safely.

Makes sense to pay $1000 for an off the shelf battery of 5kWh if that meets all your needs.
We've got a guy here who has cracked 0.5 MWh, so savings of DIY add up for him.

I suggest you wait a little and see what battery Midnight brings out. Might hit your price point and be from a well respected US based company with good support.

Okay thank you. any idea how many months until they release one?

Okay thanks man I would love the knowledge and experience to put one of those together. Can you help me with the math on that? 16 cells is how many kwh? compared to a standard server rack 5.12kw at $1200

14.3 KWh for about 1500 including shipping, plus $150 for a BMS and perhaps a case to put it all in.

This mentions a wall-mount battery in July, which I think could be 280 Ah.

I thought they teased about a 100 Ah server rack type for about $1000. But I'm not clear on the date.
They've shown it in a video, stackable no need to buy a rack.

100 Ah is 5kW, 280 Ah is 14kW.

Building batteries (I've only been a spectator so far), biggest issue early on was how to connect terminals. Designed to be laser-welded, but sold for DIY with crudely tapped 6mm threads 6mm deep, about 4 full threads. Then welded on studs that broke off, and other such approaches.

Insulators between cells are required, can't trust the blue plastic. And below, if on metal.

Compression has been discussed, tried by some, dismissed by others.

And top-balancing of cells. If received in different SoC, either need to balance them or wait for BMS to balance over time while held at higher voltage.

These days, built packs from China should be more cost effective than building your own, but middlemen gotta eat too. So cheap usually means "cheap".
