I bought a 54" Ryobi electric mower 3 years ago. It uses SLA batteries and they are now useless.

So, instead of junking the whole thing, I've seen posts where people convert these to LiFePO4 batteries, usually with good results. I've looked at all the interent stufff I could find and I now have one questions.

I've seen 48V 100Ah batteries like this: https://www.amazon.com/CHINS-Bluetooth-LiFePO4-Battery-Trolling/dp/B0C7NFJNF5/?th=1

Instead of buying 4 12V batteries and wiring them in series, I'm wondering if one of these 48V models would do the trick. I'm thinking the 4 12V system would need a BMS to keep the charge even amongst the 4 batteries. The 48V has a built in BMS.

Anybody ever try this? Am I nuts. Seems a lot simpler than getting 4 12V batteries.

Thanks in advance.

Search for Ryobi Zero Turn on the site for a great thread on what you want to try.
Short answer, don't buy (4) 12v batteries, go with 48V batteries (one or two) and it's a very simple swap.
Personally, I'm running (2) 48v 50ah batteries from Eco-worthy/DC House in my Ryobi and it works very very well.
